Anju, May I ask you to go through this post once again n find where there is an assumption that the the 'couple in this picture' are of same gautra. But still if it forced you to draw some conclusion, can not help it.

My post was a 'reply' to some post....and my concern was if we should DISCOURAGE such type of marriages or not in any given village. N my opinion is YES we should discourse as far as possible because it spoils the the hormony and system of the village. Though legally the marriage in this incident is valid....but wat if tomorrow such type of marriages start start happenin at finer level...(say in same gautra because our law does not speak about such marriages)?? Now you hear it LOUD that I am mentioning somethin of same gautra !!

Finally a comment that goes against the utopian villages...:o

A question for the worthy contributors to this thread- Is it a fair assumption that the couple belonging to the same caste and village will also have the same "Gaut"?

(Or may be I am from a more cosmopolitan village:rolleyes: or I am mis-informed)
Regards

Sunil,
Please allow me to elaborate: You had raised two valid points, that I agreed with and quoted. My post was in no way addressed to question your personal stand or opinion. It was not intended to offend you.
Regards

Yes, i observed that immediately ( the satire ).

More you read about the Tughlaki decisons made by those Khaps more you would feel like living in a stane age. So it's better that just feel pity on the people who are suffering because of these Khaps, prey for them to be blessed with some sense and move ahead for your peace of mind. :)

pls also look hv a look at this suggestion

Yes please, let's add a poll with 2 simple options:
1. Let's kill them
2. Let them live

Also, the poll should have the name of the voters against the choice (I have seen that on another poll in JL).

I had thought growth of a rational mind was part of human evolution!!!!!
ahahaha... so whats yr opinion now? you mean to say jats dont have a rational mind or d'u mean to say that they are still evolving? please be specific. :p

please also take some time to elaborate on "rational mind(s)". yr contribution to this wud be highly appreciated.
;)

Brahmji,
Laadi bhuss mein aag...:)...
let's start a new thread- which topic would be preferable-
1) Evolution of Jats, or
2) Jats and Rationality...(My choice, controversial the better!!!!)

There are idiots in all castes and communities (and nationalities). Or show me a research which shows a statistically significant correlation for more number of idiots amongst Jats...:)

It would be an easy research with sample population as......the lynch mob...:D....
And the comparative analysis would need some sponsors..!!

But that would be the classical selection bias problem. When your underlying data is biased, your results would be biased.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selection_bias
For the right research, your data would need to be a)sufficiently large to remove noise b)random to remove bias.

dont think we have more than 30 active members co ntributing to threads , so no study on JL ! not statistically significant :p
!

Poll , yeah lets do it , but the options can be increased to more:

1) Against such acts but also against honour killings.
2) Against such acts and in favour of honour killings!
3) Against honour killings irresepective.
4) Against such acts irrespective.
5) I do not care watever!

Basically I am a fan of Nash and so am putting forward a win-win strategy , not going to give anyone any more hints ;)

=======

And regarding these two topics :
1) Evolution of Jats, or
2) Jats and Rationality...(My choice, controversial the better!!!!)

Well why restrict them to Jats ;) they are worth discussing anyways !!!

We are living in an highly irrational and stubborn (read it as self-centric , over confident , superiority complex) world ;) Hope that gives you a flavour of what I would be writing if such threads are made :p :D :o

Anil....
you have provided enough food for thought.....:)

Who has the right to kill??

Things are different and complicated in the rural settings, especially with us Jats who, well most of ‘em, are so orthodox and flaunt a false pride in sticking to them.

I’m sure, no parent would want to see their kids being lynched for whatever reason, it’s mostly the social pressure which keeps them mute.

I really don’t want to get into the discussion, which again can be ‘fought’ at length though, regarding Jat customs/traditions and marriages etc (though as someone correctly pointed out that scientifically it is a blessing in disguise but I want to make a point here that, on those lines, it is even better if we start having nuptials outside of our community…or may be nation…This would keep our gene pool extremely diverse and low risk to genetic disorders.!! But who would try to explain this to our dystopian ‘buddhas’..not me…:D heheh).

Also, I’m sure these rigid rules are going to fade away pretty soon with more global future generations.

Having said that, the only point I want to make here in this post is:
No one has the right to take the life of another human being. Period!

Also want to remind people:
The right to life is one of the basic rights enshrined in the UN Declaration of Human Rights.

Alas!! The pity is who would tell this to our hard core 'buddhas' (Apologies, if I did offend someone's sensibilities, couldnt find a better word..:o)

Can we really be so insane??

I was not able to jump into this thread as my keyboard went kaput and it is not very friendly to write with onscreen keyboard.

Again this seemed like a typical JL thread(all know why). Few people were flabbergasted and started shouting for capital punishment.

I would like to know how can a punishment that is considered as an obligation to be given only in most serious of the serious cases when the accused is/are an absolute threat to the society be given to a couple who may be in tender age and innocent. Here we need to argue how can they be a threat to society, following are few possibilities:

1. They try ruining your kids by personally tutoring them how to elope with a lover.
2. They produce many kids who in turn elope with SANE society member's kids.
3. Like wise there can be endless possibilities so that they can be considered serious threat and hence charged for an act of felony.

We really are hooligans if we think they should be outrightly punished severely just for loving. So what it is not good to marry in same gotra(I too believe its not good if u are trying to rip me apart here:tamatar), so what they married in same village, so what they ran away, You always have the easy option of cutting all the ties but no one has the right of cutting their lives. Why can't we just let them be and let them rot in hell and have BIOLOGICALLY SICK offsprings and serve all gods fury that is supposed to come.

At last I would like to say marrying same caste etc should be demotivated but killing someone for this reson is outrightly barbaric.

You are saying all this just because you are in USA. I just learnt today from a worthy member that only if you are in US/UK, you can believe in such highly immoral things like right to life....:D (Though I am still not able to recall when the immigration officer gave me these lessons)

Human rights or no Human rights,,,,,,those who do these kind of acts should not be spared at all.

Le hain ar USA/UK ke example den laag jyaa se,,,,,who decides human rights there,,,,,its there society and here we are living in our society,,,,,Jats have there own traditions and rules:rock

Its not against Pardha-System or any such small issue,,,,,it is much much serious,,,,,,there are families which take hard decisions whether some Panchayat supports them or not support them
