Dear Sumit,

I am not convinced because you make the same points again.

Even you have madethe same points again and again. My argument remains the same, no matter what. And that is "government has no business in an individual's life."

jagmohan said:
I hope you know that in India Military Service is voluntary. As you have chosen to do what you want to do, similarly thousands of JATS chose to serve in the military. Any problem with that? Or your Utopian system wouldn’t allow people to do what they want? What do you mean more productive? It would become impossible to debate with you if you can’t even understand that military does contribute in many ways towards nation building. Research and also think how.

My problem is not the "voluntary part" about military. My problem is that military is used by the govrnment to control people, whether under its own jurisdiction or another government's jurisdiction. Please go thorugh the several examples I cited for military's use of brutal force against civilians on orders by the government.

In the so called "utopian state" (thanks for naming that for me :) ) there wont be a state. I beleive in a border free world void of any govrnment, where individuals trade and converse freely with each other wihout any fear of the "big brother" watching over them.

jagmohan said:
And if your idea of being productive is working for a private enterprise, I am already laughing. Seriously, do you really feel that one can be totally free by working in a private enterprise? Everyone is not as intelligent as you are to study or work in a foreign land. My experience of nearly five years in a private enterprise tells me otherwise. The more one is educated and accomplished, the more he helps the company to defraud customers and the “Govt”.

The goal of a private enterprise is to earn positive reveues. Thus, those employed by aprivate enterprise are expected to contribute positively. If a private enterprise fails, the burden lies on a private investor and not on te entire society, that had nothing to do with it.

On the other hand Government enterprises run on tax money. Except for one or two government enterprises in India, all operate at a loss. The one or two that we might think of manage to churn positive revenues because of the monopoly bestowed upon them by the government. Example is ONGC.When government enterprises run in losses, they are covered by the entire society, even by those who had nothing to do with them

jagmohan said:
The Natural Law declared by NATURE is Survival of the Fittest. You admit there will be crime. Everyone will have ‘Private Security’? Like Osama Laden and the drug cartels? Aap sach mein mahaan ho. Private security. Tell me frankly Sumit. Tu time pass kar rya hai na?

Talking of Osama, everyone knows who creted the monster. Even today most of the equipment he uses came from the CIA back in the 80s.

Ever heard of General Noriega, the deposed President of Panama. He was running the drug trade in the Americas and was installed by the US government itself, which later took him out.

The most powerful anti-social elements were created by some government or the other.

As for Private Security, even the US government uses it in Iraq. It proves t superiority over its own forces.

Also, do not forget that most private enterprises prefer private security over police, even though they are entitled to Police's services as tax payers.

As for time pass, every one knows who is doing it. It is evident from who logs in more hours on Jatland.com :D

jagmohan said:
And how will you hold those criminals accountable? The natural law of yours would be written down by intelligent people I suppose. It would have some punishment earmarked for each crime. Who will decide whether the punishment awarded is severe or lenient? Oh, I forgot. You will obviously be holding an important position in that state and would be a decision maker. my be you would choose/appoint a group of people to decide? Something like a 'Panchayat'?

And who will ‘Guard your Guards’?

The natural law is not written. It is implied. It is basically nothing more than "respect for the individual." Everyone minds their own business.

Public courts are already a failure. In India alone there is a backlog of several decades of court cases. People have died in their prison cells awaiting justice.

How about "paid private courts." The loosing side pays all expenses. It is already in function. Most business employ the services of private intermdediaries, rather than go through tedious public courts.

I will nowhere to be seen once socialism is wiped out totally from the face of the earth. Why would I become something that I detest the most? And by that I mean "government."

jagmohan said:
There will be something that would always influence our lives, if not the Govt then it would be your ‘Utopian Management’.

To take this further please let us know the following about your Utopian State:

1. Constitution.
2. Rights & Duties.
3. Vision, Mission & what have you.
4. Criminal Justice System.
5. System of Governance.
6. Public Grievance Mgt.
7. Something on Health & Education.
8. Religion.

Regards,

JS Malik

The The first five have been covered in my arguments above.

Broadly speaking, in the absence of a government we wont need elected officials or constitutions. Criminal Justice and Public Grievances could be handled by private security and private courts.Health and education could be covered by insurance companies and education funds where in people invest to save money for their children's educating. People already do that here in the US to save for their children's college. They had rather prefer their children to go to private school than go to public schools.

