Racism is present everywhere. I've noticed this here in Toulouse. Here people speaking in English are treated as INFERIOR. Only thing that differs is the degree of racism!
oh thanx for updating Atish, had been following this case closelyPolice lay charges over Gurshan Singh Channa death
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/po...ngh-channa-death/story-e6frf7jo-1225837937797
Gursewak Dhillon, 23, has been charged with manslaughter by criminal negligence at an out of sessions court hearing being held at St Kida Rd crime squad headquarters.
Gurshan's death had caused an uproar in India, with New Delhi on Friday describing the incident as "most unfortunate".
Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has condemned the toddler's death, calling it a "brutal thing to happen".
Police were treating the incident as a "worst case" and have deployed all available resources to investigate the suspected homicide.
Don't know what impression it will leave on Australians. But surely it's just another shameful act by some Indian and leaving others(Indians in Australia) shameful.Damaging reputation of India abroad.
oh thanx for updating Atish, had been following this case closely
such a shame..a BIG shame...another shame for us Indians here after so many attacks n treachery by other Indians(as by that Indian douchebag who set his own car on fire for insurance, ended up being burnt n shouting hoarse falsely claiming it as racist attack)
any answers u racist-accusers out there?
n trust me, if there is any REAL account on any Dessi by an anglo..it wud be not dealt with..and should not be!
had read a story about "bhediya aa gaya bhediya aa gaya" in school, but now I can see it happening..Indians wud lose all trust n sympathy
... that is the bottom-line !Samarkadian said:If out of over hundred incidents of attacks , 25% were racially motivated then it is enough to state the racism.
1) Good point, but I have posted BEFORE, that I reckon, these Aussies here are the MOST self-deprecating/flagellating people in the world. beat that...Is this dipolamt lying. I am sure he is not.

Acknoweledgement of the racism by concerned authorities concludes one of the purposes of this thread.
Coz no point in discussing with biased and twisted views..we losing the honest and practical debates and opinions.
Anyways...I felt I owe this nation to explain the facts..as I deal with them day-in, day-out.
Deepshi- are your views any less biased or twisted? A few posts back you said- "Someone rightly said here, when he is in a train going to some of those suburbs in west, he feels like he is in a shitty town in India." Earlier, you were comparing India to hell and Australia to heaven. We get your love for Australia. We appreciate your patriotism for your adopted country (to be honest, I find it weird for a first generation immigrant purely from a "sociological behavior" point of view, but it is your choice and no issues with that!). But what's the need to continuously run down India and Indians with irrational exuberance? Where do "shitty towns" in India- whatever that is supposed to mean- fit into a debate on racism in Australia? It is annoying to say the least.
And by the way, there is a difference between self-depreciating humor and acceptance of a racism by officials representing a sovereign country. I bet they are not cracking any jokes on themselves there.
Racism is present all over the world. Australia can be no exception to it, unless you believe it is THE heaven (which you actually do, but let's be real for a second). I watched this interview of Australian ambassdor to India on NDTV. A very intelligent guy who presented brilliant arguments in front of a hostile audience and atrocious line of questioning by Barkha Dutt. He didn't accept that Australia is a racist country, but he did accept that some of these acts are racist in nature. Not for once he had to stoop down to calling India names and making hell-heaven comparisons. These are the voices that resolve issues. Shrill, over-the-top, chest-thumping only aggravate the issue.

.
now Australia is not a heaven..but not too far from it
u win some u lose some..u cant get everything,,but comparatively, its still safer, supportive ,compassionate, pleasant and happy country to live in...
I now think they should stop ANY immigration to this peaceful, generous, friendly and lucky country, infact they shud have done years ago.
Someone rightly said here, when he is in a train going to some of those suburbs in west, he feels like he is in a shitty town in India.
worse, the racist Pauline Hanson left the country for England recently saying "this country has gone to the dogs"
n the idiot self-deprecating anglo readers posted on newspapers n blogs "Good riddance" accusing her racist
these immigrants are ruining this country left, right n centre.

O.K.. shitty town..uve ever been to some eastern suburbs in Delhi, trans-yamuna?
Now is the time for those Indians who have bravely stood up for the rights of Indians in Australia to also recognise that Australian Cricketers were the first Australians to voice their condemnation of the attacks on Indians in Melbourne. Great cricket players such as Mr Shane Warne had termed the attacks against Indians as ‘atrocious and unacceptable’ way back in May/June 2009.

Bal Thackeray is a joke. Who is he to impose sanctions against Australian cricketers? Writing a letter to him is accepting his authority to impose such sanctions. This letter seems to be suggesting that Australian cricketers should be spared as they are talking in support of people of Indian origin. What sort of principled stand is this? Why should anyone target Australian cricketers, whether they pledge support to PIOs or not?
Kapil,
Bal Thackeray is the one who is responsible for riots, disintegration, spreading religionism in a country like India known for unity in diversity. But he doesn't stop here. I think he wants to make his presence felt all over the world. Now he is responsible for aggravating the distorted relationship between two countries(India and Australia). Some of these news make headlines in Australia when he passes his ridiculous statements. Please refer to the link below.
An influential right-wing Hindu party in Mumbai warned on Wednesday that it would prevent Australia's cricketers playing in parts of India because of attacks on Indians living Down Under.

One of the excerpt from the above news : Two major cities in Maharashtra, Mumbai and Nagpur, are due to host IPL matches.
The Shiv Sena has in the past prevented Pakistan's national team from playing in the state for what it says is Islamabad's backing of militant activities in India.
Thackeray praised movie legend Amitabh Bachchan for refusing an award from Queensland University in protest at the attack on students in Australia.
This news published on January 13, 2010. Now the consequence of this is another news dated January 17, 2010. Here it starts the comparision between two countries.

That letter was in response to Bal Thackrey ridiculous statements, just to stop him if he can. He is basically trying to prove himself how effective he is.And he is basically making it worse for Indians to live in Australia.
I was of a different opinion until I reached the the middle of this article. Having read the article, when I read the comments of people I concluded that it's just another case of a pot calling a kettle black. apni desi bhaasha me "कोए सा घाट कोन्या |"Now listen here India
