Harender jee - sleeping is good!! For me meditation is an 'active' endeavor rather than a 'passive' one - During meditation, I am downplaying the 'waste' thoughts and emerging the positive thoughts. The activity is like cleaning the mind of the 'waste' and tiring thoughts.

Everyone is emphasizing on Meditation for keeping the stress away. Everyone suggests a different technique for meditation. Can anyone who has really practiced mediation and benefitted, suggest the proper way of doing it?
• Do regular exercise (may be 10-20 mins) daily.
• Be open to trying different things - You never know when you could find your hidden talent.
• Always user your common sense, always be stay focused on making your own decisions.
• Be kind no matter what.
• Learn from everything you do & try not to repeat your same mistake again.

Well, my fool-proof technique to unwind my stressed mind is listening to my fav music with eyes closed. And Bands like Pearl Jam, Radiohead and singers like Eddie Vedder, Gary Moore and Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle never disappoint me.
And still if this doesn't work well then I add chilled Beer to it and it works like charm.
Cheers

Dear All,
Our mind is our best friend, it is said. Our thoughts have a direct impact on our health as well. Many demands are made on our mind, especially in new situations. The ability of the mind to stay in good state is a trait that I believe, can be developed. I have some experience in this regard that I would like to share.
In my day to day life when the demands start tiring the mind, it is time to replenish the minds energy, which I do so by meditation i.e., focussing on the breath. During this time, I donot prevent the so called tiring thoughts from coming to my mind. In the midst of all this mental 'traffic', the focus on the breath allows me to still the mind and identify the reason for the so called 'troubling/tiring thoughts'. A stillness of mind allows to reach the core of the matter and a solution is invariably found. The mind feels fresh and energised.
How do you keep yourself happy and contented?

Urmila ji, U do "meditation" by "focusing", these are just contradictory words, u can "concentrate" not "meditate" with focusing.
Meditation is something else, it is like u r widening ur mind, instead of narrowing down (focusing).
Jitender jee, I know from experience that meditation requires concentration and focus, both. The result of meditation can be different for different people - for example the feeling you just described (widening mind etc) perhaps happens in your experience.
U r contented ?
I seek contentment in whatever I do and I especially get it as a result of meditation.
u r just genius, I have never ever seen a contented person in my whole life (u r just extraordinary).
go for physical exercise i.e running, game of basketball or anything that brings out sweat , it always helps.
hence create negative thoughts which causes tension & imbalance in our mind.
well said

Urmila
