How do you rate Manmohan Singh led UPA government and Why?

How do you rate Manmohan Singh's Government?

Although I am not a fan of Advani but I would have preferred him over MMS. Shri MMSji is a good person, honest and intellectual but he is not a leader. Country needs a leader to lead it not a clerk who can just check and pass on the files without having authority to take any decisions.
Whats use of his honesty when he cannot stop the corruption in each and every ministry.
Whats use of him being an economist when he cannot control inflation.
Whats use of him a good person when he cannot persuade Kashmiris to whole heartedly join India.
Whats use of him calling himself a Singh when he cannot provide security from terrorist and naxals.
Leader take the bold decisions not the popular to please public and MMSji has not done that. So I will also rate him as the weakest PM so far.

The present PM ( Personnel of Madam ) is the weakest PM we Indian ever had. Even Mouni Baba ( PV Narsimha Rao ) showed some strength.

He is a good man, decent personality, brilliant scholar, very intellectual person but end of the day he is just a DUMMY PM.

Vijay, the sailing cannot be smooth in a coalition government. It would be difficult for any PM to get along the likes of Mamata and others. There are some regional parties also with their own parochial regional agenda creating a stumbling block for the PM. I am not a staunch supporter of the UPA but what is the alternative (at least not BJP in my opinion). Would you like to suggest a better person/Party in the present scenario?

Vp singh ji..ok..you are back with a bang.. accumulated bunch of data.....but that is funny again .......

Prashant, the funniest part is that educated people like you seem to be suggesting BJP as an alternative inspite of the fact that the 'neckar walas' (Sangh Parivar) has always detested the Jats in their heart of hearts. This is not to give a clean chit to UPA and I agree with the argument that the UPA coalition under leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh has faltered on many fronts. But, again and again we are faced with the same question as to what is the viable alternative. BJP, of course, is not the one. It is true, overall performance of UPA has not been upto the mark.

An honest clerk is much better than a professional politician if the politician is corrupt, selfish, murderer and a thug.

Corruption is in our blood. Difficult to change the composition of blood. It may take generations for a genetic transformation.

The plane of Indian economy is on auto-pilot mode, flying high, passing through turbulent weather (transitional phase) but it will land safely.

[/QUOTE]Whats use of him a good person when he cannot persuade Kashmiris to whole heartedly join India.
Kashmir has already become a brain tumor. Even specialists from Sangh Institute could not treat it.
Whats use of him calling himself a Singh when he cannot provide security from terrorist and naxals.
Yes. Govt has utterly failed to contain it.

Strong decisions like what?

I have a fair idea of this. It is an open secret and there is no need to add any bits and pieces. Everything cannot be proved with mathematical exactitude. I do not dispute your prediction about vanishing of the present brigade. In my assessment also, the chances of Congress coming to power for the third consecutive time seem to be dim. At the same time BJP's dreams of ascending to the Indian throne with saffron flag in one hand and 'laddoos' in the other do not seem to be realizing as of now.
So, wait until next election.

The sailing cannot be smooth even in a single party government. So, it hardly matters. The real danger is not from outside and more than demanding supporters but its all about the execution and implementation of the party agendas and the decision making abilities. The country should be lead by a person who can take his own decisions with respect to the situations and circumstances instead of a person who always takes order from a person which is OFFICIALLY not responsible and answerable for the decision made by the PM of INDIA.

I suppose that we are discussing about the job done by Manmohan Singh led UPA Government instead of talking about the alternatives.

As already said by Vijay sailing can never be smooth, PM has the option to go to public again as done by Vajpayee when Jaylalitha was becoming thorne in the crown, Instead of horse trading BJP went to polls. But everyone knows what happened under the nose of so called honest PM when left pulled the plug .
I know BJP is not supporter of JATS , I remember they ditched Bansilal government in Haryana in 99. But for the country I find them better than Congress. They had vision not just the lame slogans. They made India to think beyond Pakistan. I am not sure whether that was BJP or Vajpayee..but it was better than this.

