Racism, Safety and Wayout!

Racism is present everywhere. I've noticed this here in Toulouse. Here people speaking in English are treated as INFERIOR. Only thing that differs is the degree of racism!

Police lay charges over Gurshan Singh Channa death

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/po...ngh-channa-death/story-e6frf7jo-1225837937797

Gursewak Dhillon, 23, has been charged with manslaughter by criminal negligence at an out of sessions court hearing being held at St Kida Rd crime squad headquarters.

Gurshan's death had caused an uproar in India, with New Delhi on Friday describing the incident as "most unfortunate".

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has condemned the toddler's death, calling it a "brutal thing to happen".

Police were treating the incident as a "worst case" and have deployed all available resources to investigate the suspected homicide.

Don't know what impression it will leave on Australians. But surely it's just another shameful act by some Indian and leaving others(Indians in Australia) shameful.Damaging reputation of India abroad.

I now think they should stop ANY immigration to this peaceful, generous, friendly and lucky country, infact they shud have done years ago.
Someone rightly said here, when he is in a train going to some of those suburbs in west, he feels like he is in a shitty town in India.

worse, the racist Pauline Hanson left the country for England recently saying "this country has gone to the dogs"
n the idiot self-deprecating anglo readers posted on newspapers n blogs "Good riddance" accusing her racist
these immigrants are ruining this country left, right n centre.

Yes ofcourse, there is always an answer. But I would issue a little correction, ''Any Answer U Racism-accusers out there''.?

Is this dipolamt lying. I am sure he is not.

Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said on Wednesday some of the recent attacks against Indian students in Australia were "racist" and that the country would have to work hard to repair its image.

On the second day of his visit to New Delhi, Smith acknowledged the attacks had "caused considerable damage to Australia's reputation among Indian people."

"We know that a number of these assaults are racist and have racial overtones," he said. "These are absolutely contemptible

Having said that, murder of the kid is a big tragedy. But if you are implying that all attacks were choreographed by Indian blokes , then it would be like putting the wool on eyes. If out of over hundred incidents of attacks , 25% were racially motivated then it is enough to state the racism.

Acknoweledgement of the racism by concerned authorities concludes one of the purposes of this thread.

1) Good point, but I have posted BEFORE, that I reckon, these Aussies here are the MOST self-deprecating/flagellating people in the world. beat that...
ek kahaawat hai "badd achha badnaam bura"

2) And by the law of averages or whatever (m not too good at maths) how many attacks on AUSSIES themselves by Aussies (or drug and alcohol fuelled violence on streets) , and Aussies by the OTHER MIGRANTS/ minority communities/Indians do we need to declare these acts as racists?
-Today itself, a cabbie molested a woman..
Atleast people here dont go into wild frenzy like the clowns in Indian media

3) If you bother to, check the everyday violence and attacks on Aussies.

I give up....guys just carry on...

4) And to guys all over the world..Aussies ARE racists,, no point..just dont come here please...turning more areas into ghettoes..
If u coming here only for minting money, try smuggling , extortion or drug-dealing, or anything ELSE back there in india..just spare this country.

5) So stay happy WHEREVER u are (yes, I find myself repeating, check the previous posts, u wont find an answer)

P.S: when there is an attack on Aussie by another minorities, they DONT put the ethnicity , but if by another Anglo-saxons, they put is clearly , everytime as "caucasian appearance' here..these self-righteous morons

Deepshi- are your views any less biased or twisted? A few posts back you said- "Someone rightly said here, when he is in a train going to some of those suburbs in west, he feels like he is in a shitty town in India." Earlier, you were comparing India to hell and Australia to heaven. We get your love for Australia. We appreciate your patriotism for your adopted country (to be honest, I find it weird for a first generation immigrant purely from a "sociological behavior" point of view, but it is your choice and no issues with that!). But what's the need to continuously run down India and Indians with irrational exuberance? Where do "shitty towns" in India- whatever that is supposed to mean- fit into a debate on racism in Australia? It is annoying to say the least.

And by the way, there is a difference between self-depreciating humor and acceptance of a racism by officials representing a sovereign country. I bet they are not cracking any jokes on themselves there.

