Since you are talking of Prime Ministerial candidate, an even more valid question you could have asked would have been - Why did your two-time PM Manmohan Singh not contest any election instead of just being a nominated Rajya Sabha member? But I am sure, you would not ask that which is obvious.
Second, how do you define a 'Safe Seat'? For Modi, a safe seat would have been his own constituency in Gujarat. We all know that BJP has not been doing well over the past more than a decade in UP. Kudos to Modi to take up the challenge there. He will beat the **** out of Mulayam in his own backyard (Eastern UP). It actually requires a 56 inch SEENA (chest).
But for political reasons, detractors here on JL and elsewhere would keep trying to rake up non-issues.

On a serious note, it is a tactic to win two constituencies with a strong candidate, you can very well bank on one of the constituencies to give that seat back to your party once the winning candidate resigns from that seat with some other candidate from your party.

If he was indeed the wave rider that he says he is, Modi would have fought from a weak seat. Irrespective of UP not being a major provider of BJP in recent times, Varanasi is a safe seat.
Now about your question about MMS - Yes, he hardly had the people's mandate when he became the PM via backdoor Rajya Sabha entry. But again, to compare it with a supposedly popular leader like Modi is akin to equating the two.

Have you thought as to why others dont do it? Dig deep and you will find an answer.
Solar Power has failed to taken off globally(besides a few developed rich nations) and in India- look at Moser Baer- not just because it is expensive but because it gets obsolete soon. The industry is fast evolving itself and what you buy today will be obsolete tomorrow, power losses are huge. If you were to get solar power it will be much more expenive than regular power- would you be willing to pay for it? If not govt will via subsidies.
Look at Gujarats debt, it has trippeled for same expenditures

I ask Modibhakts question about Modi, so you should ask other party supporters these questions. I am neutral, may lean towards AAP, but the supposed Modi phenomenon attracts my attention and hence the questions. Got it?

This is a very bad situation in India where only catchy words are taking the front seat like in case of solar panels over the canal's.
I have seen some of the pictures those might have been floated deliberately by the highly paid companies hired for marketing by Shri Shri Modi Ji (56 inchi br...st wale). Could someone please share some statistics also about the whole topic.
i.e. a) How many panels have been placed? what all area has been covered? Kya rajbhai bhi cover kar diye gae hein all across gujrat.
What is the total expenditure on this event?
What is the cost of the electricity generated?
Is this Modi technology transferred to other BJP ruling states, state some examples of MP, Chatisgarh (If not then is this copyright to Shri Shri Modi ji and he is not el all willing to share this to his fellow BJP CMs out of credit sharing)
My interest is to get the actual figure out of it, whether it has some substance or its merely a catchy marketing point.
