Here is another example of random censorship.

This is in the "Indira Gandhi" thread started by Seema

http://www.jatland.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21789&page=2

The censored word was "penis" by Mr Sitaram Jakhar. Why is penis a banned word? Mr. Jakhar did not tell me an alternate word to describe the male genitalia. Would "ling" be OK? as in ShivLing - makes it less dirty because it is sanctioned by God.

Please read post # 17 to get the context. Some members even got a laugh out of it.

I agree that we should be careful with the choice of words here.

I am a fan of free and creative use of language myself, and use
so called vulgar and inappropriate language with abandon.
But I think where and when we choose to excercise such "freedom" needs
to be considered.

It is better to err on the side of caution as much as possible in a public
forum. And that means refraining from langauge that is generally considered
inappropriate.

I am with the moderators on this. Of course, I have found many posts that
passed by their scanners and was surprised that no-one raised a big fuss.
I think reference to those two sensitive round things that hold
the key to many future generations of Jatlanders, should also be done with
caution. Sid!!! I read that post man. Not good yaar.

That is open-ended. If you read my very first post on this thread, you will know what I am referring to.
That is why I asked for a list.

We can agree to disagree.:)

Basically you'd like Jatland to publish a list of all the words that are
considered inappropriate. I guess we should post these right on the front page so that everyone knows not to use them. :p :D

Hmmm...since the ladies are more sensitive, we can perhaps ask the lady
mods (Bharti, Manisha, Anu,...forgot who else) to come up with the list.
Ladies, can you please do that right away? Just come up with a list
of all the bad words you can think of...and we can then get started on
having a discussion on each of those words...:p:eek:...And while
you are at it make sure you've captured words from the different languages
as well....never can be too safe...can we now...:D

:cool::cool:

Come on fellas...give a bit...take a bit...Har issue ko ke discussion banana
ke itna jarorri sae. Mods ne thora bahot saans len diya karo...Let them
use some discretion without having to justify everything everytime.

Have the lady mods got started on it yet? :D

Perhaps we can start with "A" sounding words? How about "Ande"?
Is that an appropriate word?

Like:
"Mommy-2 aaj mujhe breakfast ke liye ande khaane hain".

How about the hindi version of Sid's favorite reference to those round
vessels:
"Arre saale, tere andon mein itna damn hai toh saamne aa!" :D

Or how about a feminine version on this:
"Aae bhai-royee...tere sade hor aande tae isse-eh utt jaamengey".

Oh man...come to think of it...enumerating all the fascinating
possibilities of all the words we can think of might be quite a task. Perhaps
if the mods sit down to it there won't be much time left for moderating.
Ha ha ha ha :D:p

Man, I did not realize there was a whole battalion of Ladies Police - shabaash!!

to come up with the list.

Having a discussion on that would definitely be a lot of fun.
I do agree with you that coming up with a list is far-fetched idea for our battalion of sensitive ladies.
Bhai, nyu bata itni sensitive thi to pher 10,000 jat aur jatniyon ki moderation karne tahi kyon taang thai thi??

Saans len ki ke baat - meri taraf te kati so jao saud odh ke - sabhka bhala hoga.

Let them use some discretion without having to justify everything everytime.

LOL!

Did not know you knew my favorites so well.
Don't remember using ande, balls, or any other reference to describe the family jewels.
Ande is pretty lame BTW.

Since this is a private site, whatever the owner of the site wants is fine with me. But at this time I don't know what he/she wants - seems a little shy.
In any case I will drop it now.

Well said !! ek dum sehi !

Deshwal ji, Dikhe hai iss thread pe reply karte karte Raj rathee bhai ke bhi hukhuki mari ..... par whatever he has written in this hard or sarcastic way is right when we go for the meaning, itne din te angreji mein jalle saaf karein they log polished way mein aaj hindi/haryanvi mein hoge ;). This would happen in some time here if this so called FREEDOM OF SPEECH mukhota will prevail.

Rathee have also addressed the list thing right.

Indeed Narwal ji have written the gem of reply to this thread sab kuch NIHIT hai usme.

100% agreed!

So moral of the thread...Use Holy english F word here & there, wherever you want! :p

perhaps one of the most intresting and colorful words in English Language today is the word "F***" Falls into many grammatical categories. it can be used as verb, both transitive and intransitive passive verb; or an adverb; and as a noun. It can be used as adjective. As you can see, there are very few words with the versatitlity of "F***"!!!

Sam.

शत पर्तिशत सहमति...This hindi & Harryanvi shud be banned rightaway...Both of these are indecent, archaic and crude langauges.... It is only english-probabaly the language where people can think positively & in a gentleman way...we shud use these profanities ONLY in english because this English refines them & makes them holier to express ingenuity, contemporary trends with a modern prospective outlook....

Long live queen for all the civilization she has bestowed on us by English..!!!!!

Ha ha ha ha :D:p

I was going through this thread and enjoying it till i reached your post. I am not able to stop my self laughing to glory. Discussion on each So called objectional word...... That would be great. Ha Ha Ha ha.

Trust me this whole thread is going in the direction in which the Sid would have never imagined. As Sid has already given solution to the problem in his opening statement only. The outlook of each member towards use of words to express thoughts is different and same goes with moderators as well. They will moderate according to their outlook and may not be taking care of my, raj's or sid's so called "Cosmo" approach. I would recommend we should have rotation policy for moderators,(If it is not in place already) so that we achieve a balance of approach in censoring the posts.

Trust me the moderators are doing fine job under the circumstances. Give them some FREEDOM to censor.

Dhillon sahib How can i forget to mention your Hindi and haryanvi twist to all this. That was some research buddy.......
