Depressing view from the window of the train

भारत की आबादी 1.15 अरब के आस-पास है. जनसँख्या के हिसाब से भारत का दुनिया में चीन के बाद दूसरा स्थान है. तीसरे स्थान पर लगभग 30 करोड़ की आबादी के साथ अमेरिका का नंबर है. और देशों की जनसँख्या तो इससे भी कम ही है. अगर हम हिसाब लगाएं तो चीन में भी लोगों के रहन-सहन की स्थिति भारत से कोई ज्यादा अलग नहीं है और अमेरिका में भी सभी का जीवन-स्तर अच्छा नहीं है. हम मानकर चलते हैं कि अमेरिका में 20 करोड़ लोग बहुत अच्छे ढंग से जीते हैं. तो इतने तो भारत में भी बहुत अच्छे ढंग से जीते हैं. यदि अमेरिका या कोई अन्य यूरोपियन देश 1 अरब से ज्यादा लोगों को अच्छे से जीवन स्तर का बनाकर दिखाएं तो भारत को चिंतित होना चाहिए. कहने का मतलब यह कि कम लोगों को सलीका सिखाया जा सकता है, ज्यादा को नहीं. भारत में अगर सूअरों के खुला घूमने और लोगों द्वारा गंदगी फैलाने के दृश्य आम हैं तो अमेरिका और यूरोपियन देशों में दूसरे किस्म के दृश्य आम हैं. कुछ समय पहले मैंने अखबार में पढ़ा था कि एक यूरोपियन देश में एक दुकानदार ने यह घोषणा की कि जो भी अगले दिन सुबह सबसे पहले उसके स्टोर में नंगा होकर पहुंचेगा, उसे भारी डिस्काउंट दिया जाएगा. अगले दिन सुबह-सुबह हजारों की संख्या में नंगे स्त्री-पुरुष वहाँ पहुँच गए. ये तो कोई सभ्यता नहीं हुई. क्रिकेट, फुटबॉल के मैचों में स्त्री-पुरुष बिलकुल नंगे होकर मैदान में पहुँच जाते हैं. ये भी कोई सभ्यता नहीं हुई. उस हिसाब से देखें तो भारत के लोग तो बहुत बढ़िया हैं.
सूअर तो बेचारा एक जानवर है, गंदगी में रहना उसकी प्रकृति है. गरीब लोग गंदगी फैलाते हैं तो है तो ये गलत बात, लेकिन वे गरीब हैं, अनपढ़ हैं, उनकी ऐसी हरकत तो समझ में आती हैं, लेकिन अमेरिका और यूरोपियन देशों के लोग पढ़े-लिखे होकर ऐसी घटिया हरकत करते हैं, ये बात कुछ समझ में नहीं आती. इसका मतलब तो अगर भारत में गंदगी फैलाने वालों को सलीका सिखाओगे तो वे फिर खेलों के दौरान मैदान में ऐसी हरकत करेंगे. तब तो उन्हें करोड़ों लोग देखेंगे. उससे तो यही ठीक है, जो वे फिलहाल कर रहे हैं. मेरे ख्याल से इस दुनिया में कभी भी 100 % लोगों का जीवन स्तर अच्छा नहीं हो सकता. अगर ऐसा होने की स्थिति बनी तो फिर प्राकृतिक आपदाएं आएंगी और ये दुनिया एक ऐसी जगह बनी रहेगी, जहां मेहनत करना, कुछ विशेष करके दिखाना लोगों की मजबूरी बनी रहेगी. ये पृथ्वी सुकून से रहने और मजे-मजे में जीवन गुजारने की जगह है ही नहीं. यहाँ जीवन बहुत कठिन है, खुले में गंदगी फैलाने वालों के लिए भी और किसी आलीशान टॉयलेट में सलीके से बैठकर अखबार पढ़ने वालों के लिए भी. सभी लोग एक समान अक्लमंद नहीं, सभी लोग एक समान अमीर नहीं, इसीलिए सभी लोगों के जीवन जीने का सलीका भी एक समान नहीं.


अरे वाह! ये तो अच्छा-ख़ासा भाषण हो गया. बढ़िया है.

Situation is changing wth time.Earlier people use to go to fields for toilet but now more then 50% houses have toilets. Situation will improve with time. Still India is not a very rich country also there is lack of education. Old people still prefer to go to fields. Hope this depressing view will end winthin the next 20 years.

इस आबादी पर कैसे काबू पाया जाए ???

1). शिक्षा बढाओ, और भारत की इस जनता को शिक्षित देखना इन पौलीटीशियन को बिलकुल गवारा नहीं.

In any case who am I to blame the younger generation: every generation have their own priorities and pressure points. i fail to understand as to what was the purpose of what you wrote???

to close yr eyes when you are traveling in a train, passing through a slum?

There is a big difference in going out in the villages and going out next to railway lines.

Villages have places earmarked (ladies and gents separately in some cases) for going out for such ventures, which are considerable away from residential area. It is a healthy habit to walk a km in the morning before freshening up. The trees too, do get their natural manure and to pluck a "Neem datun" afterwards starts an excellent day. I am sure people who have gone out in the villages in the morning cherish the experience. We do not have to ape western ideas or toilets without debating the issue.

Next to the railway track is more of a "majbori" and not a healthy practice as same people stay next to it, with space constraint the non-decompose leads to foul smell and diseases.

So the issue is railway tracks (i mean poor people living next to railway tracks).

House is open for suggestion which will just be a White paper on how to solve this problem.

Twitter is even better for mature people with mature thoughts. Face book has become more a flirting box for young dudes and dudettes sharing emoticons. Twitter has overshadowed facebook. I, however, visit face book also for monitoring the activities of near and dear ones but find twitter a better place for sharing views.
