Dear Jatlanders,

Equities trading / share trading is one of the important investment tool for people now a days. Almost 50-60% of IT/banking people and businessmen in cities do equity trading. In my company also, I see that people keep a lot of interest in share market and they actively participate and make money....

Somehow I feel that as far as our community is concerned, we people believe in making Fixed Deposits (FDs) and not investment in Equities. Same way, we do not go for EQ linked insurance schemes but for LIC.. Mutual funds toh door ki baat hai...

Lekin, my personal experience in EQ market has been good. I have been investing in equities and have got good returns with time. I believe that if one knows the fundamentals of a company, he/ she can judge about it and can make his/her mind to invest or stay away..

Of course sometimes your decisions may go wrong...For example Satyam scam.. but this is one odd case.

My purpose of starting this thread is to attract your participation and view in knowing how a new investor can enter the market as market is very low during last two months and what should one expect. Of course I also have my knowledge and will share with people. Anyone who wants to start a trading and wants to knwo ABC of it... I can very well guide..

We can even discuss which equity one should buy and which to stay away from.

Thanks!

Last year share market went downside (55~60%), do you really think this is the best time to invest in equity or mutual funds.

Those who like to preserve money for future have a good chance when market is low...

DLF ke share le lo
133 pe pahuch gaya hai rate & may come even low but not below 125
Good chances are to be at 170 within 10/12/15 days

Bana lo paise jise banane ho
;)

If you are entering into the market at this point of time then enter with a long term perpective and do not burn your hands in derivatives or in day trading.
As a small investor it is always advisable to purchase a particular stock and keep it with you for 5-6 months. As this is a generalise statement so can't hold good for all the stocks.

You are absolutely right.
But many people wanna make money overnight..which turn out to make them burn their hand in burning market.

Rahul bhai,

DLF has declared on stock exchanges that they dont have money to execute projects. The biggest problem which people do it that they jump in for companies about which they do not know the fundamentals..

DLF ka share even double digit mein bhi aa sakta hai... I was hearing this on Zee business today morning itself... Be careful... even if you invest ...... do it in small small amount and average out your investments :)

Valid point Anil bhai,as there is also one famous saying in capital market "don't keep all your eggs in a single basket"

It is always better to go for industry analysis as a whole rather taking on a particular company's fundamental.
Try to design your portfolio in such a manner that u get maximum return with minimum possible risk, although risk and return are directly proportional to each other.

Stocks which are good and are very cheap at this point of time can be added to the portfolio with a medium to long time view:

GVK POWER
Reliance Natural resources
Reliance petroleum
Sail
NDTV
HCL TECH
Polaris soft
SUN PHARMA
SESA GOA
JSW STEEL
SBI
PNB
ZEE TELE
ONGC
BHARTI TELE

Stocks needed to be avoided for the time being

DLF
UNITECH
Infact all real estate stocks
WIPRO
RANBAXY
TATA STEEL
ROLTA
EDUCOMP
NIIT
S KUMAR
ARVIND MILL
SATYAM

Markets can go down 15 to 20 more near or after the budget and till General elections are over and hence a great caution is needed to be exercised.

Thanks Ajay ji.

I am also not an expert in Finance or Investment domain. Whatever I have learnt it by investing my own money and taking wise decisions by considering the companies according to their performance.!

Whatever has happened in the market in last 6-7 months....For a retail investor like us, there is always a concept of "stop loss". When markets fall.... we should always know where to execute the stop loss for any share!!

Yes, I would say that it is best time to invest from "long term" perspective... but also for short gains !!!

One small example...because I was following up Reliance share for around a month and I got it at Rs 1080 per share two weeks back... I knew that it is least price for the share... I accumulated shares and within two weeks time it has crossed Rs 1320 per share... so it is lots of thinking process which should go behind...

market depends upon sentiments

Dahiya saab,

Kon sa formula fit kar diya is fluctuated market main, I think one should wait upto 4~5 months to see the market trend, its too risky to enter at this point of time.

That i said......Stock market is always risky but seeing the fundamentals of the companies and their present levels stocks which are recommended to be bought are very correct stocks and vise-a versa. There are no formulas for stock market. Those who want to enter should not buy every thing now.....It should be a systematic investment plan spread over to about 6-8 months.Hope you got the point.

Investment

I am agree with you Anilji,

But one should know the art of booking profit or loss at right time cos ups and downs of market makes us double minded resulting loss of capital or not getting adequate profit.

Thanks Ajay ji.

It would be really nice to get views from the people who are in to this business, so that we can get to know the practical experiences and recommendations based on them

Although Share market is never 100% predictable and it always show ups and downs on rumors but one should invest his surplus money for a long prespective and only in Blue chips.

Ajay Ji... you can enter but make sure that you invest bit by bit and average oout your holdings...

For example..if you wish to Invest in Infosys share.... invest some amount now at 1280..... then if it comes down... some at 1230.... and then more at 1150 and so on..... do not invest whole amount at 1300 price....

this way you will be very much safe in falling markets as well....!!!
