A sldiers Journey- Where the Young and younger of Jatland Meet

After reading my recently released book 'A Soldiers Journey through Life with Two Wives. Jit Thakar sent me an e mail desiring a meeting.

For me it was a rare occasion to meet a young Jat lander and i promptly agreed and fixed a lunch appointment with him at DOSI (Defence Officrs Club) Dahula Kuan. New Delhi.

Thakar was already there when I fetched up; after I had signed for him in the Gust register and as we were proceeding towards BAR, the natty Jeens that Thakkar was dressed in became an impediment as they were against the Dress Code of the Club, Defence people can be sticky in the matter of dress. However the receptionist who had pointed the infringement of the club rules had a solution for the problem in producing a trouser that could fit Thakar. Now dressed appropriately both of us could move in.

It was a good meeting, being apprised of the aspersions, problems, obstacles both in professional, social, and personal life of the young of today, the remedies which I had possibly suggested were more suited and appropriate to the problems faced by the earlier Generation.

Present day youth has their own pressure points and have to deal in their own way and find own solutions . More true an applicable for most of the Jat boys who are still bound with the legacy of the background, some if not all.

I wish success to all the young Jatlanders in life and only advise I can give is for them to improve their employability by improving their communication skills , awareness about the world around, that is different from their chosen field. also continuously upgrade their technical/ professional skills.

Once again it was so nice of Thakar to have come all the way from Jaipur the trigger being my book . Thanks Jeet and best of Luck.

Respected Uncleji,

Its nice to see your note about our meeting. :)

Indeed, it was matter of pleasure and privilege to meet you and have lunch together. It was also wonderful and enlightening experience to share thoughts, problems and solutions.

The book you have written is certainly a masterpiece and indeed one of finest I've read till now. I got deeply influenced with the book and was eager to meet you in person and finally my wish came true. You're a wonderful person, a thorough gentleman, blue blooded Jat and a true soldier. Its great to meet you and was quite enlightening as well.

Hahaha, it became little humiliating yet amusing situation after wearing that trouser, seriously. It was loose in waist and fitting was not good. But I appreciated DOSI for the code and its solution as well.

Jatlanders, Its kinda disappointing .. that sucha notable person has written a wonderful book and nobody is paying heeds to. It is privilege to have Brig Lakshman singh as member of Jatland. Comeon, people read the book 'A Soldiers Journey through Life with Two Wives'. Although it is autobiography of Brig Uncle but in general it applies and depicts life of Indian Soldier. You certainly gonna miss a thing if you don't read it.

Cheers!

Jit

After reading my recently released book 'A Soldiers Journey through Life with Two Wives. Jit Thakar sent me an e mail desiring a meeting.

I was having lunch , the other day with my third generation niece, along with others, born and brought up in UK engaged to be married soon, on a visit to India' .

She was earlier also present at my book launch .

'You have read the book?' I inquired.
'Yes'. she replied.

'I have a question which would be an input for my next book'
'OK'

" coming to the record of courtship in the book ; currently you are passing through the same phase, what difference you find in Then and Now?"

'There was mysticism then; it is more direct now.' she replied after some contemplation'.

A sign of change of time : I could ask a direct question on a subject Taboo Then and she could directly respond to that without hesitation Now. BLS31

A Jat lady after reading my book writes :

Sir, please allow me to convey something which I wish to say since the time I have finished reading your book “A Soldier’s Journey through Life with two Wives”.
I appreciate your perspective and point of view of writing it which also gives the reader an opportunity to know you better. In very well chosen words you have expressed your emotions that compel us to respond emotionally and imaginatively. You have filtered everything through your perceptions, which most of the time seems to be so true and genuine. There were some abrupt transitions but I liked your controlled style of putting thoughts and ideas across. I also admire your integrity towards both wives -Jeet as well as the country. It is indeed a beautiful tribute to both of them.
Though very sad about the cruel separation but God has its own way of making us remember him. It’s also very shocking revelation in the last lines of your book, which in your terms puts you in the same league as your beloved wife- is highly appalling , disturbing and sad.
The whole thing must have left a big void but God has blessed you with the power of good skills and competencies which has allowed you to spread the fragrance of your loved one. Like a true soldier you have coped up every difficulty may be because of her spiritual eyes that were & are watching, guiding you, bringing conviction and consolation at every step. We do look forward to your next book on your experiences with RAW, of which you mentioned in this book.
I wish you sunshine of tomorrow.

Congratulations on taking another brave step (well, getting involved with your first and only mistress- Indian Army, of course being the other) by deciding to pen down your life and experiences!!!...… Being the son of an Army Colonel (Late Col. Rajendra Singhji of the 4 Jats regiment) and having enjoyed a joyous childhood living in the awesome army campus Cantonments where ever he was posted...I feel part of the culture and am enjoying the excerpts very much…. A book like this always intrigues the reader about the author and even about some of the associated names, incidents and events in there (or simply the ambiance of those times and places).... therefore I would greatly suggest that you should plan to take some time and rife thru all the wonderful Black and white pictures you must have clicked, archived,…

You have written it superbly ... words stringed into sentences with so much of feeling involved that while I was reading your extracts ... I was feeling like it was before my eyes and I am with you at that moment ... you have poured all your feelings in such a way that its just like illustrative ..... and for the part of her departure my eyes gone wet with the feel of it on... this is the inevitable truth and we all have to accept it ...
Sure sir ... please post few more ... and surely will read this one when published. ... Dont feel that who will read it.... you have done a great job

Dharampal Singh Dudee
Many congratulations for your new book, look forward to read it soon….

The fall out of the trouser exchange:
I have been penalised by Rs 50 for violating the dress code in my latest DSOI Bill .However, I was saved from the embarrassment so it is small price to pay.

Brigadier Lakshman!

Knowing Jit, now I wish to meet you when I come to India in October. Since I am from NOIDA too, I will save you the hassle of driving all the way to DSOI. Maybe we could meet up at AVI in Sector 29.

My father was a Major in the army when he passed away prematurely. I always wanted to be in the Army just like him but a severely disabling accident after High School killed all my hopes. Later I followed my brothers footsteps and moved to the US. As my health improved, while in college I signed up with US Army Reserves. Now, in the middle of my other career plans I have been activated and am reporting for duty in January 2010.

Life has come full circle. I am going to be an Army Officer just like my father. I am sure, even though we wear uniforms for different countries, our experiences are going to be very similar. It will be great to meet up with you and hear your perspective on military service.
