Good luck, Sumit! I wish he could come and write a few things himself.. to begin with.

Sure thing Abhimanyu. I only shared a part of what he has to say intiially with you , let me do that in full now. And also I will ask him to come to JL and try and answer a few of the questions.

Ofcourse your suggestions and feedback are highly appreciated.

===================================================

I need you.

CHANGE....Yes this is the most frequently discussed topic among us
today. We want change....change from the direction the country is
on,change from the system which has not given us anything even after
62 years of independence, change from corruption, from votebank politics
and what not.We have already wasted hours discussing what should be
changed and how it should be changed.Let it be any
place.....offices,college canteens,drawing rooms,public transports and
last but not the least social networking websites.....we have never
left any opportunity to discuss the so called...CHANGE.Sometimes I
have a fear that such discussions might become a style statement
because all talks and no actions for long will make us a personality
who believe in adjustments.Yes, I am talking about those people who
with time have accepted the system and have adjusted with it.

I have decided to take my step.I am not sure what might be the
outcome, whatever it be,I want to move ahead.Politics is dirty.I too
accept it.But there is one point where we differ. We have democracy and
in democracy the only way u can bring that change is through geting
into politics.I am sorry, not discouraging anyone, only social work
will not help.We need to take firm steps. If politics is dirty, should
we not get into it?I think the opposite, its dirty because people like
you and me are not into it.We need to take a step and I have taken
mine.

I am contesting the coming assembly elections(MLA) in Haryana which
are scheduled in the first half of October(date not yet finalised).I
will be contesting from Beri constituency. The present MLA is
Dr.Raghubir Singh Kadian,Speaker,Haryana Vidhan sabha. It will be a
tough fight because contesting against a veteran like Dr.Kadian for a
young boy of 25 is not a child's play. But more than age what matters
is thoughts and I have them.I am neither worried nor afraid about the results.
A warrior is recognised more by the battles than the victories.

I seek your support. In any way if you can help in this fight to bring
the change,however small help,it will a worthy contribution.Its time
to move ahead than mere talks and discussions.I am one of you and I
have started the war, lets fight it together. If you have any known person whom we can convince to vote for a better tomorrow,do come forward and help. This
is youth power and it has the potential to be counted.Lets deliver,
because if we will not, we will not be having answers for our silence. My this effort will be a waste if I fail to motivate you.
I need you today because without you all, this battle cant be won.

Regards,
Sumit Dalal.

Anil thanks for posting this over here but this speech is good to read and its only subjective nothing empirical is given.
Why dont you ask Sumit himself come and talk how he plans to bring the change he wants to see, what kind of change( there is always a change but it should be for the good) and what are his plans??

Politics is something where people usually ask for support/vote before the perfrmance unlike in reality shows. Money and power always makes a man corrupt nobody is born corrupt.

Dear all everybody wants to see the change me, you n others but how it will come and how the one who are talking will bring this thats the thing.

All support to anyone who puts there word in action for the change with tan, mann n dhan.

Hello everybody,

To start with I want to congratulate my fellow Jatlanders, who have shown the true spirits of democracy.Yup,''to ask'' ...... is the true spirt. The way some questions has been put regarding my plans and my dimensions of change is highly appreciable. This is how democracy should work.I also welcome the suggestions put forward by the respected members.

Coming to my ideas and thoughts regarding the points put forward by u all.

''Why no social work and straight entry into politics by contesting elections?''
I have strongly believed that there is a difference between social work and democratic politics. And i preferred maintaining the diffrence.I am not sure how much you people have been associated with the ground politics of the villages.Social work is alltogether a different concept. It will uplift the society, but in counteries where there is democracy, everything will be controlled by the political structure.I will explain by example.Social activists are fulfilling the gap left by the government. In other words where the governments fail in its functions, social work groups takes responsibilities.
Other thing is that one should never get into social work to make a name to enter into politics at some later stages. We have plenty of social groups working for the upliftment of the society, but for the upliftment of the nation we need LEADERS,that we are lacking. And this is the reason my areas of social work and politics has been different. One is in Delhi and other is in Haryana.

Political leaders should be recognised by the movements he had participated in and not by the donations or contributions he had made in the social work.I brand myself of the lines of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose,Mahatma Gandhi,Jai Prakash Narayan,S P Mukherjee,Atal Bihari Vajpayee etc.And as far I have read and learnt about the above leaders noone evr got into social work except Gandhi Ji, and he too did it in the later stages.

''What alone I will do when not in government?''
If I will speak with stats and history there might be countless examples to answer this. But I will just say......I find this statement quiet pessimistic.Youth is recognised by its energy and unrealistic dreams and plans.Let me stick to my recognition. The history has been evident in itself that unrealistic dreamers have made the diffrence.BJP too started with 2 seats in the early 80's.The answer to this question will be incomplete if I will not discuss the democratic political theory here.In democracy more than the government, responsibility is in the hands of the opposition. We should not forget this.Unresponsible government can only be tamed by responsible opposition.

