Ayodhya attack: Terrorists storm disputed structure

The fact of the matter is terrorist attacks outside of Kashmir have been
very half hearted. With urban India teeming with people, and no paucity
of public targets, it is quite surprising that terror attacks outside of Kashmir
have been very limited and those attempts that have been made have been
directed at well guarded and fortified areas (parliament, ram janambhoomi).

I think if these terror organisations decide to step up their terror outside
such areas and targets, they can inflict considerable more damage and
generate substantical more terror than we have experienced thus far. Looking
at the incidents in Iraq should give a fair idea of what can be in store.

Bottom line is that with a seemingly unending stream of terrorists who are
willing to commit suicidal attacks, these terrorists have a lot more ammo
than India is really prepared for.

I guess the only really frustrating thing for these terrorists is India's time
tested response mechanism of "yeh sab toh hota rehta hai, kya karen ?". The
only time the terrorists must have felt juiced up was after the attack
on Parliament when after all the huffing and puffing it actually seemed
that India planned to seriously do something. But we all knew better, didn't we ?

Bhai Raj Rathi,

I don't agree with your views that their afforts outside Kashmir have been whole hearted. I hope you still remember Bombay attacks, Akshardham temple attacks and red fort attacks. These have been all daring attacks.

and you know, jab paani sur ke oopar se utarne lagta hai to uska unjaam bhi utna hi bhayankar hota hai. Fir anaz ke sath ghun bhi pista hai..We all might see a day when to kill this cancer, whole nations might have to be finished along with innocent populations. This can not be ruled out at some point of time in future. Terrorism is nothing but a well established industry now like opium and other drugs. Most politicians in Pakistan have their own versions of lashkars. whole world knows it now. Trouble is that countries like USA have double standards on terrorism. The day they have same views as India and Russia, it won't take 15 days to bomb Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, the mothers of all terrorism in world. Terrorism is nothing but Saudi money and Paki tranining camps. World has to gather just some will power to strike it once for all.

Finally, as I mentioned in some other post, terrorism is like jukam khansi and its here to stay. We have to learn how to live with it and deal with it. Chambal dacoits were nothing but terrorists. We in India are the most trained to deal with them. May be USA can outsource our services here.... LOL
Even a single indian casualty in such attacks is one too many, just because we are 1 billion in numbers doesnt mean that countries like pakistan and bangladesh can kill some 100 of ours and get away with it. I remember this quote somewhere ( may be in this forum itself) and fits here nicely :One is liberal as long as he is not mugged. and I guess that sums up my point of view.

Abhishek,

You said we shouldn't let Pakistan and Bangladesh get away with it. Couple of questions:
What do you suggest we should do?
How will it improve conditions back home?

Thanks,

Respected Virendra uncle ji,

Can we equate L-E-T with VHP and RSS....as later does not carry out terrorism and Suicide attacks on foreighn land.Just enhancing knowledge! As regards Security..........There is no security in this country........it is a free walk baring a few big-wigs security.

Dear Dhruv,
We surely can't equate L-E-T with VHP and RSS, but they do the same damage to the country as the LET or any other fundamentalilst organization. We are a democracy of different religions, faiths and languages. This country can't do well with the ideal of Hindutva as propogated by the VHP and its allies. We need to have Indian card that needs to be taught to people and implemented in letter and spirit. We can't have different faiths making the law of land subservent. If family planning is the need of hours, it has to be implemented irrespective of the faith and religion one belongs to. All those who live with in the boundries of Indian Union needs to follow the law of this land, which has to be uniform for all. I think that is the need of the hour. We don't want divisive forces to have a say in shaping the destiny of our nation.

Dear Abhishek,

6. What has happened at Indore airport is shameful for the CM of MP. The CM should be dismissed. Reaching up to the tarmac and holding an aircraft is unprecedented in the world history. BJP government in MP should be dismissed for this lapse. What message these jokers are sending to whole world?
RK^2

And It is also not less unfortunate that CM of Rajasthan said in a public meeting in jaipur that all the govt. employee should come out from the offices during the work time to support the BAND .although later she taken back her words due to strong protest of opposition and officers.

Change Indian's attitude!!

I don't care about Pakistan & bangladesh. We should not compete with them. They are trailing behind us in all fronts except terrorism. On the terrorism issue, we should pay them back in the same coin. Never let Kashmir slip out of our hands. On other fronts, they are just backward. No comparison at all...so. no talks!

