Well Desi, this level of personal attacks was expected from you. I knew, you cannot hold yourself for long without getting personal and to a great extent irrational.

It actually was not, but a mere clarification on your lose comment. By the way am happy you replied, for a change be it more of replying to a person(me) not the post.

And you sure dont read what others write? Where did I say command over English is criterion for leadership?

Every time, though unsuccessfully I expect a more mature reply from you.

No reply from me will ever be a matured one for you because beauty my friend lies in the eyes of beholder.

Well Desi, this level of personal attacks was expected from you. I knew, you cannot hold yourself for long without getting personal and to a great extent irrational.

Please read my reply carefully. It is Mr. Modi's prerogative which language he uses just like it is my prerogative which language I use. I am happy that he uses Hindi which is our national language. Tomorrow you are going to question why is Jatland not a Hindi language website. If command over English language is the sole criteria for leadership, then as per your logic the British should be invited again to India because as progenitors of this language, their English is relatively better. So, stop worrying about me whether I think of myself as being ashamed or not self-respected and stay on the topic. It would save a lot of time and energy in case you actually intend (which I doubt considering your responses) to have any serious discussion not only with me but with anyone.

Every time, though unsuccessfully I expect a more mature reply from you.

Following is with reference to the highlighted and red portions in the quoted post:

1. Good to note that you are against personal attacks. It is hoped that you will not use derogatory language against any individual (including the individuals or groups to be discussed) henceforward.

2. Of course language of expression is anyone's discretion (or privilege in your parlance) but you seem to be reluctant to admit that the privilege is out of compulsion in the instant case. If it is really a matter of pride to express oneself in one's national language, why you yourself are so shy of taking this privilege. You also should avail this privilege once in a blue moon (if not very often) to prove your love for it. I don't remember having seen even a single sentence written by you in the 'pride language'. Why the double standards, just to justify your case. I am sure you must be having a little knowledge of the 'language of pride'.

3. Command over English may not the sole criterion but it, for sure, is one of the criteria for efficient leadership, especially in view of the fast changing ethos of governance in the globalized world. It makes a difference in the international fora, if the head of government of a particular country is able to establish a direct connect with his interlocutors abroad and puts across his ideas without the help of any aide or interpreter.

However, being a diehard supporter of the shadow Prime Minister, you seem to be unwilling to accept any argument or criticism, howsoever objective it may be, in a right perspective.

VP Singhji, though I could anyday expect Desi to put up non-issues, I did not expect you to waste ink on non-issues.

My replies to your specific non-issues in bold as follows:

Which derogatory words have I used? In fact, I see in your posts that you get personal with others' replies and in one instance called the opinion (on the topic) expressed by someone as 'spreading filth (kuda felana)'. So, I guess a little introspection as to who uses derogatory words would really help.

As stated earlier, you are stuck with the point as to why I never use Hindi despite yourself admitting that it is my discretion (privilege in my parlance). Again I prefer to use my discretion to use English as a language on an English language website/forum (website). And moreover, how does it affect the topic of this thread or you or anyone else for that matter which language I use as long as the message is put across clearly. So let's not just keep going back and forth just for the sake of saying something (and that too personal). I believe my Hindi is as good as my English or if you please, as bad as my English BUT one thing is for sure, I do not need a certificate from you or your coterie just in the same manner as I would not like to give you any certificate for your qualities.

3. I would tend to disagree with you. English is NOT one of the criteria for efficient leadership. This is a MYTH. Leaders of the developed world (P5 at the UN-Russia, France, China or for that matter Germany) speak their own languages even if they have command over English language. We need to come out of this MYTH which has been built over by this remnant of the British Raj (the Congress party) that the Brown Sahibs (or the imported Goras/Goris) who know English have the divine right to rule the country. If this truly is your belief, then you are doing a great disservice to your nation.

However, being a diehard supporter of the shadow Prime Minister, you seem to be unwilling to accept any argument or criticism, howsoever objective it may be, in a right perspective.

VP Singhji, I know from experience that you have to, by default oppose every post of mine tooth and nail for reasons not clear to me, but I at least expect some rational and cogent replies from a learned man as yourself.

Yes I am a diehard supporter (I am okay with your calling me this) of the face of unbridled and uncorrupted growth and development of modern India as against you and others who are diehard supporters of this corruption tainted Congress which has eaten into the socio-economic fabric of our country for over 60 years.

i dont think any of these two articles reflects that "Modi" is trying to position HIMSELF as HINDU posterboy... that was the point you made and trying to prove... and now you are ending-up at PR and illusion...

