Who has told them about National Issues?
Dear Mukesh,
I don't think people vote without thinking? The problem is what they are thinking while voting? Whether or not they know the repercussions of voting to the wrong person/party. Whether or not they know the national and state issues and why they are important over local and caste issues? Here on this vary forum, some of us don’t see beyond the caste to say the least, then why blame the general public.
Mr. Kadian has raised a very valid question, what to do and how to do? I think that we need to take baby steps and progress one by one. The first and foremost thing is to get the younger generation together under one umbrella. (easier said than done) I feel that this can be done to a larger extent if we unite under a small group and project a group leadership. Some one may call it communist way of functioning, but that is OK.
The first baby step is to educate our voters about the national issues and their importance over local issues and caste base voting. Selection of candidates by political parties is another thing that needs to be sorted out. But as Dr. RK has said “who is not a corrupt politician in UP”, we need to bring out some thing fresh and new. Here my recommendation is to bring out the youth. Organization like “Jan Jagriti” may be the answer. Let it be the core group of this organization that formulates the policies for it to become viable political alternatives in the years to come. I know it would alienate some of our members for some of us have our near and dear one in one political party or other. An organization like this once succeeds would definitely put those people out of business. So to expect a smooth sailing would be just a wishful thinking. But as Mr. Samar has said, we need to act rather than discuss. I have earlier supported this move on another thread. Let me ask the members as to how many of them are in favor of “Jan Jagriti” being converted into a political alternative in U.P. Haryana and Rajasthan to start with?
Some one can have a pool here. Let us ask the members who support it? Why they want to support it and who oppose it, their reasons for the same. Let us have an honest discussion.
I really don't know what they are ? but when it comes to election I'm more than sure at present most of the people hardly think to whom they are going to vote..there are very few who think a lot before going to cast their vote keeping the national interests in mind...people follow the heard mentality..they have only few points to think upon like cast, religion and emotional issues...and when these issues come to rule people hardly think from mind..feeling of revenge is omni present in every election which is against the true spirit of democracy....politicians like mayawati know very well that how to play with the sentiments of the voters and because of this strategy they succeed every time... people cast their vote blindly inspite of knowing that he/she is the same person who had betrayed them..they are making the mockery of democracy...