Strong decision would have been arresting Raj thackery when he was thrashing North Indians(pls don’t come with argument that is a state subject), Mobilising Army on Borders after 26/11 by putting pressure on Pak . Not scraping the POTA for minority appeasement. Or like removing AFSA or whatever is that called from Kashmir.

Vijay you are right in saying that. But we should have some sort of benchmarking. For example on the different issues mentioned by Samar, we should compare the BJP & its coalition work with UPA Government work.

In a coalition government, it is difficult to impose individual decisions on the coalitions partners/cabinet. All decisions require a stamp from the Cabinet in the present system of governance. Otherwise also, a person tends to become a despot/dictator, if all decision making is vested in him/her. Moreover, what is the proof that his remote control is in Sonia's hand. He is not dealing with Sonia an individual, but he is dealing with Sonia, a Party Supremo which is the case in all other parties too where Party boss cannot be ignored by the CM/PM. If someone is hearing their private conversation, it makes a case of eves-dropping which is not fair.

Performance of any government cannot be reviewed in isolation of performance by its predecessors. Therefore, we have to bring the earlier coalition into picture if we want an objective assessment of UPA's functioning. By the way which are the policies/programmes as pursued by UPA you find fault with ?

So you believe that BJP never indulged in horse-trading or any kind of corruption. You seem to have forgotten some sting operations by media where some MPs from the 'Pavitra' Party were caught red-handed while accepting bribe. They have a history of horse-trading also but neither me nor you can prove/deny it.

I dont know which kind of vision you are talking about. Could you please elaborate.

Arrest of Raj Thackeray : Agree with you.

Mobilising Army on border : Not an easy solution. Easier said than done. BJP also could not annihilate Pakistan.

POTA and AFSA : Agree with you

This is an open secret and there is no need to give any proof. :)

Prashant Babu, those living in glass houses should not throw stones on others. Your beloved Advani Sahab is also remotely controlled by the fringe groups of BJP (RSS/VHP/Bajrang Dal). Usually RSS leader carries the remote control in the pocket of his nicker and presses the button at his will.

VP singh ji....I can't stop laughing...you are using the adjectives like "beloved", "pavitra", "pasandida" etc furiously but still it will not have nay impact on the fact that your "fast friend" and "PA of Sonia" MMS is the weakest PM ever and congress is the mother of all corroupt parties.

Corruption has become a social acceptance in Indian society. Pasting a recent article from TOI

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...ly-corrupt-Former-CVC/articleshow/6518255.cms

Quoting few lines from the article :

Almost one-third of Indians are "utterly corrupt" and half are "borderline", the outgoing head of the country's corruption watchdog has said, blaming increased wealth for much of the problem.

"There would be around 30 per cent who would be utterly corrupt. But the rest are the people who are on the borderline," he said, adding that corruption was "palpable".

Sinha said that in modern India "if somebody has a lot of money, he is respectable. Nobody questions by what means he has got the money."

Prashant,

BJP is not pristine. BJP is also a mother of corrupt parties!!

Prashant, I do not see any reason to be furious. This is all in lighter vein, my dear. All time pass.

VPSinghji maano koni aap bhi.....
dont know which kind of vision you are talking about
The vision i was talking about was making India a nuclear power, electing the APJ Kalam as president....
Recognising the need of strong defence sturcture..Moral of defense personnel is lowest under this government, taking in confidence neighbouring countires.. ULFA terrorist were executed in Bhutan while Naga rebels network was destroyed in Burma..Keeping in check foreign policies of SriLanka...Developing and Indian Airforce base in Tajikistan...
These are some of the steps taken by previous government in developing India as Superpower.

Aap ne ghana bera hoga aap government servant ho.... Mera analysis to yo hi ke Congress ne kewal kursi te matlab hai... chahey desh ka kimi hoo..
