Dude, that is exactly what I said, if you dont know why was I questioning Saluram then you shouldnt even be making personal comments.

Saluram has a habit of giving every news a political angle which suits his political ideology and I was simply questioning that through sarcasm which probably was a bit more for you to understand.

It would be factually VERY incorrect if we blame India also for the current sorry state of bilateral relations between India and Pakistan.

There are no political eagles or sharks in India, whereas Pakistan is full of them, primarily the army.

India is in fact a soft state which does not retaliate no matter how much and how many times it is gravely provoked and has been taken for a ride since the time of Nehru.

Hence, it would be highly unfair to put India or Indian policy at equal fault (or for that matter any fault) as the Pakistanis.

1) Dynastic-rule did not start with Rajiv (/a result of Hindu polarization). So, let us not couple it with religious polarization. (Sycophancy and caste-ism in our blood... may be!).

2) Hinduism, unlike monotheistic religions, is too tolerant/vast// and India is too big & diverse to turn into another Pakistan. You can argue that for the same reasons there won't be a deep Hindu polarization in India (Hindu can not unite under a book, any book)!!

And who knows may be sense of religious belonging (/polarization) can curb the caste-based polarization, making India a more homogeneous society!! After all, while voting Indian muslims (Shia, Sunni, and Ahamadi) are not as fractured as Indian Hindus are! Is the religious polarization playing some +ve role here?

3) Of course, I don't want India to turn into a Pakistan. But I won't mind India turning in to a Italy, or Brunai or Quatar or Male or Turkey: Decent HDI you know :nonchalance:. Uniform Civil Code (undoing the historic wrong done to Shah Bano & sisters), solution of water-sharing problems, elimination of regional parties (which I believe are a nuisance), authoritarian govt at centre-> assertive foreign policy without any minority appeasing, laws to control population without giving a hoot to certain sections who oppose it tooth and nail, kick-starting economic reforms without being pulled from every side, and probably inculcate a sense of accountability (or fear thereof) among govt officials starting from the rank and file.

Congress had many chances to facilitate all this, it never did. In fact, many of these problems are created by Congress over their long rule. Congress has failed this nation way too many times to expect anything from it. Leftists are confused lot, lofty ideals not much to show for it; they seem to be the part of history in national politics now. Only BJP has any realistic chance (however small) to get this country out of gutter. If wide-spread religious bigotry is the clutch they need, so be it. Tyranny could only be better than the anarchy which we seem to have now.

Sunil, I was with you till you were agitated with MIM's antics. But not with the polarization medicine. The examples of Bangladesh and Pakistan where minorities are polarized out are fine, but we don't want India to be a Hindu Pakistan, do we? We can't solve a problem by creating a bigger problem.

What defines a true Jat?

According to my understanding of the historic growth of the community known as Jats, there is no categorisation of true and false Jats as is being made out here on this thread by some over zealous friends to show their intellect to down size those who have superior debating skills and arguments.

The historical studies depict that all Jats have equal social status irrespective of their official or economic position. The only criterion of superiority among the Jats is age. They are free to adoption of any faith or religion. That is why,almost all the religions or sects have Jats in their fold; they are Hindus, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs and Arya Samajists etc.etc. But adoption of or conversion to any religion or sect does not mean that the person ceases to be a Jat.

Narrow mindedness and sectarianism has no place in the life of a Jat, who is just, active and true to the salt of his community !

I would say Indian policy is at fault. Every soldier, every Indian life lost due to Pakistan is some way or the other linked with our policy mistakes. Lets not say we could not do anymore to avoid things to deteriorate to this level.

Your interpretation of my post is not correct.

No one said that we (India) could not have done more to avoid things to come this pass.

The fault does not lie as much with the policies as the policy makers.

They (the policy makers) in fact in the words of Sir Winston Churchill are indeed 'men of straw' who shy away from taking tough decisions when the situation so demands urgently.

I would say Indian policy is at fault. Every soldier, every Indian life lost due to Pakistan is some way or the other linked with our policy mistakes. Lets not say we could not do anymore to avoid things to deteriorate to this level.

Though Indians and Pakistanis have a common/shared history, they are two very divided branches of the tree which had the same roots. Mind you basis of partition was religion. We embraced secularism while they embraced islam.

Take a (little) deeper look and you will see how the little children there are indoctrinated against Indians and HINDUS in particular. This hatred they carry with them throughout their lives.

If this animosity between the two nations was just foisted by the Pakistani Army as some would want others to believe, it would certainly not have continued for over 65 years, no matter how hard the Pakistani Army would have tried.

The sooner we realize that India and Pakistan are the two banks of a river which shall never possibly meet, the better it would be for us as a society and a nation.

The best example of the friendliness of Pakistanis is the persecution of Hindus, Sikhs and Christians. Their hatred for non-muslims is all too evident from their countless acts of aggression and their collusion with the islamic terrorists worldwide. After all, it is not for nothing that Pakistan is called the cradle of terrorism across the world.

Hence, just viewing them as friendly in some western or Mid-East country would be a picture totally different from the one that you would get if you were to live/co-exist with them as 'colours of a rainbow'

Some of you mistook Arvind's message. Let me add my experience to it.

I have met several civilian Pakistanis over past 2 years, had 2 very good friends and yes it is true that we can never be together but common people have nothing to do with it. We always talked about similarities, laughed at our politicians, celebrated Eid, Diwali Holi together(Yes, they even did pooja with us).

Much contrary to that, I also met with a classmate whose family belonged to Army and though on the outside his views about India were casual but during discussion the animosity against India was clearly visible and you can see the same animosity with people from India who belong to army or hardcore religious organizations.

It is very individual specific, I agree that we are 2 shores of same river and can never meet but at the same time we will flow together and often there are a few bridges that unite us somewhere.

Agreed that partition was done on religion basis however, the reason of partition was not religion, it was hunger for power. Neither India nor Pakistan did any referendum for partition. Remember the decision was taken by few politicians who could not divide the power between themselves, so the decided to divide the nation instead.

You might be right here. I have no experience of visiting Pak. The people I had met were educated and liberal who, probably, were not a product of religious madershas.

I can also reason out that there countries out there who's economy is very dependent on military related export income. These rich countries would not want this income to die out. Normal people in these two poor countries are too busy with their own problems. Politicians at both end allow people to release their frustration on the other to save themselves. This is a hard fact.

bro i have done my education from new zealand....so i know pakistanis lebanese iraqi n iranians very well n one thing is common in all of them that is they want everybody to follow islam...for them a non muslim is a kafir
