Dear All,

Even it is not a big news but it indicating something for the future but after reading this news it seems that India & Pakistan are really thinking seriously for the peace and prosperity in BHARTIYE UPMAHADEEP. Now both countries politicians and policy makers don't want to leave their old disputes for the next generation.... Both countries are coming very close on economic platform despite the many disputes....
It is really good sign for both countries to keep the peace in Asia and to show the strength for the rest world ......
If Pakistan supports the India's bid for the UNSC Permanent seat then It would be more better for both country and it will write a new chapter........
KASH AISA HO JAYE....

Terrorism is a leading Industry in Pakistan and Pakistanis are utilising it very smartly to further their cause. Recent revelations by Yasin Malik about Paki information ministers involvement are just a tip of many icebergs floating around in Pakistan. I am in favour of engagements with Paksitan, but with full caution. We must build all possible safeguards while dealing with Pakistan and also with China. Whether in world poilitics changes by minutes and not even by hours...Central theme of Indian policy should be a very strong defence and open economy. If we play our cards well, we can emerge a third pole in very near future. Indian politicians need to be more controlled and not like how Mr Advani got carried away in Paksitan...Pakistan is mistaken about Kashmiris. Independent Kashmir would be a pain in back for both India and Paksitan. Independence of Kashmir will be the begining of end of Pakistan. Ofcourse Pakistan can never take away Kashmir by force unless India breaks on its own.. On energy front, I think India should invest more heavily in Nuclear energy. All our pipe lines running through Paksitan will put us at the mercy of them. Pakistan can twist our arms anyday to extract a very heavy price. Pakistan sees itself as a world power and is competing with India on every possible account..Pakistanis are shadowing us wherever we go...

I don't accept it as any change or fresh air. It seems to me only a recess between change of strategy by Pakistan. "yeh to toofan or tsunami ke beech ka sannata hai. Saanp dasna chhod de yeh kaise ho sakta hai." Hence, we must always be alert and prepared to face any challange militarily or otherwise. The money to fund terrorism is not coming to them as it was before 9/11. For obvious reasons the Islamic countries are not supporting them. Uncle Sam is looking straight into their eyes. Hence, the lul. Yasin Malik, self-proclaimed Kashmir leader, when asked as to who other Pakistan leaders, besides Rashid, were involved in terrorism, rightly said, the question should be who of the top Pakistani leaders is not involved in it. Moreover, our own Natwar Singh is there to make life easier for Pakistanis and complicate matters for India. Our PM may be a good human being, good economist and bundle of everything good, but he is just an infant politician, as compared to Musharraf who is too cunning for him. The visit of Kashmiris to Pakistan without passport is going to be too tricky in the times to come and will be fully exploited by the Pakistanis. I wonder, whose brain was behind this foolish move. Now they will cry from rooftops at every international fora that they didn't have passport as Kashmir is not part of India and that they are grateful Pakistan for having allowed them to enter into their country without any travelling documents as well as providing diplomatic support.

Someone rightly said that peace is nothing but a period when one prepares for next war. There is no way India can sit and relax. Indian defence has to grow come what may. From all accounts India is taking good care on that front as far as I can see. Pakistan is like a deasese which can only be controlled and never cured. Hurriyat leaders are nothing but paid Chamchas of Pakistani establishments. Pakistan also knows now that creating independent Kashmir will be as much problem for it as for India. Musarraf has already made a statement against independence and his Hurriyat Chamchas have appreciated his statement. So now they are talking of autonomous Kashmir. Don't they know that Kashmir is already autonomous with article 370 ? Fact of the matter is that in their 10 life time they can not snatch away Kashmir from India by force. Now militancy also has failed as every Kashmiri leader is talking aganist it. Latest is from Pakistani senate itself where they are head hunting Rasid Shekh. Mirza Aslem eg has also verified the involvement of Rasid Shekh. Main stream Pakistanis know that the days of open militancy are gone. India has been living with such things for 100s of years in Chambal, North East etc..

Look at the positive sides of what all is happening in India;

1. India's airlines ordered half of world aroplanes this year.
2. Finally USA and China are also coming round to support India for UNSC.
3. USA is talking of giving manufacturing rights to India for F-16s and F-18s.
4. India's Chandrayan project is moving on schedule
5. There are more pages in news media written on Indian economy than whole Europe.

Things are changing much faster than what most of us think. Next major change is in Infrastructure...I think just round the corner...If all goes well, India in next 10-20 years will be a much more stronger India. Most countries have stopped opposing India openly..even Pakis are toning down their opposition now...Most striking thing is the Indian maturity...I have not heard any major immature statement from our PM or any minister in last one year..

Dear Rajendraji,

Picture looks rosy but this is also a historical fact that India has always fallen prey to outsiders only because of internal weaknesses or divisive forces. Pakistan is not that big a threat as our own internal forces and the habit of our government to ignore the issues that might threaten the very core of our existence. To me, at present the two-three big issues GOI should pay immediate attention to are water, social equality and corruption.