Religion is covered by the law of natural rights. Practice it the way you want as long as others "natural rights" are not violated.

dear sumit do u have any example of progresiive country without gov,, that may strenghten ur point, gov may not b the perfect system but it is best among the worst

Somalia is the only statelss society in the world. Things have improved a lot since the government fell a decade ago.

Somalia is doing better than its neighbors Kenya and Ethiopia which have a govt. and are also supported by numerous world organizations.

Somalia has one of the strongest currencies in Africa. It has the best telecommunication network in Africa. Many businesses are operating through somalia because of absence of Govt.

It could get better, if the international prsssure to have a govt. in Somalia subsides. For more info, please read : http://www.mises.org/story/2066

My Dear Sumit,
Think it is time to come out of your bubble and see what lies outside it. Facts do not cease to exist even if they are ignored. You can criticise each and every one but what have you got to show for your achievements. Older generation may still be recovering from aftermath of slavery. But what about the present generation who is so quick to point the fingers at others but are so self centred that they prefer to live in bubble of their own. All they can think about is their little selves. Give me this, give me that, give me clean Government, clean society. What about making efforts to clean up your own mess and save the environment and hand over to your next generation what you got from your previous generation.Your language only shows your anger. Who are you angry at ? At the system or government or on yourself for being helpless. If you are so confident of your theory of progress why not clean up the system. That may be harder than you think, instead it may be easier to curse your elders for raising you and helping you become what you are to-day. Let us not forget that person who can not control his own anger stands very little chance of controlling any one else or making difference. Please do us a favour and present your opinions in a civilised manner of which your parents can be proud.

What do you mean by older generation recovering from slavery? I dont know when you were born. But, you seem to have lived most of your life in the same "free india" that I lived in. Stop cutting excuses.

By the way, Australia was a nice place to recover from the aftermath of slavery. The goras left India and you went back to the goras. Good job.

So far I think I have been civilized. I do not know if your definition of being civilized means accepting your outdated opinions.

The whole debate seems to have started because Sumit Dahiya was uncomfortable with Col Malik making some people uneasy about Mallika. Sumit finds her “sexy” and there he begins a new thread. No problems so far.
The actress in her beginning years could truly be called a “whore” because she lacks anything that can be called “an iota of grace”. She proclaimed to have taught villagers how to use contraceptives on NDTV. She wanted to tell people “truly” how husband and wife smooch and entwine their legs; hence she picks up sleazy/real situation roles.
For her coarse mannered speech about sex, she was at that time ridiculed by almost everyone in media. It was partly the jealousy among rivals for the attention she was drawing, but for most part (genuinely) because of her sleazy skin business attitude. If one is shown her interviewing skills two years back, and asked to comment about her “potential”, and if she does not belong to your caste, you would not pay attention to her or may be just the other “item girl” , the output of modern cinema.

My position still remains the same. Mallika is sexy.

Bhai Sumit

Firstly the subject of this thread is abt Deepender Hooda but i havent seen any comments on Deepender in this thread. So pls Change the heading or u are also attracting people by writing the name of Depender Hooda. Secondly abt ur opinion abt govt. which doesnt seems a reality cos how can u run a country without govt. Thirdly, abt military ur language used for military is not acceptable by most of the jatlanders. One more thing abt Mallika is that if she is sexy than who cares and if ur saying this even than who cares. Bhai ek baat aur har baat mein aap govt. ko le aate ho mere khayal se aapne ek baar jatland per Chunav ladne kee iccha jahir karte hue kaha tha kee app agla Loksabha ka chunaav ladenge toh woh aapne kyon kaha tha mujhe yeh bhee nahin samajh aa raha.
Baaki bhai aisa hai kai baat hain jo privatization se hal ho saktee hain but if u say tht we can run a country without a govt. than bhai mere khyal se toh aapne iske liye kai janam lene padenge aur woh bhee kisi ka Avtaar bankar.

Abhimanyu Phougat

I once thought of running for office. But I guess I cannot do it for 2 reasons:

1. I cannot lie and give false hopes to the people.

2. I just hate govt. too much to be a part of it. Forget about Delhi, I feel stiffled and strangled when I pass through even 50 miles of Washington DC.

wt then

sumit just imagine, there is no gov in india, all private org....
i am the big shot, i will have pvt security for me( fancy name for pvt gangs), i will control all my factories without any intervention of gov....

