Freinds, I m starting with a question........... does inner beauty takes a back seat when physical beauty spreads its charisma........... ?

Well, in our lives we do come across many a type of persons, but some catch our eyes instantly:) ....... to put up in other words....... we get impressed by some persons inadvertantly owing to the charm of their personality........ and also at times by the confidence they carry on their face....... and also at times after just listening to the melody of their thoughts!! Depends............. but the question I wanna ask is, does inner beauty comes after physical beauty.............PRACTICALLY SPEAKING !! ........... coz I have also seen many a people running whole life after physical beauty !! For them........ inner beauty might also be appreciable but they just cant resist!! So freinds.......... do enlighten me with ur beautiful words:p U may also rate the inner and physical beauty on a scale of 10 !!

:):confused::)

Well Shweta, it depends on time and mood what you prefer. As per my openion goes, physical beauty attracts me first.

My 2 cents

You need to know a person first, directly or indirectly, to understand and appreciate his/her inner beauty.

Therefore ppl. with outer beauty does have an advantage.

Well ... honestly ... i cant resist physical beauty and i bet ..you people also cannot .... but in the end .. inner beauty always wins ... physical beauty without inner beauty stinks:eek: after sometime .... and inner beauty with out physical beauty spreads fragrance:cool: (and which matters most) .... And .. Well if both are present then .... balle balle :D...

Firstly must say shweta you choose a beautiful question .
Then moving on to you point yes physical beauty does count but when it comes to serious work and all it will be sheer hard word that is going to matter . As physical beauty is temporary it can be a medium of instant captivation but it is not of great help in long run.

Oh Thanx Mamta........ well ya it might be that physical beauty catches eyes & may not count when it comes to serious work....... but still at times I do have noticed people running after that blindly........ i mean they just cant resist! ........and tend to overlook atleast some negative aspects too......... as they get a sort of fascinated..............dont know why but it happens many a times :confused:

Not for you, but for me, it does! and well both have their own advantage and draw backs. So i think its better to start with something beautiful; is not it!!!

Not for you, but for me, it does! I love roses, not thorns, and then I try to find out which smells better.

Oh........ I didnt knew thorns too r smelled!! Anyways....... everyone loves roses & not thorns......... coz thorns may give pain....... but inner beauty is not a thorn!! & neither physical beauty can be compared to a rose!! However u have compared........ so i wld like to say one thing.......... see physical beauty appeals to all & its quite natural !! but inner beauty........ is not so instantly noticeable but is a very very important thing!! ........ I dont know what to call a terrific looking mom who pays a damn to how her children r needing her beyond wat she can contribute from her looks!!!!! ........... or a wife whose visit to a parlour or may be on a hunt in a new cosmetic store is far more important than her husband's headache may be!! .......... so in that case will u like to appreciate her gorgeous looks......... will u love the smell of the situation ??

ali haider ka gaana hai ....gorre rang ka jamana kabhi hoga na purana tera to rang gora hai.
mere ek cousin brother ke liye ladkia dhund rahe the aur vo darzno ladkia sirf shakal surat ke karan reject kar chuka tha.oski jid thi ki vo kisi bala ki khubsurat ladki se hi shadi karega.mane ose university bhi bulaya aur itni ladkio se milaya ose ek bhi ladki nahi jachhi.tab ek din mane gusse me osse poocha ki jyada shakal ke picche pada hai koi bure nature ki palle pad gayi to.osne juwab diya ki kya guarantee hai ki jo khubsurat nahi hogi vo nature ki acchi hogi .khoobsrat hoke burre nature ki hui to kam se kam ek tasalli to hogi ki khoobsurat to hai.
finally osko oske pasand ki ladki mil hi gayi aur vo bala ki khubsurat bhi hai aur nature bhi bahut accha hai.

As i think and experienced in my life....physical beauty always attract every person strongly. But, after knowing somone, inner beauty matters much more and physical beauty becomes secondary. I am personally feel this in my life as unknown person wants to talk to me just because of beauty, but who knows me well, say that you have a good nature...and after that they add abt beauty. So, i think beauty attracts the eyes, but a good heart always appeals.

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]eeee inner beauty is more easily seen in a beautiful person, since we'll say 'wow, he/she is so pretty and beautiful". But, the unattractive persons inner beauty will not be seen as this divine combination, but something that compensates for the bad looks, or they will be seen as just a nice person. Who has more value in the courtroom the beauty with a beautiful spirit of the ugly guy with a kind heart? Who will you remember more? Who will you envy or want to marry? All societies revere outer beauty, there is no denying the difference between keeping a fern on your table or a bouquet of flowers. Although they both represent the sublime presence of nature. So there you have it folks the goddess wins again, but there is no substitute for humility. Therefore Id prefer the soul who is not taken by their own beauty, be they a beauty or not. The most divine thing is a whole and honest human being. Everyone has their faults and good reasons for not being so good.......

Sam.

