All these words are already listed in Haryanavi Dictionary page of this site. I am expanding their meanings in a few day's time. These are wild herbs and fruits which have been forgotten now because of destruction of forests and rapid urbanisation. My sole aim to update the dictionary is to protect such precious words and for any query like this. Here are the meanings:

Nakchheenknni नकछिंकी/ नकछींकणी : A wild herb which gives us sneezing if it is inhaled or put near the nose.

Kurandh/ Kurhand कुरंढ / कुरहंड : A wild herb which is useful for healing the broken bones etc. (its dry powder is mixed in hot milk)

Ghilouth घिलौठ : A sweet, wild fruit (root of a wild grass- looks like a tiny potato)

Jheenjh झींझ : The string-like fruit of 'Jaanti' जांटी tree, found in summer – May-June. In its dry shape, it is 5-6 inch long and looks like a yellowish pencil. When it is in raw and green shape, it is called ‘Seengre’ (सींगरे / सींगरी) and used as a green vegetable, normally boiled and mixed with ‘Kadhi’.

Peehl पील/ पीहल : The tiny, sweet fruit of a wild tree called 'Jaall' (जाळ), found in May-June. It is in round shape and is almost the size of a ‘chana’

Saangar सांगर/ सींगर) : A 2-inch long green, wild fruit found in the months of September-October, after rainy season. (यह देखने में भिंडी जैसा लगता है - यह एक बेल पर लगता है जो आम तौर पर बोझड़े या कैर पर चढती है )

I have been receiving occasional messages from members that they are unable to read Hindi posts on this site, especially those written by me, such as this one (Dharti ke Lal). The purpose of writing this post is that those with earlier system of Windows (WIN98, WIN2000 etc.) need to install Hindi font file ‘Mangal’ into their PCs. It is very simple – it is a 140 KB file and has to be copied in “fonts” folder under “Control Panel”. Though I have explained it in the first post under this thread (as also in “Tech Talk” forum), for easy reference, it can be downloaded freely from Internet. One such links is: http://vedantijeevan.com:9700/font.htm

Bhai Dayanand ko badhai...

Bhai Dayanand, this is my very first day in Jatland and the only worthwhile read has been your "Dharti Ke Lal". I wish to commend you for being the real Dharti Ka Lal yourself and writing in Devnagri and capturing the very essence of pastoral existence. May God grant you more strength. It is hubmle folks like you who will one day salvage the last vestiges of our Haryanvi culture while most of us will do the easier task of guffawing at Haryanvi jokes and drinking ourselves to stupor.

I am a Sikh born (Rohtak) and brought up (MNSS Rai; Jind; REC Kurukshetra) in Haryana. Most of my langotiye yaar are my school friends. These jats are fun, warm and very very talented. I consider it a matter of honor that they have conferred the status of a Jat.

I always credit the soil of my homeland, its spirited folk and great teachers in making me what I am today.

I will keep in touch. In the meanwhile...aap takhti kaali karte raho!

Sneh evam Shubhkaamnaon sahit,

Aapka agraj,
-MP

I read this play today and was delighted to read Haryanavi on Internet - a true picture of rural life. Please keep on posting such informative material on Jatland.