1.now imagine... i will kill any competetor as there is no regulatory authority(as used to happen in raja maharaja times)
2. i will make all workers work for 16 hours...whos gonna regulate
3. i will sell a part of my acres of land to pakistan as they are paying stellar money
4. screw other states i have the dam in my state im not gonna give them electricty they wil have just to pay three folds
5.build my own army in name of pvt security nd use it on my free will
6.nd of course im gonna buy the taj mahal nd lal kila nd get them centrally conditioned and live in them, screw archeaolgy

buisness i mite b doin but the consequences on common people wil b harmful

if u do imply an regualtory authority who will own it????????????

so i think we shud make a check on the powerful ppl in out present gov nd try to improve it
this world is not fair , one who gets power is gonna use it

Thanks Sumit,
There is no point in arguing about your bubble or my residence. We are rational people and hopefully make rational decisions. I have made the rational decision of not wasting my time and energy in trying to change any one's opinion. When I said aftermath of slavery I meant not for an individual but country as a whole. Slavery has the effect of making people insecure and the effect is evident from the state of law and order and eroding ethical values in India. Education was expected to improve it but did it happen ? Do'nt think so. Our culture survived the slavery but is now under attack from inside by do gooders who claim to have a very simple solution for complex problems. Question is while you can criticise every one, do you have courage to be proved wrong. Any hypothesis which can not answer rationally is basically flawed. In my opinion it is not worth wasting time on it. "Any system is as good as people who run it" If people are fair and rational the system will be stable and if it is unfair and oppressive it is bound to meet opposition. That is what we are seeing every where. You have not said any thing new just high lighted negatine aspects of times we live in. Charity begins at home and if you are so sure of your hypothesis then put your money where the mouth is and wish you good luck. As far as being civilised is concerned, in my opinion civilised people do not go on attacking others for no reason and do not use foul language. If Malika is sexy what is to you ?

Continuing on Somalia please also read this link which clearly indicates how crime will rule in a govt less state and how it would be even bigger threat to other nations. Hunger and unemployment are the reigning dieties in Somalia and where the world body, the UN, is not governing, the wardlords are.

http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L2881019.htm

Now on our Army being sacrosanct, I can not comment upon the situation in Kashmir whether the innocent civilian are being killed, from both sides or not.

However I have one glaring incident in our recent history which gives credulity to what Sumit is saying -- the 1984 Operation Blue Star.

On govt's (Indira's) behest, the Army launched and operation in the Golden Temple where separatist Sikh extremists along with Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale were hiding. In the crossfire, all the extremists were killed. 700 jawans, mostly Sikhs, out of 1000 or 1100 in the operation were killed. And according to a rough estimate, about 3000 devotees, pilgrims were killed in the crossfire. In a Sikh shrine, Sikh extremists, sikh jawans, innocent Sikh pilgrims were killed. why? The government could not approach the situation in sane manner.

Morale: The Army has to act on the Govt's direction and innocent civilians may be killed.

The example of Govt as perpetrator came to fore, when Indira was assassinated and sikh were massacred in an organised pogrom in broad day light. Not to say right there in the national capital.

(Even more shameful, atleast for me, is that a certain jat leader organised mass kilings in outer Delhi to almost clinical precision. He must have forgot that the first Khalsa was a jat from Hastinapur.)

And then Rajiv Gandhi's legendary remark: ''Ped girta hai to dharti kampti hai''.

Lastly, I don't know which side to take. Sumit has some really good arguments, and he has put them in quite a nice way, I repeat quite a nice way, as well. But even his side of the picture aint all that rosy. Pain and suffering will always be there, as will be joy.

Learned members have spared a lot of their resources--in terms of time and energy, on this issue that is an offshoot of another thread intended to garner support for the Haryana Government's policy of strenthening higher educational infrastructure to be conveyed to an Hourable Member of Parliament who is in the US on his first official visit. Idea of soliciting such support, as such, is not bad. But there was no need to be aggresive when support to the expected level was not forthcoming. Arguments urging members to sign and counter arguments against that led to such comments that (I personally feel) the purpose of the petition itself is defeated at least to some extent. The young Parliamentarian is a member of jatland also and well aware of the psyche of the people visiting the website. So now it hardly matters how many people sign the said petition.

