Love verses hatred

love n hate both are important.......

there is no significance or importance of any positive without a negative.

But all debates end on one conclusion - tht yu have to opt for a middle path

Sums it up all for me ! always good to hear from the "master" ! :)

Rajender Sir has very well explained... anythg in excess is negative, how so ever positive it may be.... even excess of love is bad... it may turn one to any criminal enroute. Anil , u r right love n hate both are important....... there is no significance or importance of any positive without a negative. Good is good because there's bad. Love is significant due to hatred. If there is no hatred, all love, how we gonna understand the importance of love....???? So the importance of the emotion of hate in society is that it makes us realize the importance of LOVE.Amit has also gotta point ....as perspective is always crucial in explaining anything... love may become negative if the object of love is not desirable. Hate may become positive at stances if its for a good cause.Well Poonam, debate is guddd n healthy for discussions... But all debates end on one conclusion - tht yu have to opt for a middle path to seek the best rather than following blindly the pros or cons only.

Looks pretty gud and holds water as per me.
Still one question... Suppose u r given option to pick some percentage out of hundred for urself. Hom much hate u wuld like to take and how much love?
Is it 50-50 or some other ratio?

Lets try to make a table of it (As I am getting bored right now)

Love --- Hate ------- Remarks

50 -------50 ----------Normal Human Being
70 -------30 ----------Stepping towards Moh
30 -------70 ----------Today's man
100 ------00 ----------Either devil or Saint
00 ------100 ----------Devil for sure

70-30 ratio may vary man to man.
ohhh now I wish if I were into statistics and data :p

Dood , dont forget that Software Engineers are the best , before jumping on to conclusions , do all necessary requirement specs ! ;)

Before creating the table , look for columns that can come handy later.

What about something like , %love for bad cause , % hate for good cause ;)

So we have now a 4 variable problem , my asset allocation ( 25 each ) :D (hedging myself against the idiosyncratic risk :p ), see u didnt need to guess i belong to a hedge fund :p

Well thanks Anil for making it clear...but what i have to say i already have said in my previous posts. But i will repeat them again, perhaps it will clear the clouds of confusion, i said that emotions are natural and excess of them is always bad and i hope there there was no debate till this point.Further what i said was that hatred is always associated with violence and yes it is. But it doesnt implicate anywhere that love cant be associated with it. I didnt say anything about it. I focussed only on hatred's association with violence because this is what i am sure of. Wherever and whenever we have hatred in our heart we are indulging in some form of violence be it in deeds or thoughts.
Yups , made a mistake , replace positive with neagative in my previous post's question and then try and reply!

PS: Though i replied to your responses , does not mean i was discarding the opinion of other worthy members , and that applies to you as well! :)
Thanks,
Anil

Cool , that makes us agree on most of things , and as Amit gave examples of , and the take i used , even love causes stirring of human emotions/feelings etc , and you also mean that implicitly , there seems to be a very less differentiation between the two ? Is not it ?

So can we drop the categorisation of one as positive and the other as negative ? ;)

Oopsssss I forgot m messing up at wrong place with wrong guys ;)

I was bad on equations ... I know max upto 2 variables, if its 3 then I faint and u made it 4, any intention to murder me ???

Well, I am risk taking player. I beleive the common saying, "The biggest losers/gainers are those who take big risks". Even in behavior also I go on extremes many a times. I knw its not good for an ordinary life but I enjoy. So, I opt for 100% love and 00% hate. Atleast I will be remembered either as Ram or Ravan... hahaha:D;):p

P.S. Hate is very important to love something. There is no positive without a negative. Its negative which makes positive, a positive.

I wonder why have you become so much adamant on dropping or adopting this categorisation:) I said earlier too that positive, negative, good or bad are not absolute but contextual...post no. 26. Please refer to it. And i hope it will give your restless heart some respite.:)

Hatred it related to violence .... agreeddddddd
Violence is very much required in few situations... let me court an example.

This is in general don take in personal "A guy comes to ur home and kills ur mom and loots ur home. But still u follow forgive and forget policy and still love him being a human being. Now he got encouraged and comes again and killed ur father. Again u being a fan of love and hate hatred u love him. Now, ur bro, sis and other relatives... ain't violence(hatred) required now?"
Now, apply the same story for ur motherland and the foreign attackers.

A lion kills a deer. Ain't it violence? But again isnt it necessary for his survival? Nature has made us like this and we shud respect nature's rules.
If u start loving only then u cant survive. Violence is another human trait and that is very much required.