Answer to you question:- This is earth, how are you feeling here???

'Incorruptible' in WikiLeaks, Narendra Modi smiles

Narendra Modi and the BJP today made the most of the latest diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks, saying these showed that the Gujarat Chief Minister was "incorruptible" — in fact, "the lone honest Indian politician".

Dated November 2, 2006, the cable sent by Michael S Owen, the Consul General in Mumbai, refers to Modi's growing potential as a national leader of his party and the need to engage with him to "directly" deliver a message on human rights.

In an appraisal of the CM, Owen adds: "Modi has successfully branded himself as a non-corrupt, effective administrator, as a facilitator of business in a state with a deep commercial culture, and as a no-nonsense, law-and-order politician who looks after the interests of the Hindu majority."

You are a "Patient Testing Machine".

Will you please explain how the hell it proves that “MODI” is positioning HIMSELF as “HINDU poster boy”, by giving references of articles written by “BINOY PRABHAKAR”, Sreenivasan Jain and RANA AYYUB????

Was it MODI inside their bodies, when they were punishing their keyboards, or is it Shree Digvijay Singh Ji inside you, whn you are punishing yours???

When the Congressies were not able to tarnish Modi's image with the bogey of communalism, they funnily raise the issue of Modi's inability to address gatherings in English.

Tomorrow they are going to question why does Modi sport a beard or maybe why does Modi wear a watch on his left hand rather than on his right hand? The Congressies are getting funnier in their criticism of Modi with each passing day.

As I said in my posts earlier - they think Modi, eat Modi, drink Modi, sleep Modi - they have Modi nightmares and I am sure they use diapers at night because of Modi nightmares.

May God give these Congressies the inner strength to face the truth.

VP Singhji, though I could anyday expect Desi to put up non-issues, I did not expect you to waste ink on non-issues.

My replies to your specific non-issues in bold as follows:

1. It is disappointing to note that inspite of my best efforts of adopting a precariously bipartisan approach; you and some other friends here have branded me as a devil’s advocate. It could be, perhaps, my failure too to put across my ideas in a suitable and subtle way. For the sake of healthy discussion, I am not running away from the moral responsibility of allaying worthy members’ suspicions and own my failure to do so. Therefore, the best way is to embrace your tag of diehard pro X or anti Y without any further explanations.

2. This was not a non-issue. Level of English which is an important language for all practical purposes and functionalities merits attention while discussing the potential head of government. Further, it is an added qualification for smooth transaction of business in the international arena. When it comes to comparing two towering personalities, each and every aspect of their personality is bound to be touched, including the X factor. So, the discussion was relevant and on-topic.

3. You may not have used derogatory words or language against any other member on this site. But, at times, you have coined derogatory acronyms for certain people and political groups outside JL. You are forgetting the sensitivities of those who may not be subscribing to your viewpoint and could be having a different political ideology to which they are very much entitled without facing any wrath from the fundamentalists from across the fence. I need not to give a list of those posts here, as you, as well as other friends are well aware of. (This is the case in almost every third post).

4. I have already explained my position about use of the inappropriate word in one of my posts under some other thread some time back. As already explained, the slip was due to inappropriate translation of the English word ‘crap’ (which was, perhaps, not derogatory in my opinion). While translating into our ‘pride language’ it all happened. Nevertheless, I have already extended my unqualified apology to Shri Dular Sahab. My apologies to you as well, if I have ever hurt you.

5. Honestly, I do not have any knowledge of any coterie around me.

6. Of course, we do not need to issue certificates of proficiency in language, but we owe explanation to each other on the points of divergence and dispute, if we participate in a civilized debate.

7. The use of their native language by the P5 leaders is nothing more than a symbolism and ceremonial gesture. In actuality, their leaders widely use English when it comes to doing real business with their counterparts across the borders. So, let us not try to explain the ‘poverty of English’ away in the name of ‘national pride’. (हिन्दुस्तान मै जिसनै अंग्रेजी आवै सै वो खूब अंग्रेजी के फूल से बखैरै सै मौका मिलते ही ).
8. Finally, I would like to say that I find you a very well educated and civilized person, I can do business with. But you, perennially, tend to go overboard in your criticism of those who do not fall in line with you. I would also suggest a little introspection, if you don’t mind. I am sorry, I take a dig on you just for seeking some little humour and amusement. But I have all affection for you just like my younger brother.
