रोग निदान प्रयोगशाला में रक्त की एक बूंद से रोग का पता चल जाता है। गृहिणी चावल का एक दाना देखकर पुलाव का पकना जान जाती है। लोग लिफाफा देखकर मजमून भांप लेते हैं। निदान विशेषज्ञ नाड़ी पकड़कर रोग की जड़ तक पकड़ लेते हैं। आदमी को एक नजर देखकर उसकी आत्मा का हाल जान लेते हैं। ठीक इसी तरह 'चक दे इंडिया' फिल्म देखकर भारत को समझा जा सकता है। हमारे सारे गुण और दोष इस फिल्म में मौजूद हैं। इसे समाजशास्त्र की पाठ्यपुस्तक मान लेना चाहिए और हर भारतीय के लिए इसे देखना अनिवार्य किया जाना चाहिए।

निर्देशक शमित अमीन, निर्माता आदित्य चोपड़ा और शाहरुख को नमन किया जाना चाहिए। सितारा शाहरुख इसमें अभिनेता के रूप में शिखर पर पहुंच गया है। हर भाव-भंगिमा सधी हुई है, एक्सप्रेशन में कमाल की किफायत है। बिना किसी नारेबाजी के देशभक्ति का भाव जगाने वाली इस फिल्म का प्रदर्शन अगस्त माह में होना भी शुभ ही है। फिल्म के प्रारंभ में सोलह लड़कियां आड़ी-तेड़ी और असुंदर नजर आती हैं, परंतु फ्रेम-दर-फ्रेम वे सुंदर लगने लगती हैं और क्लाइमैक्स में तो उनसे इश्क करने का जी चाहता है।

जब फाइनल के निर्णायक क्षण में एक लड़की गोल मारने की स्थिति में होते हुए भी अपनी निकटतम प्रतिद्वंद्वी को पास देती है तो दर्शकों की आंखें छलछला जाती हैं। टीम भावना और एकजुटता को रेखांकित करने वाला यह महान क्षण है। आज के दौर की तमाम सामाजिक व्याधियों का चित्रण इतनी सहजता से किया गया है कि मुंह से बरबस निकलता है-चक दे इंडिया। मीडिया द्वारा खुली अदालत में तमाशे की तरह चलाया गया मुकदमा और प्रमाणहीन फैसले पर यह फिल्म करारी चोट पहुंचाती है। प्रांतीयता के जहर का भी सटीक चित्रण है। हॉकी की उपेक्षा के दृश्य भी दिल हिला देते हैं। आज के दौर में स्पांसर का मुर्गा बांग न दे तो शायद सूरज भी नहीं निकले। महिलाओं के प्रति भेदभाव भी खूब उभरकर प्रभावोत्पादक ढंग से सामने आता है। सारे दोषों के बावजूद भारत की आंतरिक ऊर्जा भी फिल्म को प्राणवान बनाती है। छोटी भूमिकाओं में प्रस्तुत कलाकारों ने भी स्वाभाविकता दिखाई है। अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर के मैच उनकी गरिमा के अनुसार ही विश्वसनीयता से प्रस्तुत किए गए हैं। तकनीकी गुणवत्ता भी उच्च स्तर की है।

आप अपने सबसे खराब मूड में फिल्म देखने पहुंचिए और यह फिल्म आपके सारे नैराश्य को धोकर रख देती है। आप सिनेमाघर से बाहर निकलते हैं तो आपके पैर बादलों पर पड़ते हैं और उड़ने का अहसास होता है। यह निर्मल आनंद प्रदान करने वाली फिल्म है। गीत-संगीत कथा-प्रवाह का हिस्सा हैं और रसानुभूति में किसी तरह का खलल नहीं डालते। प्रेम कथाओं की मधुमेही चाशनी से साफ बची हुई यह फिल्म स्वस्थ मनोरंजन प्रदान करती है।

A Bollywood flick? Of course not….Chak De India defies all logic or commercial formula that has been prevailed in filmdom from past six decades. To count, it doesn’t have a pair lead, no mushy-mushy dialogues (A must in Shahrukh movies), hero not running after heroine around trees, no item number from some hottie, no space for villain in the script since who can play villain better than the circumstances. Whew! Then what this movie is all about?