The debate on that thread led Sumit Dahiya to initiate another one probably for reasons of better exposure. Here he made certain forceful arguments against the 'state' system and the social order. Senior and more experienced of us took his arguments with undue seriousness given that Sumit Dahiya is a well read person but quite junior in age and experience. His posts should be taken more in academic interest than in real situation. His ideas are in quite a raw state and need to be discussed at various levels by him before he realises their impractiability thereof or refinement therein. But I am sure he never intended any offence to anyone though the contents of his posts sound a little bit disparaging. Here at the cost of repetion I would suggest that we must distinguish between a discussion and a debate. Debates usually lead any issue to no where and we end up with no conclusion.

Conclusion: Personally i) We should avoid discussing politics and current political personalities at all. Such discussions always lead to controversies.

ii) A simple notice (in as few words as possible) may be posted whenever any support for such petitions is desired. The forceful arguments in favour are likely to generate equally forceful against these just because politics is also involved.

iii) Friends like Sumit dahiya need to be a little bit more cautitious when writing anything about the conduct, deeds, policies and/or wisdom of earlier than their generations. They should not forget that it is because of the elders' wise and prudent decisions that they are competent enough to argue with that force and freedom. Lekin bhaiyon swanchhandta aur swantantrata ke farak ko pehchano. Us sidhi ko laat mar kar girane ki koshish mat karo jiske sahare yanhan tak chade ho. And if you feel your views are practical and not just utopian, take some pains and post the whole sheme of things as to how the world should run. Start from now as if you are the leader of five billion inhabitants of this planet and everything would go as you plan.

(BTW,somebody made a reference to "Animal Farm". A timely reference!)

OM SHANTI!!

Dear Bharat,

You seem to have misquoted me. I have made no such comments. My views on Mallika are documented in the most famous & well read post on her.

Dear Sumit,

I think other members are not comfortable with this discussion being dragged on further, even though I am still not convinced by your arguments. That's OK. People disagree.

I end the discussion form my side by only saying that what you want to happen would not happen in the next 1000 Years. I had seen a movie long time back, 'Shangrila' was the name I suppose. An ideal place where people live up to the age of 500 years. The real world is different though.

But you must not stop. You must continue to do what you truly believe in. Go after them, the Governments.

Let me also put on record that I haven't felt offended by your arguments or language. Why should I? And I never use 'Age' as a factor to seek higher moral ground.

Lastly about logging time on Jatland. Ha ha.. you are wrong again. From Mar 2003 till date I have less than 900 posts. Not even one post per day. And you! 621 since Jul 2005. But may be I spend more time on Jatland reading other posts than you. Well, I have more time to spend than you. Reminded of an old saying: Busiest people have Maximum time on thier hands.

Wishing you well.

Dear Sumit

Dear friends:
The final status has been reported in the other thread. Let me state that we all
like our friend Sumit Dahiya and there is nothing personal going against him.
He is a sweet kid who is on a learning curve: so let us appreciate what he is trying to do but he is a little too judgmental which is slowing his pace.
Let me tell you Sumit: there are formal models that are taught in classrooms to prove that governments are useful and have a role to play in our lives. And there are elderly people who are affectionate enough to brush their hand on your head and appeal to you (without math and reasoning) to do a rethink.
Clearly enough most solutions come with "if and buts" and as you grow older you will realize that there are no absolute answers to the general problems you seek answers to.
Gautama, the Buddha renounced the world to seek an answer to a problem similar to yours: "why does grief exists?" and if you read what he offers as a solution you will realize that he is not talking a great deal about the original question but gives some advice and there are no guarantees.
I think you need not only a good book of "Public Economics" but someone who is slightly more intelligent to engage in a dialogue about eastern philosophy with you. Be patient: the answer that has eluded the human race for so long cant be as simple as that-disband governments.
I dont think that our love for you has diminished by this episode and let me tell you that it would not if you continue to show willingness to learn.
We all make mistakes, but we can grow.
Best, anmol.

No hard feelings

Ends a "fruitful" discussion.

By the way Jagmohan Sir!

The first time I realized that I am not a kid anymore was last year when I was visiting my mother, and I could not use my CSD canteen card. It had expired some time ago. So I guess my mother had to do the shopping forme instead.

Being new member to this site, I wasnt aware of floating mentality of this site. But now, wat I am realising is this site is full of Preahers irespective of AGE. Few members are putting just garbage to mark their presence. When Sumit puts smething instead of replying , always dominancy is put directly or indirectly. Every second is behind Sh Sh Hooda ji , Licking and licking....., Mr Malik is putting his personal mail content on this site(?????? ) Cannt understand what is this.

I think this site should be kept free from Politics/Politicians.

