What a waste..of..anyway...fogettt it..

At least better than writing 'i concur with you' on almost every third post of every second thread  ... makes some sense ? :)

I am in sync ( see i devised a more fancy word ;) ) with you on this ! :)

Most of the times , we discuss such subjective things that the same person can twist the words to make you agree with two total contradictory aspects ! :)
I have deliberately done that at times as an experiment.

So for people who find it hard to express themselves at length , "I concur" is a good way to really tell what they think of the topic!

Dont see condtradictions on why one cant use the word :)

Tewatia Bhai,,,,in my oppinion English language is way far behind Hindi and Sanskrit in terms of grammer. There are certain palces where we Indians are left with no choices. When we want to give respect to our seniors we have to use some words which if translated in Hindi would mean sort of disrespect. Please through some light on it. I think we should modify english as per our needs. Ham Hindi mein bade araam se apne se bade ko kah sakte hain ki "aap Kahaan Jaa rahei ho",,,,,lekin isko english mein likhana ho to badi hi duvidha ho jaati hai.

wch meaning u are talking of ? no.1 or no.2 ?

Sachin bhai....... Respect deney k liye Kripya "They" ka use karein... "He" ka nahi......... :rock :rock :rock

Thanks a lot Bro

You will understand my plight that why I am saying this.

For Eg. if some one ask his teacher in Hindi "Guru Ji aap Kahaan Jaa Rahei Ho",,,,,,ab isko English mein dekhiye,,,,"Sir, where are You going",,,,,,so this word "You" take out the complete respect which we Indians are fond of.

As per your suggestion if i put the word recommended by you,,,it will look like,,,,,"Sir, Where are They going",,,,,,,,just see how polite and respectful it looks.

So we should not follow English language blindly, rather mould it as per our tradition and values:rock

1. anil, sync can serve as a good synonym, but i failed to understand on what are you in sync with the quoted post ... i couldn't draw any meaning frm the post tht u've quoted, since it did'nt specify meaning no.1 or no.2  ... a cryptanalysis failure? or what? :D

Most of the times , we discuss such subjective things that the same person can twist the words to make you agree with two total contradictory aspects ! :) I have deliberately done that at times as an experiment.

2. i can see the influence of mr. sumit dalal :D

So for people who find it hard to express themselves at length , "I concur" is a good way to really tell what they think of the topic!

3. agreed... in wch meaning ? no.1 or no.2 ? have a grasp on the title post... u are going off-topic. :):(

Humm, interesting thread Bhai Brahm ! :)

Never knew a word regularly used by me we'll make sucha big impact (whole thread is dedicated to the very word) on JL's members that too on someone like u, who is master in creative English writing ! ;)

As far I know Concur means - Be in accord; be in*agreement. It is also a synonym of word Agree.

Well, you know Brahm, English is sucha funny language ;) every second word keeps double n different meaning as well as its not that rich like Hindi, German n Sanskrit vocab.

for example Second means endorse bhi hota hai aur doosra bhi, like that Gay means happy bhi hota hai aur homo bhi ... so its actually quite confusing as well .. :p

So bhai jyada load mat leve n take it easy, I hope here u concur with me word by word !

Dont know what you are talking about! I dont even think this type of basic stuff deserves an explanation (ofcourse except when you are a beginner with the Eng language..No kidding I mean it) but since you asked..

In English, words often have multiple meanings depending on the context in which they are used. So, people (like you did) may have comprehension difficulties when coming across such words.
For instance, word 'break' could mean 'to smash' or 'a rest'; word 'chest' could mean 'a box with a lid' or 'the body part' etc etc...

Having said that, lesson is: learn to infer the intended meaning of a word based on context.

Really...........its surprising bhai,,,,,I never observed it.

One thing you have rightly said that Sanskrit, german labguages are very strong grammitally. I think we should put some effort in making English also flawless, I will keep giving my ideas in this joint effort. Infact we have already started doing it

Peace out people ! :)

Poonam kind of summed it up for me , we need to be contextual while comprehending word's meaning.

But that's not a trivial thing , not only for the not so "English-learned" folks but also for the pretty well versed ones.

Many a times I have seen on this portal , people conveying not what they want to convey but what they want a "Select" few to get! :) that should be discouraged irrespective.

Guess Markov-ish-ness is on work , where even when people see plain english , they kind of tend of perceive what they want to rahter that what should ! :)

Tension naa le bhai,,,,lakoh ke raakh aapni intention ne:D main to Cerelac khaaya nahi karta,,,,,tu liya mol ar khaa liye,,,gripe water ka main sahaara laa dyungaa ,,,,,samajh gyaa ne,,,,,,gripe water:D saste rate pe le ke de dyunga bhai ne,,,,,aajkal mahangai bhi ghani ho rhi se

Having said that, lesson is: learn to infer the intended meaning of a word based on context.

m afraid you too failed to comprehend the meaning of the thread. the thread n'vr called for the explanation on the nuances of english language, as elucidated by you. at the same time, the thread, whilst talking abt the various meaning of the the word "concur", was more importantly dwelling on the tendencies of the ppl (<<< hav a grip here) tht has been observed at JL. the meaning of the word "concur" very obviously nd most predominantly is referred in the 1st context of meaning. however, more often than not, it has been observed tht 2nd meaning is more in prevalence. i can bet bottom $'s tht more than 95% of the folks here (me included) n'vr knew the meaning of this word in 2nd and/or in 3rd sense.

i attribute this tendency in some exceptional cases (... like yours) to the fact tht folks dont go thru the thread nd try to give their response on basis of a single post tht catches their attention… m also thinking to conclude, tht this tendency as explained abv, and shown by you in yr posts on this thread can be attributed to this behaviour tht call members to react in the 2nd meaning of the word… well !!! justified !!! i wud say, in such a scenario. having said so, pls have a grasp on the following post by vijay... m sure you haven't gone thru it, nd for which i'm also confident, u'll understand what i mean to say.

would appreciate to hear frm you after u've gone thru the abv post.

my explanation failure ??? [/QUOTE]

Precisely! There you go!

I read 'your' post and responded accordingly, may be failing to comprehend the hidden inference....perhaps because of the reason you confessed.

I dont wanna comment at length here, dont find it interesting enough at the first place (rather appalling as stuff like this generally has a vicious end) ..and kinda dont have the knack of being judgemental.

Thanks for the efforts though.

Over and out!
