Before I get busy with my daily office work, I thought of writing my observation on this. This thread was started with Samar's wrong decisions regarding editing, deleting our posts. Later, sumit's case and Samar's fake name case were also added.
No problem, we will discuss all that in this thread only. But, let us list out the issues what we feel are actually something which Mods should look into:
1. Samar's Moderatorship: Samar has been deleting our posts. I would say our relevant posts. We have complained regarding this to Satyeshwar and other mods too. We feel that samar has tried to create an environment of panic and fear. His "pulisiya" behavior is for few selected people and we all are against it. We consider him as incompetent. Mods should give us information what actions they have taken to resolve this. If Samar has been given some warning etc or not. Communication to members in this regard is important I feel.
2. Samar's name / original name / Fake name issue: I know samar since my school days and perhaps others also know him well. We know that he was known with name Sunil in the past. But, Name change is his personal decision and lets all respect that. But, I would suggest that it would have been better if he had come and had written a single line post that name change is his personal decison and he expects people to respect this personal decision of him. I guess, it would have clarified all doubts people have. But, he did not do so. He did not come and comment even once. My personal experience on JL is that many a times confusion is created over many things, but when you clarify and apologise if you have done something wrong, people here are open minded enough to accept it and go further. But, no response from samar created another confusion and gives indication that there is something wrong in name change also. So, Mods (other than samar) can kindly discuss it with him and then finalize what is to be done.
3. Sumit's name change issue: Sumit wanted to change his name like any other member who did this in the past. Any user's identity on JL has two parts - Name and ID. As far as ID goes, I have already pasted many "not so good" ids in this thread and which exist. Driller Jat and what not.....This means, if these ids can be allowed even "SinghaadaSehrawat" ID should be allowed. Otherwise, rule should be applicable to all ..with retro effect. About display name, I also agree that display name should be person's original name only. If sumit requested for Singhaada, it could have been discussed. Mods could have started a thread and asked for opinion as they did in many other matters on jatland...including "whether advertisements should be allowed on JL or not". We collectively took decisions on this forum and then things were implemented. Then why not this time?
Sumit could have waited for that time. But still, even if you decide about a policy, ban for one year is not correct decision and mods should look into pros and cons of it. What people are not able to digest is that Sumit asked for name change and he was made "bali ka bakra"....
Hereby, once again, I would suggest that nothing bad has happened. Moderators can discuss and decide internally about all above issues and then collectively make / form a policy or change the existing policies and convey to members. When members can post wrongly, no guarantee that mods will always be correct. Hence, Like we get some chance to correct out posts, mods are given a chance to correct /change the policies or look into shortcoming in existing policies.
I would also say that we should have one policy council on jatland where apart from Mods, there should be some old members. Member should not be permanent and should change every month so that everyone gets a chance. One thread can be started to discuss policies... may be my suggestion only and not so correct.
I guess, each one of us expects replies from mods now so that this issue could be resolved.
PS: Kindly correct me if I am wrong. Also, kindly add if some issue I have missed out. Also, there are many other who have just posted here for sake of fun,...I would request them to please stay away and let issue be resolved collectively.