''What change I want to bring?''
We can write and discuss about this for days together. So ,there is no much utility to revise you about the topic because we have already done our Masters in the subject ......CHANGE.I will add just one point from my side.We all believe that good educated people with the intentions to serve the people should come forward, take responsibilty and get into politics.Movies like 'YUVA' and 'RANG DE BASANTI' has always fluctuated our adrenaline rush.A very high percentage of my respected Jatlanders are aspiring politicians. They have their own plans to get into politics some day.I differ with all of them. Why 'some day'?Why not 'today'?People have plans like......let me settle down, let me earn this much of amount, let me build this much of contacts.......than I will get into politics.I just made a plan......that the call is youth should get into politics and take responisibilites and I will not wait for 'some day' in my life, You never know that we may not be even alive to witness that 'some day'.I have taken the step. This is only change I want to talk and discuss about. Why to aspire for being a doctor, engineer or any other professional, why not a LEADER.

My chances in election and for selecting a tough constituency?

I will try and update it regularly.

Its nice to see young generation chosing politics as a career. This is need of the day. Good Luck Sumit.

best of luck

Sumit has not only written here well but in his constituency he is doing well people are fond of his speeches. I have heard from peoples that there is something substancial in this Guy. I heard in my village that he speaks well and very inspirational. So best of luck ....

Sanjay

Let me wait and watch

Great to see young blood coming fwd and has rolled up sleeves to clean the dirty politics. Congrats and all the best Sumit.

But .... I watched the videos and I found it very much similar to other politicians speech except yours is more Joshila.

I have no hesitation saying that I am doubting you because the name Politics doesn't allow me to trust anyone completely. So, I would like to wait and watch. The day I will realize you are not influenced by the our dirty politics and your really motto is what you said in your speech, I shall be a great fan of you and you will be no less than Bhagat Singh in my sight.
So, brother my best wishes with you and hope that you will really do what you said in your speech and what is written in the opening post of this thread. Personally I do not see my career in Politics but if everything goes as said then I shall be glad to help a lil bit to stronger the party and its vision as per my capability.

Please do not take this post other way. I have just expressed my views and I hope you will respect that.

His Dad Ramesh Dalal, founder of the 'Sawtantra Party", sounds a familiar name.
I believe, he is the same gentleman, who has written the Book"Rajiv gandhi's assassination:Mystry unfolds and was called as a witness in the case! I also believe, he was seeking congress ticket in the past but was denied and fought as an independent candidate!
As Sid has said, i am waiting to see their manifesto and any new ideas there in.To be honest, Sumit has chosen a tough path. Forming and leading a new party to power needs the charisma of a "Tau" or NTR or proven administrative and leadership skills of Choudhry Bansilal.
I don't wish to discourage Sumit but the outcome doesn't sound that optimistic.
I remember in early nineties, one young Internation boxer "sangwan" with help of many student leaders formed some party and contested the election but failed to register their pretense. For Sumit also, I have this fear, this energetic youngman might get lost in obscurity of the future, that would be very cruel.

Cheers!

As a Critic

My above post was as a sympathizer. As many of us have put it and I agree to some extent that he is one of us! But the same time, I disagree considering the ground reality that is different.

His father formed a party and and brought him in politics. Other politicians brought their family members after they become famous, to carry on their legacy but for him, no big name to cash, no resources, no party following not even the many 'darbaaris' to organize. I think, they haven't even done any home work. They seems to be in a hurry!

No doubt, he is a good orator but his speeches lack any vision and philosophy. It looks like, he has well rehearsed and delivered. I mean a leader's speech needs spontaneity and depth.

I believe, his platform is weak and should have started with any established party or brand name. There have been good people in the politics and every political party in the past and now as well.

Nevertheless, my best wishes to Sumit and his party for the forthcoming election!

Cheers!

Thanks to all those who wished him luck. I take them on his behalf being his ardent critic, friend and more like brother.

Thanks to Dev and Satyepal Ji for the criticisms and a sense of distrust. That is highly acknowledged and appreciated.

Let me put down a couple of my points to try and wipe out some of your non-trust issues.

Yes , he is son of Ramesh Dalal and the very same person who authors the book Satyepal Ji mentioned and a Congressmen earlier. Frankly I have very lil ideas and knowledge on Ramesh Ji.

Lets talk about Sumit , agreed that being the son of the politician and now contesting elections does not sound fresh and new but there are a couple of notable things , one , he is not having a established background , so it is an uphill task for him , so we must praise the courage of this 25 year old(young)boy to not only take on seasoned opponents but also to venture into a career which many of us would reject on the very outset ( including me !).

