Deal karlo ya apne aap kisi ko dhoond lo. Its pretty simple !
Our society (Indian) is the most materialistic and confused society on the planet. Bride side hate people who ask for dowery (which is ok if they dont care about the monetary side of groom...thats not the case though) and groom side need a 'hoor ki pari' with excellent education and the list goes on and on...
Indian parents are impossible. Girls want a lavish lifestyle without any hard work. Guys want a bloody 'doctor girl' with a 'royal family' background. Looser parents looser kids. Need to get a bit real in life and stop making deals.

I think money become issue in both side (Boy and Girl) because everyone want to hide their selfishness and tendency of avoiding regular work.
People feel work as a burden and they think that money can provide easy solution to solve the problem. But it is not true, It cannot be true. Money can provide temporary solution but not permanent.
The point raised by gagan-"stop making deals" is very crucial, selfishness and luxury feeling are boosting it.

Divorce Rate In India
Divorce rates in India are amongst the lowest in the world. 11 marriages out of 1,000 marriages (around 1 marriage out of 100 marriages) ends up to divorce in India. This figure was even low in 1990. In 1990, 7.40 marriages out of 1,000 marriages ended up in divorce in India.

Even so, if "both of them are thinking about any one else", they are not prostituting in my humble opinion; but at worst being disloyal (you can also say naughty since they are just committing sins in their thoughts, not acts. Every man who thinks about killing another man is not a murderer).
And if they are "fulfilling their duty" without any love as per your argument - then they are actually being loyal to the institution of marriage; not disloyal !!
