Research on history of Jat clans

Friend,

Perhaps burdak ji is talking teh similarity of "hara" in "balahara" and "gadahara". Please comment if it does not make sense to you

Regards,
Prashant

Friend,

This analogy seems totally untenable.

But Burdakji himself can better comment how does he derive Balahara from Gadahara !

If at all, some faint similarity is to be traced, there is chance that in all likely-hood, 'Gadahara' might have first corrupted to 'Gadhara' and then in due course of time to Godara

Thanks and regards.

Gadahara seems very similar to Balahara, a clan found in Jats, who were considered to be the greatest rulers in Sindh and Hind by Arab historians.

Friend,

Whereas Gadahara are referred in the relevant post as residents of Central Punjab [of course the old Punjab, the region may be around Jullundhar-Amritsar-Lahore] and you identify them as Balahara of Sindh and Hind.

What leads you to do so, kindly share?

This is clear from their place of inhabitation that these two groups of people were separate and must be taken as such without mixing up their identity.

If I am wrong, kindly correct me.

Thanks and regards,

Friend,

You still could not understand. Let us wait for Burdak ji 's comment

Friends I did not mean Balahara and Gadahara are same. I simply meant they are derived in similar fashion. I took example of Balhara to understand because it is known to us. Local term for Balhara is Balara. Balahara is Sanskrit word which may mean those defeated by Bala people. Now Bal are also Jat. Gadahara may be those defeated by Gada (गद) people. Now Gada (गदा) is a Jat clan found in Sindh/Afghanistan. [An Inquiry Into the Ethnography of Afghanistan By H. W. Bellew, The Oriental University Institute, Woking, 1891, p.18]

Gadahara of Sanskrit may change to Gadara or Gadarah. Gadarah (गदारह) is a Jat clan found in Multan, Pakistan [See: A glossary of the Tribes and Castes of the Punjab and North-West Frontier Province By H.A. Rose Vol I/G,p.255].

We can not drive Godara from Gadahara with this logic. There can be one possibility, if a Bengali speaks Gadara he may pronounce it as Godara. We have to find evidences for it if Godara had any Bengal Connection?

Congratulations Kushagra Ji for your first post on Jatland.

We do not have yet Nausaran in the list of Jat Gotras.

May be it is originated from [wiki]Naoshera[/wiki] (नौशेहरा), also 'Naushehra', Nowshera, Naushirwan (Urdu: نوشہره), is a village and one of the 51 Union Councils of Khushab District in the Punjab Province of Pakistan.

Sirdar Jassa Singh, Naoshera (b. 1793) was Shergill-Jat, and is in the [wiki]List of Punjab Chiefs[/wiki]

Karkala clan History

Karkala (करकला) Jat gotra people[1] live in Bharatpur district in Rajasthan. They are said to have originated from Nagavanshi King Krikalasa (कृकलास). Kerk, Kruk, Kurk, Karak is a tribe mentioned by Sir H. M. Elliot[2] living in Sindh. This seem to be a variant of Jat clan Karkala.

Hijra 151. A.D. 768. : In this year the Kurks made an attack upon Jidda.[3]

Hari clan History

Hari (हरी) Hariwar (हरीवार)/ Hariwal (हरीवाल) is gotra of Jats found in Distt Kurukshetra, Jind in Haryana, and Multan area in Pakistan. Hariwar live in Uttar Pradesh. Hari clan is found in Afghanistan. Hari (हरी) Jat clan is found in Multan.

Origin

1. Hari Jats are descendants of Raja Hiranya Varma (हिरण्यवर्मा). [Mahendra Singh Arya et al: Adhunik Jat Itihas, p. 285]

2. Hari River may give name to the clan. Hari River or Harirud (Pashto: هری*رود‎ Harī Rūd) is a river flowing 1100 kilometers from the mountains of central Afghanistan to Turkmenistan, where it disappears in the Kara-Kum desert. Rud means "river" in Pashto.

Hari clan Jats gave their name to the Haryanaka dynasty of pre-historic India, to the present state of Haryana" and also to certain towns in Punjab. [Aryan Tribes and the Rig Veda by B S Dahiya]

Hari (हरि), a tribe of Jats found in Jind. They have a jathera at Shadi Hari and out of a pond there cast seven handfuls of earth at the Diwali in his name. [ A glossary of the Tribes and Castes of the Punjab and North-West Frontier Province By H.A. Rose Vol II/H,p.327]