Racism is present all over the world. Australia can be no exception to it, unless you believe it is THE heaven (which you actually do, but let's be real for a second). I watched this interview of Australian ambassdor to India on NDTV. A very intelligent guy who presented brilliant arguments in front of a hostile audience and atrocious line of questioning by Barkha Dutt. He didn't accept that Australia is a racist country, but he did accept that some of these acts are racist in nature. Not for once he had to stoop down to calling India names and making hell-heaven comparisons. These are the voices that resolve issues. Shrill, over-the-top, chest-thumping only aggravate the issue.

Sorry if you didn't compare India to hell. Somehow I had the impression you did that somewhere. Apologies again if you didn't.

Yes, I have been to trans yamuna and other places in India, where standard of living is low. You are free to find them shitty or whatever. But what's the context here? We are not debating living standards in Indian subarbs here. You know, I can start talking about how Mike Clarke/Ricky Ponting claimed catches on first bounce in the last series, thus showing they are cheats, thus showing bankrupt Aussie morals, etc. etc. Of course, I would be bullshitting.

Though you have made some valid points in your posts, the substance is far overshadowed by chutzpah. I, for one, don't believe there is rampant racism in Australia. I have seen quite a few Aussies giving really good arguments in support of that. None of them say there is no racism- that is just impossible. And of course none of them resort to India/Indian bashing to prove their point.

Now is the time for those Indians who have bravely stood up for the rights of Indians in Australia to also recognise that Australian Cricketers were the first Australians to voice their condemnation of the attacks on Indians in Melbourne. Great cricket players such as Mr Shane Warne had termed the attacks against Indians as ‘atrocious and unacceptable’ way back in May/June 2009.

Bal Thackeray is a joke. Who is he to impose sanctions against Australian cricketers? Writing a letter to him is accepting his authority to impose such sanctions. This letter seems to be suggesting that Australian cricketers should be spared as they are talking in support of people of Indian origin. What sort of principled stand is this? Why should anyone target Australian cricketers, whether they pledge support to PIOs or not?

Kapil,

Bal Thackeray is the one who is responsible for riots, disintegration, spreading religionism in a country like India known for unity in diversity. But he doesn't stop here. I think he wants to make his presence felt all over the world. Now he is responsible for aggravating the distorted relationship between two countries(India and Australia). Some of these news make headlines in Australia when he passes his ridiculous statements. Please refer to the link below.

An influential right-wing Hindu party in Mumbai warned on Wednesday that it would prevent Australia's cricketers playing in parts of India because of attacks on Indians living Down Under.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/c...n-parts-of-india/story-e6frfg8o-1225818979459

One of the excerpt from the above news : Two major cities in Maharashtra, Mumbai and Nagpur, are due to host IPL matches.

The Shiv Sena has in the past prevented Pakistan's national team from playing in the state for what it says is Islamabad's backing of militant activities in India.

Thackeray praised movie legend Amitabh Bachchan for refusing an award from Queensland University in protest at the attack on students in Australia.

This news published on January 13, 2010. Now the consequence of this is another news dated January 17, 2010. Here it starts the comparision between two countries.

Now listen here India

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/opinion/now-listen-here-india/story-e6frfhqf-1225820585643

This news sums up all.

That letter was in response to Bal Thackrey ridiculous statements, just to stop him if he can. He is basically trying to prove himself how effective he is.And he is basically making it worse for Indians to live in Australia.

Bal Thackeray doesn't care about any Indian, whether in India or in Australia. He started his political career by ranting against South Indians, moved on to Muslims and then moved on to UP/Bihar Bhaiyyas. In short, it has always been based on creating a fear psychosis of "the other" to consolidate the marathi vote bank. All this muck-raising over Aussies and IPL is because he is facing heat from the new idiot on the block- Raj Thackeray who is beating the big uncle with his own stick. So I don't see what's the point of writing to such an idiot- does anyone really accept him to bow down keeping in mind Indians' interests in Australia. I will bet on Sun rising in the West before that happens.

As for the heraldsun article you pasted, it is yet another idiot, this time an Australian. Seems like an Aussie version of Bal Thackeray. Atleast should open some eyes, who believe Indian media is shitty while their Australian counterparts are balanced ;) :).

I was of a different opinion until I reached the the middle of this article. Having read the article, when I read the comments of people I concluded that it's just another case of a pot calling a kettle black. apni desi bhaasha me "कोए सा घाट कोन्या |" :D
The author says he had to look up for Amitabh Bachchan on internet to work out who he is. I am positive that whoever knows so much about India can't miss to hit Amitabh Bachchan.