First and foremost is the issue of what. Some people have rightly said that water will be the cuase of third world war. But, to me that situation is too far away as I have seen that even poor countries in sub-Saharan Africa and conscious of the importance of water and they are doing reasonably well and are already using the recycled water. But, our Government is playing the modern day Niro to this problem. The speed at which we are exausting our groundwater reserves makes me wonder as to what if the monsoon fails us for a couple of years. Are we prepared for that ? I think this is high time we look for the solution of this problem without loss of time. The linking of rivers scheme has been put in cold storage and nobody is thinking on the lines of setting up desalination plants or responsible water management minus politics.

Second, is the way our leaders are handling the reservation policy. People, especially our youth, have already started showing their resentment against reservation based on caste system as those taking advantage of it are already well-off whereas the poor upper caste or middle class Indians are suffering because of that. I myself have seen anger in our youth for the so called dalits. What if the students with 80% marks on denial of admission into colleges reacts against those who are admitted for having got only 40%. Our dalits used to be docile but with the emergence of leaders like Mayavati and Paswan, they have become arrogant resulting in skirmishes in villages, work places etc. How long the so called upper castes will bear demerit and arrogance ? In these circumstances the situation may explode and civil war will be hard to avoid resulting in jews like pogrom. Some areas like Assam are just a trailer which died down because it was not caste but parochial issue whereas caste war whenever starts will be at every doorstep. Otherwise too, a nation not respecting merit cannot go very far. It will definitely falter.

Third, is the all-pervading corruption. Though it has been there since ages and even our hon'ble PMs had the gall to admit it but now the good thing is that people have become conscious of it especially in matters affecting the community as a whole, e.g. in a western UP village when people noticed that the contractors were constructing just 8 ft. wide road instead of 12 they wanted the concerned officer to come at the site and when he didn't, they stopped the work. This shows the rising awareness among people but the problem is that the Government is not able to take any action against corrupts as most of them are chamchas of corrupt politicians.

Shouldn't we take advantage of the time external forces gives us some respite, and look into these internal problems ?

Dear Uncleji,
I 100% agree with you... lack of pure drinking water/corruption/ and reservation on the basis of casts, are the big problem..... we must have to find out effective solution for these problem as soon as possible..

Dear Seharwat Ji,

Present of India is very different than her past. The time when we fell to divisive forces, we were ruled by kings and public hardly had any role. What was happening inside Red fort was not known to people in Chandni Chowk. There was no media. It used to be months before a man in Hisar would know of the new king in Delhi. Times have changed. Most Indians are very conscious of India's place in world. We might differ on whole lots of issues, but all Indians get united when it comes to foreign policy or any country talking or doing anything against India. Fate of India is not in hands of few like Jahangir or Bahadur Shah Zafar. Development of India has now become like a sacred cow. Irrespective of which party comes in power, development has to proceed at higher and higher speed. All politicians know this now. If one looks at Indian and world media, there is more economic news on India than anything else.

No doubt, many issues remain and many more will come which needs to be addressed at top priority. As I had mentioned in one of my other post, Indian priorities have been changing according to need of the day. When she became free, development was the top agenda. India was one of the first countries in Asia to start the atomic energy programme. Contrary to all beliefs, it was Nehru who was keen to have the atomic Bomb. Things got temporarily delayed when Shastri came. Sarabhai was another person who dragged the programmed to its grinding halt. It was our democratic parliament, which kept the pressure ON, and finally we have the atomic weapons. Democracies might be slow, but they are people friendly. Similarly we started steel production and many more large industries. Might be our model was not right, but intentions were.

All is not rosy in China as all the news is censored. They also have massive power cuts and water problems. There is farmer’s unrest in China as well. There are thugs operating in China.

India has improved its defence to the extent that no one would dare to attack it so easily. This is a big achievement. Indian education is well respected all over the world now.

I do agree that there are many fronts on which we have not done so well, but again with limited finances, picture is not as bad as it appears. Water is receiving lots of attention and I am sure India would solve this problem sooner or later. India is a democracy and as already mentioned, it takes time to implement projects. Thought late, but India has been implementing the path breaking projects like Sethusamundarma canal, Construction of naval aircraft career, Chandrayan, almost 3-4 satellite launched every year and so on.. There are not many countries in the world who are anywhere in race now when it comes to high technology projects. Let us not forget that as a democracy, we are hardly 58 years old.

Now coming to corruption. Yes we have this problem in India and there is no doubt about this. However, institutions like CVC and courts are fairly active now, though slow. As we have more and private industries and role of government decreases, I am sure corruption will also go down. More than government, it’s a people’s habit. Slowly it’s changing.

Overall I would say that the picture is not as hopeless, if not rosy. Comparing to world scenario, we are faring well and hope to do much better in coming years..India of today has some identity, unlike many countries that are loosing it fast. Look at Europe how fast it is loosing ...Its like a dead star almost. Look at Japan, one of the richest countries, literally bending back and forth for its rightful place in the world. Chinese are treating Japan like a nursery kid. I am sure you won't find anyone doing that to India now. I feel this in itself is a major Indian achievement.