My deepest concern is internal security..not only because of islamic terrorists(we all know their threat) but other threats from Naxals, Bodos, khalistan, Maoists etc. They are here to divide our country. Indian govt. should, by any means, crush these risings. I'll also blame BJP, VHP, RSS for their fundamentalist attitude. They should also be moderated. These days I read about these in news a lot. And being a hindu, it pinches.
What we should do:
- A true Indian should be NATIONALIST...love your country. see positive not negative. Change ur attitude!
- No fundamentalism...Muslims, hindus, Sikhs they should all refrain.
- No caste/religion based politics
- More freedom to indian females and stopping their abuse.
- Smaller regional parties should be merged with bigger national parties of similar interest.
- Strong govt. at centre which should feel responsible for india's internal security rather than blaming Pakistan and others.
- Strong opposition in the parliament to facilitate better decision making for ruling party.

***I highlighted some of these points..but it's a long list. But starting point is my first point.

Following this, the conditions back home are bound to improve automatically.

Yes, Thats Like a True Indian..

We have must need to be nationalist not only in words but also in our did...
As you have said that regional parties should be merged with bigger national parties because all regional parties have their own interest and they don't want to care the national issues like , development, internal & outer security, foreign policy etc and I think Election Commission can play good role in this matter...
BJP's card of HINDUTAV is not good for the health of our country.. we will have to understand that INDIA will remain safe/strong when all community member will live happily with each other without any fear....

Our opposition leaders and British opposition leaders on Terroris

I am really shocked and ashamed at the attitude of our opposition parties when it comes to terrorists acts like this. I am reproducing what British opposition leaders have to say about London blasts;

Conservative leader Michael Howard and Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy both sent their sympathies to those injured and the families of those killed.

And they praised the "heroic" work of the emergency services.

Mr Howard said it was a "dreadful day for London and for our city" and pledged his party's full support for the government.

"This country is completely united in our determination to defeat terrorism and to deal with those who are responsible for the appalling acts that we have seen today," he said.

The Tory leader said Londoners had put up with bombings and disruption before and "the sprit of Londoners was absolutely solid and strong".

Solidarity call

Mr Kennedy said: "What has happened is appalling and those who carried out these attacks must be brought to justice...

"The moral contrast between those who seek to disrupt and destroy and those who are trying to build for the future [at the G8 summit] could not be more stark. The terrorists must not prevail."

Now compere the above with what Advani and co. are doing in India. BJP should be ashamed of itself. Advani and co. are mistaken that people in India will vote them for such irresponsible behaviour.

This is, I think is, a very indian response. I can still recall the statements of congress and leftist spokespersons in the aftermath of Parliament attack and they weren't soothing either and I feel that was far more lethal compared to what happened in Ayodhya. They may be wearing a starched red bordered dhoti aur white starched pyjama with proverbial nehru jacket you can predict their responses when something on these lines happen.
And yes there were five of them, the one whoe died in jeep blast was a poor "panda".
Jeep blast victim a panda

Abhishek,

I question your recollection regarding Parliament attack and such. Please read from the links below:

http://www1.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/cms.dll/articleshow?art_ID=1417136356

Talk about difference in approaches, when our Parliament was attacked, entire opposition backed our Government to take whatever actions necessary to tackle terrorists just like the reaction we've seen in Britain or in US or elsewhere. But now BJP, VHP are calling bandhs, stopping planes from taking off, and their CMs asking govt. employees to stop work (read: http://www.tribuneindia.com/2005/20050707/main1.htm#4).

I think at any moment when our nation is attacked, ALL should stand united in answering terrorists. And anyone be it BJP or Congress, that does not, needs to be shunned. It's really unfortunate that BJP, VHP in this incident have weighed their political gains over India.

No one should be allowed to treat themselves above the nation, however nationalistic they may claim to be.

You are right deepender bhiya. What kind of act they did at many places in Rajasthan during the bandhs was really unfortunate. at some places they thrown the material of shops on the road somewhere they stopped many roadways buses and beaten many shopkeepers. In jaipur many vhp and bjp workers misbehaved with the foreigner ladies.
Is it the way by which they should act?

Dear Deepender,

I am sure all political parties coming together, whatever be the tragedy, has been and will remain a distant dream. In fact at present there is no political party based on ideologies. Barring a few, for present day political goons whom we call leaders, the only ideology is to get elected for which they change party at every opportune moment. Now the ruling party is crying hoarse about the behaviour of opposition parties. What they were doing when they were in opposition has been seen by all. This is nothing new. Most of the present Ministers, Lalu et al, started their politics during JP movement by indulging in the same acts. Now, the situation is even worse. Today's BJP hooligan may be tomarrow's respectable Congressi samaj sudharak. Even Shiv sainiks become sacred when they join congess and staunch congressi become a janamjat sadhu on joining BJP/Shiv Sena. During Janta rule in 1977, Sanjay and his goons had indulged in the worst kind of goondagardi and looted even shops in Connaught Place. Most of these Congressies had disrupted the normal life for as ludicrous a reason as the death of Indira Gandhi's bitch while India was in Jail and had gone to the extent of portraying the death of the bitch as a conspriacy of the then Janta Government. Workers of Congress had even hijacked a plane to please their bosses. Hence, talking ill of each other in Indian politics is the easiest thing to do. Every time a political party, be it a or z, is in opposition they will continue to behave in the same manner. Hence, expecting or justifying anything on past precedents should be no criteria. As long as politics remain a lucrative option the situation will remain the same. Keeping in view the goonda elements are coming into Parliament I shudder to think of the day when they would start killing each other in the House itself.