I have been his biggest critic because I believe that one's critic make one more good , I have discussed things at length with him and I personally do not believe that his philosophy and ideas lack any depth. He is mature , seen things from close , seen the typical Haryana village life , mentality and also have some experience of the modern India context and lifestyle.
One thing on which we differ is the planning , I believe in that and he does not a lot. Not to say he is totally unplanned but he is of the opinion that we should not plan too much and in the process keep postponing things. That is precisely the reason he decided to contest this election , salute to his braveness and fearless nature on this.
Where he can easily live a easy and modern life and do some nice AC job , he choose to bear the heat , wrath and tough people and processes.
One thing that defines this guy is his passion. He has pasion for work , people and country. He is a great follower of Bhagat Singh and other freedom fighters and believes that the country need young and fresh leaders. I think we all know the present state of affairs in our country and not to be biased to any political party I truly believe that some of these extra hyped "young indian leaders" have got things too easily and they have gone into the mode of NO ACTION.

I ask a very simple question to all of these young MPs and leaders : What one single novel Idea have you brought in the Indian context while having probably the most leverage of all people?
And I reaffirm people that I am not being biased to any party or person. Just that it does not feel great that people who have the power / authority and leverage are not doing enough for us.

Regarding Deshwal Ji's comment of "should have started with a recognised party" , I beg to disagree. There ain't shortage of quality and constructuve work and one should not wait for a big political party to invite and/or associate to start good work. A young and educated person is politics is a good work in itself. And we all know and understand the heirarchy and the beaureaucracy that goes on in well defined and organised big systems , political parties being no exception. If one is determined , passionate and willing to do hard work , success can only be delayed.

I started this thread as an appeal from a common person to make an informed chocie (vote) and I thank you all who managed time to read and/or post.

Please keep your suggestions and criticisms coming for a young man who if not anyone else is One of Us, I repeat : If not any one else is One of Us :) !

Best,
Anil

Akela Chana Bhad nahi fod sakta

Yaar we need a solid democrtic party,
Yahan to tickets upar se milti hain, where as the Party workers of a particular party should decide who should contest the election.

Congresh mein to Sonia Decide karegi
aur INLD MEIN Choutala Sahab decide karte hain ki Koun kahan se contest karega , this is not the democracy.

Party workers mein internal election se decide hona chahiye.

Hum voters ke pas to choice hi nahi hai , saare hi unwanted log khare ho jate hian.

Kis ko vote de.

????

Yes, approach should be 'bottom to top' here.

With due regards , I beg to disagree. It is all good sitting and doing nothing but I have always been a fan of doing "something" , which is much much better than doing "nothing".

Why do you need others to change your own mentality? Are we not strong enough to see for ourselves what is good and what is not?
Do we do our homeworks? How many of us actually reach out and try to understand and know the people we are voting for? Are we not a party to the "BhedChaal"?

"Last time AAA ko vote diya tha , susron ne kimai na kiya , is baar BBB ko de dein sain..." Is not that the typical lines of thought we all possess?

And then we are all sound enough to realise that "akela chana bhaad nahi fod sakta" , Why is it impossible? We talk N number of hours and pages discussing the issues , politics , role of Youth in politics , importance of Educated Representatives , "Saaf chavi" and blah blah blah ... But how many of us actually make an effort to even "TRY" do our lil bit.
How many of us have called home and asked our parent to not go by emotions and make a rational choice? Or if we liked someone how many of us have tried to convince our known ones for the same? Or found out one day from our life ( 1 in 5 years is not a lot !) to really try to find out a nice person who can represent us.
We all spend lot of hours "undedicatedly" (though dedicated to JL and its Current affairs chunaav masala section) but cannot do it more professionally and officially because we "all" are so much pressed in life! :)

I do not believe ( though I certainly hope and wish for!) that a democratic , fair and educated/rational party will fall from heavens one fine day! And by following the philosophy that "akela chana..." , we are even discouraging those who are bold enough to take a step!
Encouragement is all that they need to take the further few steps and who knows what can happen next! :)

Anil

well said, Yaar Anil I agree with you to show courage and try to fight for change but be realist to it also.

The D Day is around the corner. Yes I am being a realist. This is for real. A 26 year boy who is educated and who shared all the dreams just like us is willing to jump in this politics arena which many of us just reject outright.

This is for real , this is for the youth , this is for the change , this is fresh , this is for us. :)

Support him and elect him.

Thanks,
Anil

Good luck to Sumit.

Agree with him on the social work vs political participation angle. I think
it depends on person to person how they want to contribute.

I guess many of us have entertained the idea of politics at one
point of time or the other. He is actually taking some concrete steps
and putting some wood behind the arrow...So hard for anyone of us to
give advice here.

I guess the biggest challenge I see is how does one stand out in the crowd
especially when contesting elections on your party's ticket when the
party itself is unknown.

I havent watched the videos neither saw him speaking in public. But heard from a few that he is promising and they were influenced by Sumit. But when I asked about vote they said bhai vote to apne aale ki ee gerni padegi. Almost each and everybody is linked to some party or leader in this small state.

I see win-win situation for Sumit career wise. He is an advocate and well identified/recognised as an individual after this election. I heard that he is not criticising others much but putting his words/points. So there are all probabilites of joining other parties too later on.

But finding a young guy into politics is good. Jo hai usse to bura ye karenge nahi ... kuch to aacha hi laenge aage.

Good Luck Sumit, carry on.
