Shamless-American Journalists Gets Beaten By Delhi Police!

Police in India do tend to think they are Gods or something.. Hardly surprising..

Before someone attacks me for sitting outside India and bashing Indian Police and starts questioning the credibility of the cops in the country where I am.

The cops here will even come and unlock your car too if you by mistake leave the car keys inside and it gets locked.. There is NEVER a case of policeman physically assaulting even the hardened criminal..Can't imagine Indian cops ever being so helpful

Anyway the original post was about the incident mentioned, how come so many other things are brought into discussion , I have no clue...

"Every body knows level racism we are facing in west. No need to mention, what happens to Indian students in Australia. Where was the Aussies police at that time???."

its been mentioned earlier here
1% to wot happenes in India

Good statistics Deepshi ji, I would like to know the source of it........
Here i am trying to say why we are having double standards for US and India......Both countries has their own positive and negative......Only extent is different. West is no where near heaven..
Before comparing, we have to analyze problems of India and circumstances in which we are working. Why there is so much shout based on one incident( Even nobody knows truth) that started blaming whole country?????
If we compare both sides of coin then difference is not that much as we are feeling. It's just because of our mentality.
Inspite of having so many issues, We are performing well at international level in every field.

completely agreed with Kapil. Every where conditions are different. It's not possible to have a system like US or UK in India. Indian system has it's own strength and weakness.

Many of things in thread looks like off topic Still I would like to share my own views on the going discussion.

It's really disheartening to see that many fellow members of jl presenting their own country worse than Taliban. Every body knows level racism we are facing in west. No need to mention, what happens to Indian students in Australia. Where was the Aussies police at that time???. It's well known that, for Indians how much US is safe in night??. Where the professional U.S. police goes in the night??? In spite of all this western countries are presented like heaven on earth by our own people.

When our VIPs are misbehaved by US police(no need to mention many examples are there, starting form politicians to Bollywood star) then it's part of their system and VIPs are doing drama. Now a drunkard American is troubled(even that's not sure) by Delhi police we are using words like 'SHAMELESS' for our own country. Many of us are defending America(biggest sponsor of war in the world) like any thing.

I hope this will change soon and people will realize their responsibility toward their mother land.

Parveen Ji,
The first step for improvement is to identify the weakness otherwise what would you improve upon?

Everyone knows how the justice system in India is. Further, this weakness of justice system is also some one's business. Who would pay a policeman had the justice system been strong? Look at the builders, all most all of them loot a common man's life's earning just because they are connected to some one powerful.

American or Indian, West or East, its up to us how we look at it. Doesn’t this thing happen to a common Indian?

It's not in our interest to get emotions and attach weakness with the mother land.

Agree..........

Agreed....I am not emotional but comparison should be done on same ground. There is no point of comparing only some points between two countries. and Ethics has to be maintain while talking about motherland.
No doubt, We have to be practical to move forward. I am not going in problems and their solutions because it will be highly off topic.

Raj Rathee
Ghaney Swaad manna ley, kuch auraan tain bhi chod dey.
How has Delhi Police acted differently than lets say LAPD, who beat the living crap out of Rodney King on Fwy, that was taped and led to Los Angeles Riots, destroyed few careers. We in Delhi or India want the protection of law, we want Delhi Police or any other police to Serve and Protect but if we are caught doing something wrong or breaking the law--mind it we do so with impunity, then we abuse the same cops we expect to server and protect, call some rishteydaar who knows someone to get out of 'hawalaat' or some 'challaan'. Delhi Police or any other 'Mehakma' suffers from one Indian Problem that is 'Damn if you do, Damn if you dont'. We abuse our cops, assault them at any dharna, hartaal, etc, how many of us have actually given them the respect that they deserve, they are the representative of law at that time and if we don't respect them, that just means we don't respect law. Let me further clarify, there will always be bad cops that is just a satistical fact. But overall most cops want to make honest living, do believe in their work but society and system provides them with temptation of money, glitter etc, so after a while they do fall for them.
How many of us has--be honest here, called a Desi Cop Shrimaan or Sir or Officer instead we call them Mama, Pandu, and other adjectives that don't need to be written here.
In some morbid way, I am actually glad that 'American Journalist' got his share of beat down, doesn't he know better not to interfere with police matters, in USA it is called Obstruction of Justice and India it is called, lesson in humility--pun intended. :p

Good points.
And that is what I also was saying btw. We shouldn't single Indian police out.

Rathee Bhaisaab! I am very candid about what is supposedly my private life. I consider myself to be a very broadminded person. And when I share my personal experiences in life, I expect the people I share them with to be broadminded.

Sumit Yaar...Broadminded-ness is all relative. Everyone of us has some of it.
And everyone of us has plenty of narrow-mindedness as well.
On a forum you'll be exposed to both sides. So gotta take it as it comes.
(and you do well with that... :) )

Whether you agree with me or not, I believe there are a lot of people who will go ballistic about "apni-sanskriti" on forums like these, but when they are off their keyboards they either deal with their hidden desires or they have a life that is totally antithetical to what they say on such forums.

Ha ha ha...Inn batan ka nayaraa sawaad sae....
I think it is fair to keep both sides....

I shared my experience because I thought I could make a point, but the discussion is just going off-track. It will take another generation for some members to mature to the next level.

Well..don't count on it...Some of us will never get there regardless of the
generation.

Once again, there are good cops and there are bad cops. Your co-worker got asked for a date. If she was in India theres a good chance she may have been raped by the testosterone-driven Delhi Police hawaldaars. What's even more ridiculous is that the bimbo is going around boasting about how she sweet-talked her way out of a ticket.

Aaah...calling her a bimbo...not exactly broadmindedness now is it :D ...
I think she is a fine lady... one who is aware of her strong points
and leveraging and sharing them ;)

By God...yoh thread padh ke weekend set hogaya... :D

One of my goree colleagues (a former model - and I can see why) was pulled over by a cop on a California highway for speeding...way over the limit...she
batted a few eyelids...acted cute 'n' all...and ticket ko maaro goli...ended up getting asked for a date...she puckered her lips...showed her marriage ring...said how sorry she was to have to let this opportunity pass...and was off on her way...

Poonam madam on the other hand was merely told the way to home... :p :tamatar

O teri ki..yo saang te manne ibbe dekhyaa..:D
Rahn dyo Rathee ji..laagda te konya ek kisey former model ke co-worker ho aap......heh heh :p:tamatar

Shyani thee..apna kaam kaad liya..pretty common though here (to escape from ticket..).

My point was lil different, may be I didn't elaborate enough.

The guy went out of the way to help out..wo manne batawe thaa ek nuen te nuen er nue chale jayiyo..manne khatra tha ek kade fer rall jaoon so I requested him..if he can lead me the way..LOL..I know now when I see it in retrospect I laugh at myself..that was way to much to ask for. I guess I was very nervous...pretty late in the night and lost..in the middle of nowhere. But he agreed and started driving ahead of me and asked me to follow him..which I did for sometime and when I was confident that I could take it from there I actually ditched him..(not very proud to say this..you know)..took a wrong U turn (by mistake, I confess..) while the poor guy went ahead to take the right U turn ..and I was off..........:D

Even many "respectable and professional" Indians including "respectable jats" in Western countries act worse then Delhi Police and lead double lives. One fake face for the society and the real face in private! Then they show contempt for Indian Police? Would that be hypocrisy? Another basic personality trait of an Indian!