Bhai Mukesh,

Kiss-2 ko goli maroge ? Hai koi essa jisko government chalane ki akal ho ? Ek taraf koochh log hain jo Ram ke aage nahin soch sakte, doosre taraf aaj jo rule kar rahen hain woh Sonia Devi ki puja archna main itne tallin hain ki desh ke bare main sivay committiyan set up karne ke koochh nahin kar sakte. Agar aap dhyan se Indian politics ko dekhen to dekhenge ki wahi PM safal huye jo kisi remote control ke bina kaam kar sake the. In that category falls JL Nehru, Shastri, Indira Gandhi before emergence of Sanjay and Vajpayee in matters in which RSS did no interest. Indira failed when Sanjay started controlling her, Morarji had Kanti's interests uppermost in mind, and Rajiv had a full coterie. Sardarji can't even breath without Sonia's permission and signing important files has to take orders from Madam and consent of redies. Others' were too insignificant and leading a coalition government only.

Hi,

There was a difference between attack on parlimanet and our religiuos place e.g. ayodhya..

an I think Advani is doing right thing..( its my personal opinion)..

I know we all have to make efforts towards better development of our country and think beyond our religion.

But what the present government is doing increse the subsidy on HAZ yatra increase the quota of muslims in AMU.

why they dont implement common civil code.

If France can do that why dont we ??????????

Today british is also feeling a same threat and danger of Islamic extremism.

and hopefully they will definately make some changes in their immigiration policy.

I know both party congress and bjp are bad. But will support that party which is less bad.

I remembered those days in 1996 election year in haryana , Mr bansilal honestly agreed that 'every politician is correct, but vote for them who is less corrupt '

and everybody knew the result He won a election.

so if we have politicain like mulayam singh yadav or maulana mulayam ( who was photographed with jawed miandad recently, and now everone knows miandad's son os going to marry dawood 's daughter )

we will always have leaders like advani and Togadia in reaction.

Again, its my personal issue..

Sehrawat ji,

I think as far as root analysis goes we are in agreement: whoever sees political gains ahead of national interest should be comdemned, regardless of party lines. They exhibit this kind of irresponsible behaviour because majority of people not only tolerate it but also, at least passively, support it. Although it's really distressing to see this kind of behaviour, I do feel we now see some winds of change. Maybe too early for a system overhaul but the next generation of leadership seems more responsible.

In this particular incident, after some more thoughts, I've come to conclusion that the irresponsible behaviour on BJP's part might've been a direct result of Advani trying to save his position in his party -- now it's upto his party and people to reward him or punish for using irresponsible tactics.

Mukesh bhai,

While I strongly condemn the tactics BJP, VHP have resorted to recently, I don't think we should codemn anyone because of who they are but rather we should support/or codemn a party based on what stand it takes on a particular issue. For example, in this case you and I should also be willing to condemn Congress if it had resorted to such bad behaviour. I like your spirit :-) but I think we should use restraint in using extreme reactions.

Sab dhongi haeen. Sare parties ek jaise haeen. Bjp could not built a temple in Ayodhya while it was in power. Advani goes to Pakistan and calls Jinnah secular and seems apologetic while all the time paki terrorists were busy planning another criminal act. Sonia's father was in germany army in second world war and fought for the nazis and was captured in soviet union - i read that somehwere, don't know if that is true or not. sonia was just taking english as a foreign language course when she met Rajiv Gandhi in england. She was not enrolled in any degree program and she was working as a dhobi, Rajiv never finished his engineering degree. And their Gandhi name is very misleading and seems to indicate they are somehow related to Mahtama Gandhi. That gets them vote from illiterates.
What kind of country we have? That a foreigner is ruling and pulling the strings of our pm - Manmohan Singh? Why can't we Indians get the servant mentality out of our minds?
then we have rich busineessmen turned politicians winning elections through money power pulling the strings - becoming powerbrokers. They go on public money along with their extended families and watch olympics from start to finish. Freeloaders. In olymics we have more officials then sports persons. The result we won 1 medal and when that guy comes back to india its like some big thing.!! The whole system is corrupt from top to bottom.
Thugs, small time crooks, goondas sit in our parliament and legislatures and If I am correct during the course of their tenure they cost the tax-payers about 32 crores each. That's for 1 member of parliament.
wasn't Om Prakash Chautala caught smuggling watches at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and his father got him out or what? Don't know fully. Then the Om Prakash becomes the chief minister every once in a while and then we have Om Prakash sons killing innocent villagers in haryana and thriving and active in politics. We also got the aaya raam gaya raam character - Bhajan Lal. Is this the best haryana voters can do? I mean I really want to say WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? Enough is enough.
We have excellent (SIC!) politicians like lalu yadavs and rabri devis. Husband goes to jail, wife takes his place and rules. Sab raaj karne waale ghar ke haeen.
Then we have opposition like Bjp with illiustrious politicians (SIC!) like Narendra Modis who completely ignores danga fasaads. While BJP was in power we had tehelka episodes - the same Bjp politicians claiming to be patriots selling themselves off.
We had bofors in Rajiv Gandhi's time which has never been resolved.
Let us accept it India does not have advanced weaponary like USA to confront its enemies and so all its politicians can do is tamashas and then after some dramas its back to meetings with the enemy - pakistan along with photo sessions. Do you think if Pakistan was messing with USA in the manner it has been playing India nothing would happen.? I think if it was so then there would not be a Pakistan. its because Pakistan knows India cannot do anything that is why it behaves the way it does. It seems like a never ending dramebaazi.
I wonder if besharmi is 1 of the main and essential qualities in order to become a politician. I think it has got to be number 1 requirement in order to be a politician. These people have no shame at all.