This movie is about the womanhood celebration, undying spirit of a true sportsman whose heart beats for his country. From the very first scene, story and characters create its own ambience which lasts till the last reel of the movie. One can feel the intuition that you are not going to watch a typical bollywood massala movie; but a story which is going to break several myths.

A story that needs to be told at any cost, even if Yashraj Banner has to compromise on their tested formula of romantic weepies and must say; the compromise was worth for!

Story begins with a the ordeal of Kabir Khan (Shahrukh Khan), the captain of men’s Indian national hockey team who missed a penalty corner in the deciding moments of the final match with arch rival Pakistan and gets labeled as a traitor by the hostile fans and unfair media. Here, Kabir Khan just didn’t lose the match but his respect too to be called an honest citizen of India. Being a muslim made the curse worse.

Lost in isolation for next seven years; Kabir Khan comes back with a mission: to gain back the lost glory and self-respect with the same game which took everything a man could have! He joins as the coach of the women’s national hockey team that consists of sixteen girls from different background, with difficult soaring attitude and sky-high egos. Now, coach has to build a team which can win the world championship of hockey scheduled after three months in Australia. Easier said than done? Naah! All the girls learn their lessons hard way and follow the funda that a team game can’t be won just with individualistic brilliance.

Lacking team spirit finds its way through a fight at public place that erupts in the form of girls versus boys. Here, they bury the hatchet and entire team binds as ONE first time. Beating the boys to blue, girls come to know the importance of togetherness. This fight scene at MacDonald is shot beautifully with close-ups, tables turned upside down, while the coach and staff enjoy calmly. Story shows all the internal team-politics, ego-clashes, and all sorts of conflicts a team can have in any game. Kabir Khan knows what it takes to get there. And what it means to return empty handed. This time, he wants to make sure that it"s different. He knows there are no second chances. Ultimately, for a coach, it comes just not to deal with different people but dealing with difficult egos. As the coach tells his team, “Is team kaa sabse bada gunda main hoon.”

The racy script with witty punch lines makes the ride joyful throughout the movie. One can sense the sincere effort put by the writer (Jaideep Sahni did a brilliant job) while writing a hindi film story without using any clichéd heavy-duty dialogues, Switzerland in background, eye-candy glamour and ‘Romance’, a territory owned by Yashraj banner. The best thing about the script is that it doesn’t wander from the main theme ‘sports’ even for a single moment. Audience feels like clapping for every single goal scored on the screen.

Now, come to the performances. Shahrukh is the mainstay of the entire plot and comes up with a performance that will shut up the critics who says that he is just good at romance with his silly mannerisms. After ‘Swadesh’, here is another movie where he is not playing the ‘Star Shahrukh Khan’ but ‘Actor Shahrukh Khan’. His body language combined with apt dialogue delivery makes audience see a different Shahrukh whom we hardly know. From commercial point of view, he is the main crowd puller for the movie and won’t disappoint them for
sure.

His chemistry with the girls, especially with Vidya Malvade, the captain of the hockey team, is really admirable. Few other girls too shine with their natural performances. Sagarika Ghatge as Preeti Sabharwal, lass from Chandigarh, is determined to teach her cricket-star boyfriend the true meaning of sportsmanship. She is a revelation in the movie, the scene stealer among the girls. It won’t be surprised if audience gets to see her in more movies.

The music is composed by the Merchant brothers Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant. Lyrics are written by Jaideep Sahni, who also wrote the screenplay and co-wrote the story with Shimit Amin. Title song rocks with its catchy lyrics and pacy music. It has become a sort of anthem for sports since one can hear it being played in the background on Star TV India-England Cricket matches these days. Other songs are also good reflecting the sporty look through the lyrics. Though the story line goes on the expected line, but it is the screenplay and hard-hitting performance by Shahrukh that makes it more interesting. Shimit Amin has scored once again with another hit in kitty with ‘Chak De India’ and Yashraj will smile again to the box office collections.

It’s good that nowadays sports are shown as the main theme effectively in the movies such as Lagaan, Tararumpum, Apne, and now Chak De India!

Good show, bollywood.

anyway will watch the movie for sure... but i never read such a review.. sounds like navjoot singh sidhu dictated him.