Devendra ji you have cited a very good example indeed to establish that violence is required in life in some situations. Violence may become essential to survive. And when the question of survival comes..let me add now that the ethics take a second place. There is an episode in Mahabharata where starving Vishwamitra has to eat dog's meat in order to save his life..saying that ethics come into play only when you live. We as human beings require violence too when situation demands but if you go only by nature then there will be no difference between animals and us.We cannot blindly follow nature because we have come far ahead of it and as you are citing in your examples we cannot even deny resorting to our nature when we are faced with the question of survival. I am talking of ethics and you are talking of nature and survival and both are important in their own places. There is no comparison of the two. And as i have given the example..ethics can be practised and attained only by living. And we cannot deny ethics because we are not animals.

Sir, I tell about myself like others are sharing about themselves.

With love I can stay connected to you and all, and with hatred I myself will sit alone rather that hurting anybody else.

If you wanna more to express me, then I'll do it later after some time.

With love and regards
Neelam :)

I am just trying to be correct.

Adamant might be yourself who on one side is saying things are contextual and then also not dropping the categorisation. You can either be one , right ? contextual or Categorised :p ;)

love's all u need!

Love is all you need! If we love one another and see the good in everything then i think the world would be an almost perfect place.
If people love each other, everything bad can be eliminated eg poverty war and disease.
People must learn to see the good in things, to appreciate each other more often, to understand each other, to love one another.
You can have everything in life, but without love you'll never feel happy.

i dont think hate is good, and it doesn't solve any problems, it just makes one miserable.

Love is a positive emotion and no amount of it can be bad provided the object understands the purpose and subject monitors the object well.So saying excess of love can be bad as bizarre.Hatred on the other hand can never be positive...even a small dose of it can destroy the subject/the object and may be both in spite of these being NATURAL emotions.Justifying that God has given these emotions to us in a natural way does not justify towards the appropriate natural positive impact automatically........It is the application of these emotions;which will decide the outcome. Hatred destroys the very essence of love and much beyond that.

I am neither dropping nor adopting anything. Being correct or incorrect is something that does not apply to such topics. But yes there can be a balanced approach and we may strive for that. It should be acceptable to all.:)
Thanks Neelam, Piyush and Dev ji for being lovers of love.

Thanks Poonam ji for such a gentle reply.
U have put ur point nicely but just to remind, I mean to say both love and hate are natural traits and no one is better than another. Both are equally required.
Thanks anyway.. nice to see ur reply.

Love is a positive emotion and no amount of it can be bad provided the object understands the purpose and subject monitors the object well.
How can we trust that subject's purpose is good? and to be more precise, even if he is thinking he is doing good, we cannot generalize that its good for society at large. example terrorist.

Hatred on the other hand can never be positive...even a small dose of it can destroy the subject/the object and may be both in spite of these being NATURAL emotions.Justifying that God has given these emotions to us in a natural way does not justify towards the appropriate natural positive impact automatically........It is the application of these emotions;which will decide the outcome. I agree that emotion given by god does not make sure that it will impart positive impact, however, I don't think that hatred cannot bring positive change in person or society. as you yourself said that it is application of these emotions which will decide the outcome, So, we cannot be sure whether the emotion(LOVE/HATRED) is bringing positive or negative.

Neelam I guess no one here says that love is not required. But there are places and situations where particular emotion is required. Here love is requred to stay connected. Now, assume u r in a war fight for ur nation. Is love towards ur enemy required???
Guys kindly be practicle here and don go toh woh saint's updesh. If u wont kill him then he will kill u. Ain't hatred required here. And yeah this is positive also because u have saved ur country from destruction which is constructive. I do not wnat to convince anyone but this is my understanding.

No brother, love is not all we need. Hate is required.
Can u(generalised) kill ur parents? Can u eat their flesh ? .... no u cant because u love them. U cant harm them whom u love.

So, what if ppl(everyone) start loving animals. No non veg food. What if a japenese, korean start loving fish ? What if I(vegetarian) start loving plants. This may look related to nature but again the thread itself is related to such feelings/emotions which are nature gifted and u cant challenge that.

Waise, this debate is endless also we ppl are so adamant that we cant welcome other's ideas.

God has given us two hands also thru which either u can build a city or can slaughter a full fledged town. It all depends how u use them. Both ways hands are hands there is no fault of hands if they construct or destruct.

Are hands positive or negative???
There is nothing positive or negative. Its how u perceive. They are all notions to which we give our own definition.