Dear Mr. Jitender

Regarding Uniform Civil Code. BJP was in power for 5 years, I wonder why did they not implement the uniform code?

Secondly, Mulayam Singh Yadav's soft corner for Muslims, is purely because of the votes that he needs to remain in power. The irony is that even Hindus voted for him. He can't come into power purely on muslim and yadav votes. The fact is when it comes to our personal advantage, be it allowing copying in exams (Mulayam announced it on his victory in elections after Kalyan Singh's first innings as CM) or be it waiving the electricity bills, or any little favor, we all support these politicians, least realizing the harm they are going to cause to the country and the society. The common man is some how obsessed with the daily situations and short term gains. That is because of the poverty. Politics is a complex issue and unless a common man is educated about the various social, economic and security issues, the rouge politicians will continue to win elections and rule the country.

I have never been a supporter of the Congress, but that does not mean I would support opposition parties even if they do the wrong thing. I personally feel that all these bundhs and religious cards played by any political party or religion should be condemned. We should not support the likes of Mr. Mulayam or Advani or for that matter any one else who want to divide the nation in the name of religion or castism. I am also against all kind of reservations except providing financial help to the needy students so that they can compete with their more fortunate competitors.

Dr. Manmohan Singh: an orderly??!!

Looks like there is a hidden camera or something in the house/office of Indian Prime Minister that is broadcasting the proceedings of the PM office/house live across the whole world. That seems to be the only plausible explanation for the expert comments from all of us (on this thread and others) regarding the way Dr. Singh is running his errands (read, leading the biggest democracy in the world).

Really we human beings have very short memories. How quickly we seem to have forgotten that this same Dr. Singh wrote the script of economic recovery from the brinks of bankruptcy for our country and paved the way for India becoming the fourth largest economy in the world (as suggested by the "purchasing power parity" figures). This very Dr. Singh was hailed by the world media as one of the great leaders of twentieth century not too long ago. And if the grapevine is to be believed, he was the first person whom Mr. Bajpai approached for taking the mantle of finance ministry after winning elections; despite the fact that he belonged to his rival party - the congress. This person is without doubt the cleanest and most honest politician that we have got in India right now and better still, his academic credentials are probably the strongest of all of them out there claiming to be the torch bearers of Indian "rajneeti".

Let's give the person the credit for running the show while guarding the matrimony of a plethora of parties that have innately different ideologies. No doubt that there has been extensive support from the so called "remote control" but to my mind that has been more for maintaining this matrimonial alliance and managing the "political" aspects of the UPA Govt. rather than telling Dr. Singh which files to sign and what policies to pursue. And that's probably fair too as Dr. Singh is novice in the game that has "maharathis" like Lalu Yadav, Harkishen Singh Surjeet, Ram Vilas Paswan et al in his own camp, not to mention "teerandaz" like Advani, Swaraj, Jaitley etc. training their guns on the slightest slip of the UPA Govt.

And frankly, who would you rather have at the helm of the affairs- an honest person who sincerely wishes to take India to the podium of leadership in the twentieth-century-world or a slick politician who has her/his own axe to grind when she/he comes to power?

P.S.: My aplogies for digressing from the main topic of this thread, but I felt that someone needed to draw the attention towards almost insulting remarks for one of the most selfless and respectable persons in Indian politics today.

Dear Sir, What you have written in your post is completly right. I fully agree with you on this point.
It is the matter of pride that we have a world's most educated and honest prime minister in current time who has a vision to bring our country on the top position in world countries chart.
