...Oh for Pete's sake, I simply take my words back ol' sport; no harm done there now, eh!!! ;)

But frankly Seema, I don't know about that; to say that satire is more an asset of 'English' would be quite grossly incorrect in my book...

...and well dear chap, you could always maybe try translating some into Haryanvi while having a spot of tea, and see how that goes............
i hav tried to jattufy one english joke. read "main te ghher...".
d original was a toon "bill and hillary's bed is on sale...as good as new coz one side was never used".

nw just c d haryanvi version...hw translation robs d spirit of joke. i still feel english humor has d best taste.

...But then of course it would not be the same, .......Ok, vice-versa that's like trying to translate one of the 'thate' Tau jokes into English and still hoping to get the same 'bang' for your buck translating that original whacky punchline!!!.....(never gonna happen!)

ps. Haryanvi humor is da best! ;)

You think and feel Haryanvi, It has no boundaries!

whatever you guys say, but i have learnt one new english verb from Seema and that is 'Jatufy'

Yes Seema, Jitu and Keshav are right in aying that Haryanavi Dilect is very vast and you need to expore it

A simple test of this is, you take any sentense of everyday use and you can translate it into Haryanvi. It may be hard to find scintific words. You can use hindi words in Haryanvi to enlarge its scope.

On limitations i would say, every language would have its limitations. When we use it as a second language. I mean you can't translate Haryanvi homour into English and vice versa. Like in Shailendera's Humour thread Beedi Jalaille, jitu has written something that 'hooke mein deekde tod jyan'.. If you traslate the noun 'Deekda todd', would it have that kind of punch? I believe , no. And how about the word "bawali Taant"? Will it carry the same feeling if you may translate it adumb head, crazy or what whatever?

Yes, we need to expore it by using it more and more.

Baaki behanji, isss keshav ka bura nahi maanna, ye to poora Deekda todd, chilam fodd or moka lagjya te ulti foonk maar ke chillam ne paani ki bhar jyaga. ke karren , hai to aapna hi bachaa....LOL

Cheers!!!

Is it wrong to address "behanji" to an unknown jat Girl?

If yes, than I take my words back Seema ji! I had no intention to insult you or to indulge in kind of sarcasm or leg pulling.I have tried to be a bit humorous about keshav because i know him.

Cheers!
