Let it depends on the owner...If he needs money and he dont have any alternative, he can sell it...No one has any right to take it forcefully...

The land is valued under different denominations like the best land is rated as 1 Rupeeye ki, then 12 aanne, 8 aanne and so on to the lower level.

The quantity of 1 Rupeeya land is very limited and generally a farmer if decide to give this 1 rupeeya land on Baadha, he will earn Rs. 15000/- Per acre per year(This I have calculated on much higher side, actuall is much less than this). And if by God's grace a person has 15 Acre of land,,,,how much he will earn in an year,,,

The Farmer will earn just Rs. 2,25000/- per year for his 15 Acre. Again if we consider that happy family to be of small size ie just 4 members. Can a family of 4 members survive and in just Rs. 2,25000/- for a year. The medical, education, food items, festivals, clothings and so many other things will he be able to meet those very basic requirement and live with pride. My answer is a BIG NO.

And that why my parents decided to give best education despite having enough land holdings in my village. I can not assume of surviving just on land and agriculture. The land holdings are diminishing with each generation and its extremely difficult to multiply the land holding with that meagre incomes.

The example of 15 acres again i have given on higher side, other wise practically people are left with 2-3 acres also. And you can imagine how a person will earn in an year who has just 1-2-3 acre and what innovative ideas that poor farmer can think of and implement as well:), The calculation will go down if the person has land valued less than 1 Rupeeya and low rated land is much than the top category and accordingly the earnings on that land

There is no harm in finding good means of livelyhood where earnings are that much where you can keep pace with progress

no we shud not sell land for earning big bucks....our ancesters hav left this for us to be utilized in a good way and we shud value it and shud stay connected to our roots.

Dosto,

One very practical question of which I am trying to find a suitable answer.

More of our Jat population is into agriculture than in business. Our folks have small/big pieces of land and they go for agriculture as by default.

A normal farmer can earn not more than 15000-20000 from one acre of his land per year (except a few who go for advanced farming etc). Now, if you see the market value of the land, it is more than 15-20 lakhs ( of course depending on area). If Kisan sells his land and utilises this money in business, or even goes for bank deposit, he can earn much more than the current returns which he gets after putting whole of his family into agriculture.

We know, we consider land as our pride and seldom sell it unless there is some compelling reason like govt acquiring or huge debts.

What do you suggest, should they sell it and think of other investments.

PS: pls read post #7 in this thread to know more I am talking about.

No- Not Just because of small area

I Think anil you should be asking that should a Jat start working somewhere else if he has very small land. Not selling it.

Yes if anybody dont have enough land to make a good living he should try to do some thing else. But try to keep his present property Including Land.

As this land always give something and there would not be a expense any time. even if it may give nothing in case he wouldnt do anything as there is no tax on that. So it will be an earning source if he put some efforts here.( 1 kanal bhi bhainsa ka chara toh degee aur ghar allee sambhal kar legee. no need Man Full time on this)

Its just ike you dont Havs 25,00,000 Package job from microsoft leave 6,00,000 package job from Infosys.

And believe me those Jat farmers know these simple things.
We AC sitting guys, thinks we are JAt and kissan and we were in field when we were 16-17 year lads ,knows everything about them is just a Mirag.

Sleep tight and wake up early You have to go on Job on time tomorrow. They are much happier then us.

Kuch hadh tak aapki baat sahi hai Kadyan ji. Lekin aap ne shayad mere posts ko dhyaan se nahi padha... this particular issue of selling is being discussed in context of people who do not have any other source of income and in order to start some other venture they dont have enough resouces. They have small piece of land and that is not giving them enough returns.
