Though, it has nothing to do with the topic of discussion, I would like to offer some comments on your claim about Germany and Israel being reduced to rubble in the respective wars i.e. World War-I & II and presumably the Arab-Israel War . It is important to note in this context that:
1. Whole of Germany was not reduced to rubbles. It was, perhaps Berlin and a few other cities which were destroyed substantially by the Allied forces. Its major industrial installations did not sustain much damage.
2. Unlike India, Germany was never colonized by any foreign power. Hence it was able to build an infrastructure of its own choice and capacity which helped it emerge as a major industrial powerhouse with export oriented economy, especially in the field of automobile and engineering.
3. Given the demographic composition, cultural, religious, linguistic and ethnic diversity in India, no parallel can be drawn with German political theatre. In sharp contrast to India, it is much easier to administer a country like Germany or Israel where decision making on issues of national interest is much easier – thanks to little or no religious or ethnic diversity and a stronger sense of nationalism.
4. As for the Israel, it has solid US support behind, I think.
About the food security bill, I have already given my comments earlier. Therefore, I don’t see any point in repeating the same. In brief,India is growing sufficient foodgrain to cater to the supply to the poorer under the proposed scheme and no import is involved. Hence, Indian economy is not going to be impacted adversely because of this bill. Let the starving people have their morsel without any political controversy.
