Wah Re Indian Planning Commision

Dear Jatlanders

Planning commission has filled a revised affidaviet in Supreme Court that a Person living in city can survive happily if he earns Rs 32 daily and Rs 26if he/she lives in village per day.
Planning commision has even given the break up of these Rs 32 and Rs 26 justifing how he/she has to spend to live happily.

Difficult to understand what parameters planning commsion has considered to reach such conclusion to define poverty line.
Can anyone guide us how they define minimum living calories and living wages per day?

Who they are, what they know, what is there background, where they live, what they think, what they eat and how many calories,??

if so then why minimum wages are Rs.259/- par day.the wages must be Rs.32/- in city and Rs.26/- in villages.

Ravindra sir yeh sansad bhawan ki canteen aam logon key liye khol deni chahiye. Fir chahe 25 rupye ho 15 rupye...kuch farak naheen padeyga.

My simple question to the respected Members of Planning Commission who have come to this conclusion.........how much they spend to meet basic necessities (which are absolutely necessary for living) in their own personal life.

What kind of imaginary figures they have given. Now I am confident that they are doing nothing while sitting in the air conditioned offices. They should also be unseated immediately at least govt. have not to spend money for maintenance of their day to day activities, their travel etc.etc.

They always use staff car even for their personal trips, they manage their air travel even for personal reasons, they life in luxury hotels at govt.'s cost so they are not aware what is happening in the outer world???

But u see the tragedy, there is still a huge population live in our great country below this highly imaginary line. If these figure are increased than 70 to 80 % population can come under BPL.

I just do not understand the sympathy for these bureaucrats. The planning commission came up with an unrealistic report and there was an outrage among people but nothing has happened as of now. How can these bureaucrats defend their positions? Why they don't get sacked for non performance? Why public servants do not have "Accountability" ? What is holding back the government to take an action ?

Montek makes U-turn, abandons Rs 32 per day poverty line

And forgot to mention. It is the same story with other departments. They do whatever they want. There is not accountability at all. Have a look at the Indian Railway Department. Every now and then we hear about railway accidents. And a lot of of time it is found that the accident happened due to negligence of staff. But still government does not take any action. This is just a disgrace!

Earning Rs 15 per day? You are not poor!

Sirsa, March 20
Planning Commission Deputy Chairperson Montek Singh Ahluwalia may have drawn flak for his assertion that those spending `26 per day cannot be categorised as below poverty line (BPL), but for the authorities in Sirsa, those earning `15 a day cannot enjoy BPL status.
The authorities have given one last chance to those families in urban areas of Sirsa, whose names have been deleted from BPL lists after the survey conducted in October 2011.
The authorities have said in the notice that the names of families, whose per member average monthly income exceeds `443.21 per month (less than `15 per day), are not eligible for inclusion in BPL lists.
“This is in accordance with the central government notification of 2007 under which BPL lists were prepared,” said Sushil Goyal, an assistant project officer in the District Urban Development Authority (DUDA), Sirsa.
Acting upon the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the Pradeep Kumar vs State of Haryana case, the authorities had ordered a resurvey of BPL families in the five urban towns of Sirsa in October 2011.
The survey conducted by volunteers of the Zila Saaksharta Samiti found 2,682 families enjoying BPL status though their income was above the government norms.
As many as 701 families in Sirsa town, 500 in Dabwali, 494 in Rania, 588 in Ellenabad and 399 in Kalanwali were found ineligible for BPL status they were enjoying.
The authorities invited claims and objections, which were verified by executive officers of the respective municipalities.
Now, having decided to delete these names from BPL lists, the authorities have told the families concerned to represent their case before the city magistrate if they felt any injustice had been done to them.
The authorities, however, clarified that those families, whose average per member income exceeded Rs 443.21 per month would not be eligible to be in BPL lists.

The cut of line for 2004 for Canada is as under, if we take these figures in rupees then in that scenario it should be at least Rs14000 per person in rural area and that too in 2004.
Planning commission is playing with the sentiments of people and none of the political party(spineless people) has strongly condemned it.

In India no one whether Minister or Bureaucart or clerk is accountable for any thing done. If you complaint then you can be accountable......................................lol........
Very good point!! Are these bureaucrats accountable for such misleading reports??

Brother, you know well that neither bureaucrats nor politicians are responsible for any thing the decide/do, but if all responsibility is established, it will fall on some poor clerk or lower level employee, secondly such reports do not become public without the permission of politicians concern, in this case the PM it self, This mr clean is involved in all wrong activities by the Govt/politicians/employees/contractors/organizations/institutions. regards

Like RTI act, an Accountability Act needs to be introduced. That can solve the problem a lot!
