Western Uttar Pradesh

---->Found this piece of article on a blog for the people interested in Western UP politics.

What does this mean in terms of UP’s regional politics? In the Vidhan Sabha elections, the biggest chunk of Mayawati’s vote came from western UP, the home of the vocal Jats but also of militant Jatavs (untouchables) and outspoken Muslims. With the Muslims already batting for her and voting along with Jatavs, the unity of the upper castes and Jats has no meaning. If anything, farmer leader Mahendra Singh Tikait’s anti-Dalit statements in a public rally, have consolidating the lower castes against the Jats. Anyone who consorts with the Jats has a snowflake’s chance in hell of getting the Dalit vote now.

True, no by-election was held in western UP this time. But Jats are anti-Congress by temperament and the BJP needed Tikait’s call for caste assertion at this point like a hole in the head. Because while Jat consolidation is a political blessing, its backlash represents the consolidation of anti-Jat forces, a development that can only bolster Mayawati’s chances.

Besides, so long as Ajit Singh was in alliance with the BJP, it was he who mopped up the Jat vote for it. Now he’s out and the BJP is neither getting the Jat vote in western UP nor the anti-Jat vote.

What this points to is obvious: in the Lok Sabha election, while the BSP and SP will fight for number one and two place, the Congress and BJP will vie for number three and four, a cheerless prospect from the point of view of government formation after the next Lok Sabha elections.

There is another factor that has begun to have a role in UP: personality factor. Today, Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav have pledged to give their all to UP. But can you think of a single person in the Congress or BJP who has said: “I am dismayed at the way UP is being governed and I’m going to make UP my karmabhumi (centre). I don’t want a role in central politics, I’m renouncing that and am going to focus on making UP a better place to live in?”

Not one. Not Rahul Gandhi, not Murli Manohar Joshi, not LK Advani. So the UP vote naturally thinks, “Well, if we’re not good enough for you, then you’re not good enough for us”. And with 40 Lok Sabha seats out of 80 (or thereabouts) under her belt, it is Mayawati who will be among those to decide who President Pratibha Patil swears in as Prime Minister of India

What about Harit Pardesh movement ???

Is there any progress on this front ?? If I am not wrong Mayavati too promised this ?

Also ,What is the current equation between Tikait and Ajit Singh ?

How many seats are there in western UP and how many can be won by Jat candidates?

No Option

Well, there are a lot of comments in favour of Ajit Singh and a lot against him in the context of Western UP politics. What Jats want Ajit Singh to do. I think by going with Mayawati he has not done anything wrong. There is simply no other option and we should not forget the difference between a Jat leader and a politician. He may be wrong as a Jat but he is every bit right as a politician.

If some people do not like Ajit Singh, then should people of baghpat choose a non-jat to represent them. That will be catastrophe. We debate here not about good people or bad people or efficient people. We debate here about Jat people first and there is no other jat leader currently in western UP who is more electable or most importantly WINNABLE than Ajit Singh.

Ajit Singh is always accused of changing parties.I think changing parties( taking into account the political compulsions) is thousand times better than being a criminal politician. Atleast he does not have dozens of cases pending against him.

If people of Western UP has been electing him for the last 20 years, then there must be some reason for it. Even, if he is getting elected just because he is son of Ch. Charan Singh, there is no harm in it.Trust me, it is still much better than having a non jat representing a jat stronghold.

cheers.

Dinesh bhai
aapki post ko padh kar sirf ek Ghalib ka sher hi khayal mein aata hai

"Dil bahlane ko Ghalib.. ye khayaal acha hai"

Vikas Bhai,

Kam se kam khyal hi sahi. Dil to bahal jayega.

Everything is right. Ajit Singh is inefficient. He does not help those who elect him. He has wasted all what Ch. Charan Singh created. BUT what is the other option. I would be glad to support any other WINNABLE jat leader from the area.

cheers

Hello all
I read all the post regarding the Ch Ajit singh and felt sad as none of you understand the real nature of politics, changing political scenario of the Indian politics and its social realities. In fact, some of you look highly offensive against him. First of all, I am not a great admirer of Ajit Singh's politics as I am affiliated to the Congress partry. However, I feel always sad about his bias criticism. I will begin from the Mulayam Vs Ajit Singh election for the CM post of UP. I would like to ask what the falt of Ajit Singh was if people like Harendra Malik, Kiranpal, the great and credible Jats betray him and stood with Mulayam. As far as comparison with Ch. Charan Sigh Ji, off course he was more mature and visionary politician however, political scenario of that time give him a good chance to form a OBC block. In future, the cast politics started by Ch. Charan Singh Ji was fully blossom and left no scope for Ajit Singh to make any firm vote bank.
Come to the Ajit Singh So called opportunism, my dear friends it is a well known fact that common people always go with the power. If he will not try to be in the power then people will lose faith in him and will search another option to fulfill their need. Furthermore, tell me who is not opportunist Mulayam who recently join hand with congress, Mayavati with BJP, SP, Third Front, CPM with RSS in 1942 and 1987, SP, Congress, BSP, Ram villas with NDA, UPA, and so on. Friends the problem with our JATs is that we always want to be in ideal world and want to follow ideal path. I also would like mention that in Western UP there is know single constituency which result Jats alone can decide. At the same, other will not join them as they are the main oppressor there. So my dear friends please try to understand the ground reality and obligation of Ajit Singh and stop yours bias criticism as in politics the word "opportunism" does not carry much weight rather it called a rational decision. thanks
