Very interesting facts are emerging from the study of geneolgy of Hagan gotra.
As per indications they are Saka who came from from Persia in 2 BC and ruled over complete North India incl Malwa and Sourashtra. The first Hagan Kchatrap Hagan and 7 generations therafter ruled over the complete area from Mathura around 2 and 1 BC. Their geneology has been found on carved on stones which r kept in Mathura Museum.
Under pressure from the subsequent invaders they moved towards Bayana and Ranthambore. With the rise of Bhudhism they patronosed it. Somewhere in 8th or 9th AD they came into hindu folds. They were linked to Lord Krishna by the Brahmans and incl into Jadu (yadu) Vansha. accordingly a geneology was created by them which is still kept with the Jaga ( geniology keepers) residing in the Helak vill of Bharatput Dist of Raj. The famous Maharajas of Bayana Sind Pal and Jaindra Pal are in the same line. Jaindra Pal was defeated by Turks near Agra in 1100 AD. His 11 sons dispersed and some of them at the appropriate time founded their kingdoms at Bayana, Mahaban, Ranthambore, Kutch and Jaisalmer.
They are now devided into 18 Gotras; 12 gotras of Jadon rajputs incl Bhati rulers of Jaisalmer, 5 Gotras of Jats ( Sinsinwars; Bharatpur rulres, Sogariya: Kr Natwar Singh, Nohwars, Ghayars and Hagan) and one Khan Jadey muslims in Alwar dist.
Hagan under Muslim rulers ruled from Mahaban and were given the title of Choudhary. Their presence has been proved by the recovery of stones scripts from the Mahaban fort. Under Mogals they refuse to pay taxes. Aurangjeb tried to recover the same which resulted into the famous Jat revolt of Sadabad. Their leader Gokula Jat was killed along with his uncle Udai Singh in Agra. Udai Singh is the fore father of the writer who fouded Naogaon mud fort. It has now 24+ villages. Hagans had 24 Forts incl mud forts. They now reside into more then 124 Villages and have four kheras; Bisawar, Unchagaon ( Gokula), Kursanda and Naogaon.
The writer is still researching the subject. What is interesting is the commanality of the gotras, in terms of their origin, of Rajputs, Jats and Muslims. But the theory of their origin from Saka has very strong evidence. But it may be premature to rule out the Brahman theory of Jadu (Yadu) Vansha.
