Dear All,
I am deeply hurt by what Mr. Ajay Singh Chohan has written about his feelings towards Pak Vs Rest of India. Why Col Malik has discussed the issue in great details, I have some questions to ask and some suggestions to offer.
Questions:
1. None of the rivers that flows through Punjab originates with in the geographical boundries of Punjab. If that be so, how come this has become property of Punjab?
2. If it is not the property of Punjab, then, it is either the property of the state from where it originates or the national property. If it is national property then, the Central Government should have the courage to implement the Supreem Court Judgement.
3. Mr. Ajay Chohan is willing to give this water to Pakistani Punjabis, whose fore fathers butchered Indian Punjabis and molested their women during partition. I am not here to aggravate wrong feelings against any one, but that is part of history.
4. The dividing line may be as thin as it is, between Pakistani Punjabis, and Indian Punjabis, but then it is the international border.
5. Fianlly, what is the status of Mr. Chohan to represent the entire Punjabi population.
6. If Mr. Ajay Chohan is an analytical person, then should not he maintain the decorum of this site? We welcome all Jats whether from Punjab, or any other part of the world, whether Sikh or Mona on this site but wish to maintain a decorum for it. The only Jats we don't appreciate on this site are the "Sick" Jats.
7. I am stongly against what happened in Delhi in 84 but, I have not regrets of Indian Government using force to flush out terrorists from the place of worship, be it temple, mosque, Church or Gurudwara. We can't allow our religeous institutions to be used as safe haven by terrorists.
Now some suggestions:
1. Haryana should get its legitimate share of Satluz water. For example if Haryana is 50% of total land area of undivided Punjab, then it should get 50% of Satluz water.
2. To make up this deficiency we should think in terms of linking Chenab, Vyas and Satluz river by an extensive canal system along our Western border. This will not only make up the deficiency of water in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan, but also create series of formidable obstacles against any Pakistani aggression.
3. A nice road work can be developed along these canals. This will facilitate communication during peace and allow lateral movement of armed forces in the event of war.
4. I would say, even the project of linking Ganga with Yamuna shuold be considered to make up the shortage of water in the areas along Yamuna right from Delhi to Agra.
I am deeply hurt by Mr. Chohan's statement that they have more similarity across the border than this side of the border. If that be so, why doesn't he go across and live there. Pakistanis would be too happy to get one more Muhazir.
