Growth of Information Technology Sector

Yes Dr saab, may be it looks funny, that is based on my experience in this industry. Labour laws do not apply here, thus no employee welfare organizations can be formed, no overtime policies etc. Client delivery deadline is the bible and everyone has to meet, even if it is at the cost of one's personal time.

Just to give you a hint - every Program delivery is so tighly scheduled and knowingly deadlines are set so binding, to get the maximum overtime hours from the employees as nothing extra has to be paid to them here in India. Further, now a days there is a concept called "managed servies", under which IT companies are taking contracts at fixed prices and again, to churn maximum profits, employees have to work for long hours.

This happens only with Indian employers and while working in Indian locations. In developed countries, IT is very good profession and rights of the employees are well protected.

Fantastic evaluation of the IT !!!

I agree with Anil. I would not blame the industry but Indian mindset and work culture- the same company in US will have entirely different work culture, work on time and go off and no disturbances on the weekends(Indian workers being exception).

It is also imperative to say this is not just limited to IT but all sectors more or less(govt)