Are you Dumb or What?

Mr Sagar,

The problem seems to be in your understanding Mr Sagar. I have not posted a personal & private letter seeking employement for my son? I have raised issues that are for the betterment of our community. There is no politics involved in this my friend. Surprises me that a student can't even understand this basic fact.

And don't bring out elder/younger in such issues.

Regards,

JS Malik

Dear Mr Malik,
1-I dont know what is your meaning of Dumb
2-You already mentioned in your post that you have sent private mail to Mr Deepinder and posted contents are part of your PRIVATE MAIL.

3-I am not a student now.
Please give a cool thought & thanks for your aggressive reflection

Dear Saagar,

Your profile says you are a student and that's why I mentioned it. How am I to know what you are if you don't write correct facts?

No mail is private when public issues are raised. I am sure members have 100 other issues to raise for the betterment of the community. May be after reading these points they would add on or may be even better the contents of concerns raised. There is no other agenda my dear. But you seem to have a problem with another member posting what he wants to. I hope you know that I have the same rights as you and would continue to post irrespective of whether someone likes it or not.

No, there was no 'Aggressiveness'. How can I dare to be agressive with the younger generation. Apni izzat pyari hai bhai.

Hahahaha!

Jagmohan Sir!

No hard feelings at all. Culture-wise, the younger generation does hold deep regards for the older ones.

But, there is something that had been biting me for a long time. With time, I have developed a strong feeling that the "socialist leanings" of the older generation had been a catalyst for our slow growth for nearly 4 decades.

If we just overlook it and refuse to admit it just out of cultural reasons, then I really think that our country and its people are at its loss.

The Indian economy has opened up considerably over the past 15 years. Someone, somewhere had to walk against the traditions and work towards liberalizing our economyand move in the direction of free trade.

This is an important area, where a strong disagreement between different generations is healthy for our country and its people.

There are a lot of other areas that I have left upto my mother and other elders to make decisions on my behalf. You can understand what I mean by that. But, I just like many other younger people prefer to retain my autonomy on issues related to politics and economics.

Bilkul Hard Feelings Nahin Hain....

Dear Sumit,

What hard feelings? Matlab ki agar tere se kisi baat pe agree nahin kiya to hard feeling ho jaaye gi. Na bhai, itnaa bura haal na hai.

And frankly I haven't understood what you think I understand. Thoda clarify kar de.

Sumit,

You know how much I like you bro for being a good kid, for saying
what you feel, for not succumbing to "political correctness" and all,
and always willing to take it on the chin. Just the sort of green blooded
Jats I admire! [I encounter so many hypocrites here that seeing people
like you keeps my hopes alive].

However, that said, I gotta be honest with you. Some of your recent
posts made me get that uneasy feeling that you might have
joined some cult or something. I sincerely felt as if you were being
brain washed through some sort of organised "doomsday is coming"
cult.

Hope that is not the case, and hope you are fully focussed on your
academic program. I hope you are not compromising those pursuits
for these aaltoo-faaltoo time pass forums.

Lets be more practical. Here is the deal.
You work hard. Be the ultimate capitalist and get filthy rich.
Then we'll all pitch in to buy our own little island someplace and try to live according to some of these
"natural law" concepts. We'll even get some pretty babes and we'll all fight
each other for them. You want Mallika ? You got it dude!!! Itne paise mein toh woh saara din thumke maaregee. Thambann ki kahoge jib bhi na thambe. "Thum-2...thum-2"
Lekin be ready !!! Every man for himself. ;) Without a police force out there its gonna
be a riot !!! ;)

Till then lets hit those books dude!!

India Will Rule The World

Dear Sumit Dahiya,

I am absolutely convinced with you but please do not forget that experience has no substitute and older generation has experience. We all are able to come up with our oppinions after seeing the ups and downs of these veterans.(Wise men learn from others experience.)Always there is scope of improvement and oppinion like yours will certainly be appreciated.
As far as the govt. jobs are concerned people are selected by govt. (ministers) and we are the people who vote them to govt.We have to change the real cause and not to blame the situation our country is passing through.People who sit under fan are a few in comparison to people who really spend their lives working for this country ,especially the uniformed ones.It is an endless subject , all we have to do is to keep raising these issues and keep it propogating to each other until we maintain our status of being a great country as we were in pre world war times.

JINKI MANJIL DOOR HOTHIN HAIN WO RASTON PER THAKA NAHIN KARTE.

keep going,
