I also feel that it must be a very hard thing for a parent to kill their own child but some points raise some doubts in me.
In most cases it is the daughter who is killed by the males of the family. Could the reason be that many a times, males and females of the family are not that compassionately related. More over generally the people involved are some cousins/relatives (who probably have not even known the girl that well) or young brothers who might be easier to brain wash/provoke about the false sense of honour and are not as mature as the parents. The way I have seen some people talking of killing, I didn't feel that they were full of love for their daughers/sisters/relatives.
The people who even in principle support honour killing are also very much responsible for this practice because it is because of such people that the family feels the presure. The proportion of these supporters is quite large in rural areas.
Also the fact that they feel that they have an option of killing is dangerous. They have to be made to realize that pressure or no pressure, they don't the option of killing. These points might look naive and ridiculous to people here who mostly probably come from nice and educated families but I get these feelings from looking at people in the rural areas.

There is a lot of difference between saying something and actually doing it but i agree that there maybe many who can do it.
Every human have a devil inside oneself, people with strong will power can kill the devil but weaker can not. They hide their weakness behind this psudo bravery.
How come someone kill his own kid whom he brought up day by day, month by month and year by year ?
How come someone can keep his head upright by killing his own kid ?
Isn't it generally done to get their head upright back precisely because most people around them were in favour of killing and will praise their act.
How come they forget the innocent smile of the infant when they do this act ?
Instead of feeling ashamed of these acts people are talking about the bravery and proud by killing their own kids.
This is really shameful and disgusting.
