The problem is that at this point of time "Jats" are standing isolated and away from farmers at national level.
Reservation for "Jats" is not only for "Jats" but "Jats" do represent the farming community scenario which for long time have suffered same consequences of "Giver of everything".
As farmers in India work hard in heat, rain or cold without surety of results their crops get destroyed if there is bad weather. These are the farmers who take money from the money lender for doing agriculture, sell their crop and do not receive money even after many years.
Often their land is taken away by the people who lend to these farmers. Now these money landers have become land mafia, colonizers, land development people, government acquiring land, etc.
There is bad combination of many sectors of people involved in exploiting farmers and turning them into fodder for business class people using the land of the farmers.
The highest rate of suicide is in farming community and the hardest life is that of a farmer. Privatizing the entire education sector from the lowest to highest degree has made the situation worse, failing agricultural research will land farmers in a wrong situation.
Reservation is essential for "Jats" as they have not been able to exploit people in the name of religion or other issues as many other communities have done. Neither have "Jats" accumulated huge wealth by building big temples or creating religious sects/religious cults.
Interesting fact is most of the agricultural communities are supposed to protect the country from outside religious/naxalite, etc. forces as most of the people in Paramilitary forces, Army etc. come from village based agricultural communities.
This is the case of many farming based communities as they have struggled throughout centuries.
If there is a comparison between the communities which have represented religion, agriculture and business class, than one can see, agricultural communities have the least amount of earnings, highest risk factor or crop failure, highest risk factor to life, etc.
Money involved in business of religion is huge in India as more and more people become desparate and seek the help of religion due to lack of education and failing government institution. The business class/communities are also a good fodder and a continuous supply of money and resources for religion. While the high taxes from business class should come on to public infrastructure development and other sectors of public use, this never happens.
Role of the Govt is very important in this matter but there seems no initiative from the Govt side to protect the interests of Jat Community. The Central Govt should go for the review petition in this matter. It is also a pertinent question what the Jat leaders and politicians in the Central Cabinet are doing regarding this matter. Issue of Jobs is crucial to Jats.
Rajpalji it seems Jat Ministers in cabinet are for namesake. It reminds me one incidence from Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 48:
....listen to me as I describe that large mass of wealth consisting of various kinds of tribute presented unto Yudhishthira by the kings of the earth. They that dwell by the side of the river Sailoda flowing between the mountains of Meru and Mandara and enjoy the delicious shade of topes of the Kichaka Venu (bamboo) viz., the Khashas, Ekasanas, the Arhas, the Pradaras, the Dirghavenus, the Paradas, the Kulindas, the Tanganas, and the other Tanganas, brought as tribute heaps of gold measured .... waited with their heads bent down at the gate of king Yudhishthira, being refused permission to enter. .....the Kiratas waited at the gate, being refused permission to enter.... The Kairatas, the Daradas, the Darvas, the Suras, the Vaiamakas, the Audumvaras, the Durvibhagas, the Kumaras, the Paradas along with the Vahlikas, the Kashmiras, the Porakas, the Hansakayanas, the Sivis, the Trigartas, the Yauddheyas, the ruler of Madras and the Kaikeyas, the Amvashtas, the Kukuras, the Tarkshyas, the Vastrapas along with the Palhavas, the Vasatayas, the Mauleyas along with the Kshudrakas, and the Malavas, the Paundrayas, the Kukkuras, the Sakas, the Angas, the Vangas, the Pundras, the Sanavatyas, and the Gayas--these good and well-born Kshatriyas distributed into regular clans and trained to the use of arms, brought tribute unto king Yudhishthira by hundreds and thousands.
And the Vangas, the Kalingas, the Magadhas, the Tamraliptas, the Supundrakas, the Dauvalikas, the Sagarakas, the Patrornas, the Saisavas, and innumerable Karnapravaranas, who presented themselves at the gate, were told by the gate-keepers at the command of the king, that if they could wait and bring good tribute they could obtain admission......
Note - These all tribes mentioned in Mahabharata were ancestors of Jats from Central Asia. After thousands of year passed Jats are facing the same situation. They have still to wait at the gates of Yudhisthira. How long ?
Good News !!!
New Delhi, Apr 2 (PTI) The National Democratic Alliance government has petitioned the Supreme Court to review its March 17 verdict scrapping the quota for Jats created by a Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government in 2014.
The Bharatiya Janata Party led NDA government had filed the review petition on Wednesday, a few days after a Jat delegation called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi assured the community leaders that his government would try to find a solution within the legal framework.
The Centre has argued that its power to make available quota for a community is not dependent on the advice of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).
On Tuesday, while dismissing a petition by a group of Jat students seeking benefits of reservation under the OBC category in post-graduate medical and dental courses, the apex court had said the NCBC's recommendations would be ordinarily binding on the government.
The government has argued that the test laid down by the apex court in the Mandal judgement for determination of ”social, educational and economic backwardness” of Jats had been complied with.
The decision to include Jats in Central OBC list was taken after various state panels furnished reports favouring the inclusion, it said.
Earlier, a bench of justices Ranjan Gogoi and R.F. Nariman, setting aside the March 4, 2014, notification that had enabled Jats to claim reservation in nine states, had said that “possible wrong inclusions” cannot be the basis of further inclusion, and reservation should be given only to the ”most distressed”.
The Jats were included in the central list OBCs for getting reservation in states like Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