Regards
Rajendra

My dear Rajendraji,

It is a pity that inspite of media which is crying hoarse about the people's problems the Government is sleeping like Kumbhakaran. Are they not aware that peple have already started agitating even in villages. The very leaders who are supposed to solve people's problems are the mischief makers themsevles. When one party is in power the other ones tries hard not to let the people's life become easy so that the party in power could be ousted from power. However, the same people who cry hoarse when out of power forget about them after occupying seats. Such wretched leaders are nothing but thugs. I have been to China but didn't see any thugs operating as regards day to day life is concerned. Pick-pocketing is not as rampant as in India and rape is a rarity. I wish we could have a China like governance. I have yet to see a better governance than in China. The so called thugs are not criminals but the political opponents only. They may be anything for monied people or for media but average Chinese is definitely happier and better off compared to Indians. They are well-fed, well-clothed, have state of the art infrastructure and definitely well informed about world affairs. I wonder why there is a misconception that media is throttled in China. There may be some censor as regards internal affairs are concerned but average Chinese is better aware of world affairs than an average Indian. I have seen young chinese girls travelling all alone even at midnight. In China, if a criminal is shot dead his family, if they claim the deadbody, have to bear the the cost of the bullet, whereas in India every buddying thug/goonda is a future MLA/MP. Hence, when we talk of thugs lets not forget we have VIP thugs. A communist state with so much security for an average citizen is far better than a democracy where no one knows what next moment will unfold in their lives. After all the people investing billions there are not fools. We must thank the communists because of whom the average Chinese is not English literate and we are in advantageous position on this account alone. Otherwise Chinese are brainy too.

As regards Japan, though economic fluctuation is nothing new, if we start comparing ourselves with them, I am sure neurologists have lots of work on their hand. Having barely managed to open our eyes we have started shouting "India is shining". Oh God. Even as poor countries as Korea, which had a per capita income of USD 87 and GNI of USD 2 billion only in 1962 has PCI of more than 10,000 USD and GNI of more than 600 billion dollars. If we ignore the industries set up by FIs We have only a few steel mills to boast about.

I salute to our youth and their parents who struggling against all odds have given good education to their children. Here too, in spite of having such brilliant kids, our government have yet to provide even the minimal research facilities and they have to run to, US, Canada, Europe and even countries like South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore. After all we are the nation who claim Chandrashekhar, the noble laurete, as our own after his achievements abroad while don't employ him even as lab assistant back home. Yes, dear Rajendraji, India is a heaven if you have right contacts and capacity to indulge in corruption otherwise things are really-2 difficult. Before we start comparing ourselves with Europe, Japan, China and others, we have to remain conscious and for consciousness everyone need at least a glass of water (forget purity for the time being I am talking of just water - evne if coming from johar if there are left any). When we were teenagers, village used to be destination during summer but now tankers quench their thirst !!! Elders have rightly said : "bin paani jag soon".

Sehrawat ji,

Your statements are thought provoking and I agree with you that we should look at ourselves critically. I agree that China is doing great and that our colonial legacy - English is our only advantage over them.

I would like to say a few things -
1. You mentioned about the faster growth rate of korea. There are many more we can add to the list - singapore, malasia e.g.. The key difference that separetes them from India however is their size. Making India grow at that pace is certainly not as easy.

2. The India of today is not the same as the India of yesteryears. India is changing for good especially after the economic reforms of 1991.

Agreed, India has a long way to go and it has all the problem you pointed out. But I would say the situation is not absolutely dismal either. You are right that instead of shouting "India shining", we should focus our energies on solving problems.

Dear Sehrawat Uncleji

Reading your post I remembered the A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's quote. that "Why are we so negative ".I am unable to understand that why r we comparing ourselves with other country... whatever Japan, America, China & England has achieved is the result of their resources/situation. They had able to catch the opportunity on right time and if we missed it then it means not that we have lost everything or we will not have more option/ opportunity to move ahead. Before going to criticize the government role we also should check our inner-soul that what we are doing for it. You are right when u say that many politicians are corrupt and criminal, if we know it then why are we sending them in parliament/assembly by full majority. None takes into notice to a honest& dedicate candidate for the election seat. We can saw a huge gathered in a rally of GUNDA TYPE Candidate. why it is so? Now plz don't say that "Public Darti Hai "
As you have said that Government is not providing basic resources to the Youth this is why they have to go in foreign countries.. But tell me Agar Hamare Ghar maie ek Ameer ke ghar jitni facility nahi hai to kya hame wo ghar chore dena chiya......
If our youths are able then why we should not make our home (India) developed like other country. It was really unfortunate that every person is keenly interested to go in aboard. None wants to work in rural areas.. why it so...

pehle hame sudarna hoga agar ham sudhar gaye to government kya bala ki cheez hai jo is country ke welfare ke bare maie nahi sochegi...

with regards
Mukesh

Please don't mind If I have written anything wrong...

Dear Mukesh,

Its not the question of amiri or garibi. I am not trying to suggest that we should be rich. What I am trying to point out is the attitude of our decision makers. If the attitude is OK nobody would complain. Didn't one of your posts said only attitude is 100%.