Hahaha...actually, with due respect to the writer of Dainik Bhaskar, he has gone over the top with the appreciation...at times wandering on the flattering side...A balanced review (of book or a movie) should never overplay itself in terms of praise and criticism which this review at Dainik Baskar tends to do with certain overdose.........:D

Chak erinnert De Indien uns von Nationalismus durch die Zeit, den es in den dunklen Filmenhallen zeigt. Aber jeder Indianer, der die Filmehallenrückkehren zu ihrem täglichen Leben verlässt, als Malayalee, Bihari oder Punjabi. Das Publikum, das aus Männern besteht, und Frauen würden noch die Frauen sehen, die ihre Begrenzungen in einem falschen Weg brechen. Das einzige Ding ist, dass es hilft, uns zu machen, denken an Indien wenigstens für drei Stunden während des 60. Indianischen Unabhängigkeitstags...

Chak De India reminds us of nationalism throughout the time that it shows in the dark movie halls. But every Indian who leaves the movie hall returns to their daily life as Jats, Malayalee, Bihari or Punjabi. The audience that consists of men and women would still see the women who break their limitations in a wrong way. The only thing is that it helps to make us think about India at least for three hours during the 60th Indian Independence Day...
 
A decent package!

yeah, saw the movie. It was nice . I would give 7/10.

Good thing was multiple messsages movie conveyed:
1. Sports: its not only cricket, especially in country like India where sports=cricket..:rolleyes:
2. Women: I'm glad it was about women hockey, cud have been just men hockey, so liked the idea very much.
3. Patriotism: indeed patriotic.
4. Last but not the least and needless to mention: SRK at his best, as always.

So, not a bad idea to catch the movie, plus there are episodes of excitement and "adrenaline rush" during those tricky hockey matches...:)

And yeah, thankfully not much of typical bollywood melodrama/masala...:D

1. In India Sports= Cricket is right, maybe you never got the memo!...;):D

2. Haven't watched the particular movie yet; but still everyone knows that women and hockey is not really a problem at all- they can wield a 'belan' and/or a hockey with aplomb anytime!
[Plus imagine if it was Men's hockey.....the poor 'non-sporty' 5-foot-nothing Shah Rukh Khan would have been jostling for space to be seen in the melee!!! :D]

Waise Movie mein Cricket ki sahi utaari hai :p remember one scene in which SRK says to a boy......hamari Hockey mein Chakke(sixers) nahi hote :p;)

We need to pay more attention to real sports like Hockey, Soccer, Athletics, Swimming, Rugby etc.

Yeah true. Totally agreed. Wonder why its called a sport? Except a couple of players there is literally no movement. Umpire is the biggest idiot and so are the people who get glued to TV for 5 days and wait for a draw. Wish we had Hitler who could have banned this game.
Talking about Chak de India. Movie was worth watching as you all have said. Seriously I dont think that this is going to help Hockey by any means. Movies like this come and go. Soon you will see SRK playing cricket in a charity match.Moreover, no chance for any other game as long as Sachin doesnt retire.

मेरा बेटा विशवेन्द्र "चक दे इन्डिया" देख कर आया ओर उसने जिद की कि मैं भी फ़िल्म देखने जाऊं ओर उसके बालक हठ के आगे झुकते हुए मुझे भी कईं सालों के बाद थियेटर में फ़िल्म देखने का मौका मिला…।
"चक दे इन्डिया" फ़िल्म, मीर राजन नेगी पर आधारित है। लेकिन हाकी के बादशाह ध्यानचंद को कहीं भी याद नही किया गया ? ध्यानचंद इन्डियन हाकी टीम के सरताज रहे हैं…..उनके दौर में इन्डिया ने शायद तीन वर्ड कप भी जीते हैं ओर ऐसा कहा जाता है कि विरोधी टीमें मैच में उनकी हाकी कई बार चेंज करवाया करती थीं……ये कह कर की इनकी हाकी मे कोई जादू है…..?
कोमल चौटाला …..हरियाणे से……..(नाम की कोमल…लेकिन जितनी जमीन के ऊपर उतनी ही जमीन के निचे) ए लोन्डी तनै भैंस की पुंछ से बान्ध दुन्गी…..ओर…… अब भैंस की पुंछ पाडने से क्या फ़ायदा……जब कोमल चौटाला आप्णा लाडुओं से भरा डब्बा बैड पर रख कर आप्णा कब्जा दर्शाती है ओर एक उदाहरण द्वारा कहती है...बेरा सै… म्हारे हरियाणा रोड्वेज बस में कोई आपणा सामान रख दे तो वो सीट उसकी हो जाती है। एक खिलाडी को कहती है.....ए लोन्डिया ….माफ़ करना है या थाने मे जाना है……? क्योंकि म्हारे हरियाणा में फ़ैसलें फ़ेर थाने में ही होवें सैं…..?

