jagmohan said:Dear Sumit,
I am not convinced because you make the same points again.
Even you have madethe same points again and again. My argument remains the same, no matter what. And that is "government has no business in an individual's life."
jagmohan said:I hope you know that in India Military Service is voluntary. As you have chosen to do what you want to do, similarly thousands of JATS chose to serve in the military. Any problem with that? Or your Utopian system wouldn’t allow people to do what they want? What do you mean more productive? It would become impossible to debate with you if you can’t even understand that military does contribute in many ways towards nation building. Research and also think how.
My problem is not the "voluntary part" about military. My problem is that military is used by the govrnment to control people, whether under its own jurisdiction or another government's jurisdiction. Please go thorugh the several examples I cited for military's use of brutal force against civilians on orders by the government.
In the so called "utopian state" (thanks for naming that for me
jagmohan said:And if your idea of being productive is working for a private enterprise, I am already laughing. Seriously, do you really feel that one can be totally free by working in a private enterprise? Everyone is not as intelligent as you are to study or work in a foreign land. My experience of nearly five years in a private enterprise tells me otherwise. The more one is educated and accomplished, the more he helps the company to defraud customers and the “Govt”.
The goal of a private enterprise is to earn positive reveues. Thus, those employed by aprivate enterprise are expected to contribute positively. If a private enterprise fails, the burden lies on a private investor and not on te entire society, that had nothing to do with it.
On the other hand Government enterprises run on tax money. Except for one or two government enterprises in India, all operate at a loss. The one or two that we might think of manage to churn positive revenues because of the monopoly bestowed upon them by the government. Example is ONGC.When government enterprises run in losses, they are covered by the entire society, even by those who had nothing to do with them
jagmohan said:The Natural Law declared by NATURE is Survival of the Fittest. You admit there will be crime. Everyone will have ‘Private Security’? Like Osama Laden and the drug cartels? Aap sach mein mahaan ho. Private security. Tell me frankly Sumit. Tu time pass kar rya hai na?
Talking of Osama, everyone knows who creted the monster. Even today most of the equipment he uses came from the CIA back in the 80s.
Ever heard of General Noriega, the deposed President of Panama. He was running the drug trade in the Americas and was installed by the US government itself, which later took him out.
The most powerful anti-social elements were created by some government or the other.
As for Private Security, even the US government uses it in Iraq. It proves t superiority over its own forces.
Also, do not forget that most private enterprises prefer private security over police, even though they are entitled to Police's services as tax payers.
As for time pass, every one knows who is doing it. It is evident from who logs in more hours on Jatland.com
jagmohan said:And how will you hold those criminals accountable? The natural law of yours would be written down by intelligent people I suppose. It would have some punishment earmarked for each crime. Who will decide whether the punishment awarded is severe or lenient? Oh, I forgot. You will obviously be holding an important position in that state and would be a decision maker. my be you would choose/appoint a group of people to decide? Something like a 'Panchayat'?
And who will ‘Guard your Guards’?
The natural law is not written. It is implied. It is basically nothing more than "respect for the individual." Everyone minds their own business.
Public courts are already a failure. In India alone there is a backlog of several decades of court cases. People have died in their prison cells awaiting justice.
How about "paid private courts." The loosing side pays all expenses. It is already in function. Most business employ the services of private intermdediaries, rather than go through tedious public courts.
I will nowhere to be seen once socialism is wiped out totally from the face of the earth. Why would I become something that I detest the most? And by that I mean "government."
jagmohan said:There will be something that would always influence our lives, if not the Govt then it would be your ‘Utopian Management’.
To take this further please let us know the following about your Utopian State:
1. Constitution.
2. Rights & Duties.
3. Vision, Mission & what have you.
4. Criminal Justice System.
5. System of Governance.
6. Public Grievance Mgt.
7. Something on Health & Education.
8. Religion.
Regards,
JS Malik
The The first five have been covered in my arguments above.
Broadly speaking, in the absence of a government we wont need elected officials or constitutions. Criminal Justice and Public Grievances could be handled by private security and private courts.Health and education could be covered by insurance companies and education funds where in people invest to save money for their children's educating. People already do that here in the US to save for their children's college. They had rather prefer their children to go to private school than go to public schools.
Religion is covered by the law of natural rights. Practice it the way you want as long as others "natural rights" are not violated.

Somalia is the only statelss society in the world. Things have improved a lot since the government fell a decade ago.
Somalia is doing better than its neighbors Kenya and Ethiopia which have a govt. and are also supported by numerous world organizations.
Somalia has one of the strongest currencies in Africa. It has the best telecommunication network in Africa. Many businesses are operating through somalia because of absence of Govt.
It could get better, if the international prsssure to have a govt. in Somalia subsides. For more info, please read : http://www.mises.org/story/2066