Well Ritu ji ......... sach to yehi hai ki kuch log khoobsoorti ke saath compromise nahi karna chahte shaadi ke case me aur mil bi jaati hai unko aisi ladkiya ya ladke jo bi ho aur wo ache bi ho sakte hai nature ke ................ par wo darzno "Rejected" ladkiya jab "na" sunti hai........ to shayad unka dil (jo ki khoobsurat ya badsoorat ke bhed ko nahi maanta.......) kehta hai ki tum kaisi bi sahi nature wagerah me......... par bhagwan ne tumko jaisa shakal soorat me banaya hai, usme tumhara haath na sahi, par ye "na" ka dansh tumko sehna hoga .............. tumhari soorat nahi pasand aayi hai .......... u r rejected:mad: ...............

Rightly said Samiksha............ physical beauty always comes first coz its the nature's decision I suppose......... whenever we meet or see someone, we cant form an opinion on his or her inner self......... but the looks of course are always standing at the first seat ! ........... but thing is that the heart of all persons is full of similar feelings............ an ugly person too longs for love........appreciation............ concern etc.......... just as any other human being feels!! & moreover he is not at any fault too........... he cant help out the looks he has got ......... not being attractive is no fault though........... but still the burden of an inherent longing to be loved or cared the same way as any other good looking person is being loved .......... is ever present & many a time it hurts when this longing or desire is crumpled by the feet of harsh reality, which is always inclined towards beauty .............. this is life............. may be!!

I suppose every person with a good taste is appealed by beauty... be it the sublime beauty of a sun-set, the abstract images of art, the cold austere beauty of mathematics, the breath-taking brilliance of a starry sky, the acoustic appeal of a symphony, and perhaps the most well-appreciated, the charming face of a beautiful human.

The debate remains... is beauty essentially subjective or objective? Perhaps if it is objective, like the rules of mathematics, and can only be recognized through dedication and focus. To a certain extent, appreciating beauty requires the building of taste. But standards of beauty are also universal, ignoring minor deviations. Most of the people are attracted by symmetrical forms and faces... symmetry was essential to Greek aesthetics, and was of such importance that they refused to consider the celestial orbits of any shape other than the circle, because it is the most symmetrical geometrical figure.

I became aware of the connection of biological evolution and aesthetics after reading Will Durant. Surely, it appears a simple hypothesis that aesthetic appreciation developed in us due to its importance and vitality in bringing the male and female together, and hence ensuring the continuation of the species. Many animals especially birds show aesthetic standards, and certain species are well known for the artistic decoration of their nests. Perhaps our appreciation of music began in the 'love-calls', the sounds made by birds and animals to call their mates. And every mature poet is aware of the relationship between Nature and Love, something which has been the subject of much poems. And Russell also mentions in his autobiography the connection between Love and Nature in his experience. Perhaps it was initally the sexual instinct that led to aesthetic development, and which ultimately flooded other areas of our sensation, and led to the appreciation of things as remote from sexuality as Architecture.

Appreciation of beauty is meant to be objective, in the sense that it is not governed by any sort of motive of personal gain. I see Rafael's The School of Athens, and its beauty strikes me and fills my existence. I gain nothing material by it... but a psychological influence which can only be understood by those who have experienced it. A clear view of the sky is enough to cheer up my mood and comtemplate over its scintillating beauty. Beauty in gender, i believe, too will be better appreciated if it is divorced from any other desire, such as that of possession. A beautiful face is a masterpiece of nature in itself. The aesthetic appreciation should not be vilified by the motive of possession.

And even the gloomy, surreal Franz Kafka says: "Anybody who preserves the ability to recognize beauty will never get old." And how true he says. If you are able to understand beauty, you will find a pleasure and satisfaction unknown to you before.

And beauty is only well-appreciated when it influences you in some way, when it becomes a part of your existence, and you feel its fragrance in your life. I shall end with an apt quote of Voltaire: “It is not sufficient to see and to know the beauty of a work. We must feel and be affected by it.”

Sam.

Well after going through almost all the posts on this topic, I see two things coming out :
1. Almost everyone thinks that physical beauty attracts and is the first cause of attraction in most of the cases.
2. Inner beauty is vital i.e. if inner beauty is not there then the attraction towards physical beauty can not continue.
but what is fail to understand is that why are we discussing this, I mean everybody seems to agree with the other, then where is the fight?:D

U need fight :confused: oh......... well, disscussion means expression of thoughts & not neccessarily fight! ......... ok then if u wish u may tell can u compromise with looks if u tend to feel inclined towards a beautiful heart........ what u will choose amongst good looks but not so good nature & not so good looks but a pleasing nature ??.......... this is the fight .......... what is correct & to what extent such compromise can be made practically!

Bhalaa bura na koi roop rang se kehlata hai
Darshti bhed sab gun dosh dikhlata hai
Koi kamal ki kalli dekha hai kichhadd me
Kisi ko chand me bhi daag nazar aata hai