जब एक सीनियर खिलाडी कप्तान नही बन पाती है तो उसका टीम इन्डिया में विशवास नही रहता….लेकिन कपतानी पाने के लिये वो कोच को इशारों मे कहती है कि गोलकीपर विद्या शर्मा में ऐसा क्या है जो मुझमें नही है……? ओर फ़िर वो कैसे ड्रैस-लैस होने को तैयार हो जाती है……..ये सीन शोहरत, कपतान, सिस्टम, पद, कोच ओर राजनीतिक खेल पर जोरदार तमाचा है……? (सबको शक के घेरे में डालता है)

प्रीति सब्रवाल……..चडींगढ से……इडिंयन क्रिकेट के उपकप्तान से शादी रचाकर एक क्रिकेटर की बीवी कहलवाने से अच्छा इन्डियन हाकी टीम की एक सद्स्य होने को कहीं ज्यादा गौरव की बात मानती है..ओर अंत मे वही हौंसला “प्रीति” को जीत का सेहरा ओर क्रिकेट उपकप्तान के सेहरे को ठुकराने का साहस भी देता है…?

औरत को सिर्फ़ चूल्हे-चौके, ओर बच्चे पैदा करने या घर तक ही सीमित ना रखा जाये या समझा जाये………? मौका मिले तो वो भी अपनी काबलियत जता सकती है ।

कहने को तो ये एक फ़िल्म है..लेकिन इसको समझे ओर अमल करें…. तो बहुत कुछ है…?

हम किसी एक प्रदेश से पहले इन्डियन हैं…..दिल को छू गया…..काफ़ी ट्च्ची लगा…?

टीम बनाने के लिये ताकत नही नियत चाहिये ।

मूलमन्त्र …….. मिलकर कुछ भी हासिल किया जा सकता है ।

मेरा बेटा तो इतना प्रभावित हुआ कि घर आते ही उसने हाकी की फ़रमाईस भी रख दी ।

वाह !! मेरे लाल….चक दे इन्डिया !!!!!

Aare memo mila tha phaer padhh kae bhaja kyun diya!?! (dekhoji 'folly-phally' ka to eisa hai kae kimme ismae seal-saal lagaane ki zaroorat to sai konya.....baki aagle match kae phele desh ka haal dekh liyo 'authenticity' tayieen!!! ;) Sab bera paat jaga 'phalt' kidhar hai!)...

Aer rahee baat hum saare cricket fans ki; to bhaiyee thaare kisi nae brake laa re sein? Tham log bhi baaki sports nae chada lo jitte chayeh chane-ki-jhaad pae.....ebbae to ude es 'jhaad' pae jagah konya! LOL!!! :D:D:D
 
Jokes apart (and being a 'sports' fan, period) I appreciate the inclusion of a sport dominated movie (movies that are such a big media effect in our country) finally, to spur the imagination of a Nation.....

But having said that the fact of the matter still is that for a sport (field Hockey) that owes all it's best to it's origins in India... is now completely beyond the reaches of the Indian subcontinent!!!... We cannot be even termed as the Asian giants anymore, where losing or winning a game against Pakistan is sadly all that matters.

The sad part also really has been how much the rules and style of playing the sport has changed (and how the European nations have completely taken it away) and we have not been able to keep up and stay in touch with the same level of incision and breakneck speed that Hockey is now...

Gone are the days when one could quote about the legendary and magicial 'dribblers' like Dhyan-Chand when the sport itself is not much about dribbling anymore but fast passing and pin point accuracy and penalty conversion is the norm of the day now.... it is not anymore a one man show, with a few stars to carry the game but more of the need of a total star team now that somehow has not seeped into our Nations mentality yet!

I hope we can bring ourselves back to the glory days and sports becomes an important identity in a Nation that lacks an exposure to pursuing such ideals!