Jani Clan History

Sir H. M. Elliot Edited by John Dowson (See -[wiki] The history of India : as told by its own historians. Volume II/VIII. Tabakat-i Nasiri of Minhaju-s Siraj[/wiki] ,p.319) writes about two Muslim Jani Rulers in Bengal and Bihar in 13th century: Sultan Sa'id Shamsu-d din sent armies several times from Dehli, and having conquered the province of Behar he stationed his officers there. In 622 (1225 A.D.) he invaded Lakhnauti and Ghiyasu-d din advanced his boats up the stream to oppose him, but peace was made between them. Shamsu-d din accepted thirty eight elephants, and treasure to the amount of eighty lacs. He ordered the Khutba to be read in his name. On his departure he gave Behar to Malik 'Alau-d din Jani. Ghiyasu-d din 'Auz came to Behar from Lakhnauti, and took it, and acted tyrannically. At last in the year 624 (1227 A.D.), Malik Shahid Nasiru-d din Mahmud, son of Sultan Shamsu-d din, having collected an army in Hindustan, and accompanied by 'Izzu-l Malik Jani, marched from Oude to Lakhnauti. At this time Ghiyasu-d din 'Auz had gone on an expedition to Bengal and Kamrup, and had left Lakhnauti stripped of defenders.

Agreed that Jat is an Aboriginal Race of India, but do not agree with Brahmin generated History that Pandavas were different, the Multicaste system started by Brahmins, formed through Diksha by Adishankara of Shudras from South India as Brahmins during Ashokas long imposition of Buddhism were made irrelevant, whatever new by birth were the followers of Adisahnkara, who migrated from Pagan Lands of West Asian Regions and mixed with shudras of South, created Pagan Rituals to counter Jainism, discovered new Gods there after every decades or so, edited all ancient texts with addenda from Christianity, to create commercialized version called Sanatana Dharma, they somehow put Rajputras, who were issues from thousands of dasis accompanying newly wed Rajkumaris as dowry, last true Kshatriya Raja was Prithviraj Chauhan and his step son or Bandiputra was Jaichand, whose clan after defeat of Prithvi started expanding in collusion with Caste Brahmins, through such imposed Rajas from among Rajputras, from thence till date the glory of India is on the wane and one day is going to destroy this Nation.

Oirat tribe

Oirat are the westernmost group of the Mongols whose ancestral home is in the Altai region of western Mongolia.

Although the Oirats originated in the eastern parts of Central Asia, the most prominent group today is located in the Republic of Kalmykia, a federal subject of the Russian Federation, where they are called Kalmuks—the correct pronunciation and spelling of the name. The Kalmuks migrated from Dzungaria to the southeastern European part of the Russian Federation in the early 17th century.

Historically, the Oirats were composed of four major tribes: Dzungar (Choros or Ööled), Torghut, Dörbet, and Khoshut.

The minor tribes include: Khoid, Bayads, Myangad, Zakhchin, Baatud.

[wiki]List of Mahabharata people and places[/wiki] contains Kalamukha (कालमुख) (II.28.45).

[wiki]Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 28[/wiki] mentions Sahadeva's march towards south: kings and tribes defeated.

The Kuru warrior then vanquished and brought under his subjection numberless kings of the Mlechchha tribe living on the sea coast, and the Nishadas and the cannibals and even the Karnapravarnas, and those tribes also called the Kalamukhas who were a cross between human beings and Rakshasas, and the whole of the Cole mountains, and also Surabhipatna, and the island called the Copper island, and the mountain called Ramaka.

(Mbt:II.28.46)

The points of research here are

1.The Kalmuk of Mongolia are Kalamukha (कालमुख) (II.28.45) of Mahabharata?

2.The tribes of Oirat are very similar to Jat clans. For example

Khoid = Khowde (खोवडे) Khobde (खोबड़े) Gotra of Jats in Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Khwaedad Jat clan is found in Afghanistan.

Baatud = Batar (बाटड़)/Batan (बाटण) Vatdhan (वाटधान) Watdhan (वाटधान) Vattadhana (वाटधान) Batdhan (बाटधान) Vatdhan (वत्धान) gotra of Jats found in Punjab and Rajasthan. Batar Jat clan is found in Multan.

Bayad = Bajar (बाजड) Bajad (बजाड़) Bazaad (बजाड़) Bazzad gotra Jats are found in Rajasthan, Haryana, Maharashtra and Delhi.

Can we think of their migration from India to Mongolia after their defeat in Mahabharata war subjugated by Sahadeva?

Some Jat clans in ancient Jain Records

4. बलहरा ([wiki]Balhara[/wiki])
5. मोराक्ष ([wiki]Mor[/wiki])
6. कुलहट ([wiki]Kulhari[/wiki])
11. भूरि ([wiki]Bhuri[/wiki])
12. भाद्र ([wiki]Bhadu[/wiki])
15. डीडु ([wiki]Dudi[/wiki])

This shows that we need to search Ancient Jaina Records for connecting missing links in our history.
