Yes, Of course it is poor parenting. It has been proved by the psychologists that decline of joint families have contributed to the rise of crimes among youths of Middle class. In the name of modernity, today, the parents have failed to discharge their duties properly. They concede to wrong and unjustified demands of their children. I have seen in many families that they first allow their children for all those activities, which could draw them towards wrong. Due to unreasonable liberty given to children, they go astray.

Poor parenting, but Kids too don't listen...

Love

Jokes apart, the fact is that parenting is not a joke in these times. Children have stopped listening too. There is infirmation boom and 'rat race is ON'. Career has become more important than spending time with chiuldren. Children see parents arriving home past midnight and entering even the toilet with a Blackberry. All these 'modern tools of slavery' have devastated parenting. As much as parents say "don't do this baby", the baby ensures that whatever has been refused has to become No 1 item on the to do list. A rebellious attitude seems to be the 'IN thing'.

My advice to all 'would be parnets' is to please decide with a cool mind whether you can handle a child, especially if both are working. And if you decide to have a child, give TIME to the child.

Best regards,

JS Malik

For sure, children can not be blamed. A child comes with a blank mind, it gets filled by what he/she observes (sees, hears) in the home, society, etc.

For the rise in crime, I think the main reasons could be that the living environment is getting more and more insecure.
Also, marketing has become highly immoral these days. Ads are getting targeted to lure juvenile.

Also, unfiltered adoption of wester cultures has resulted in a confused society. We should note that in western countries there is very high support system which is totally missing in India. Parents and schools should make children aware about these differences.
