what about intercaste marriage?

Lifecycle need changes, we were ploughing fields with Ballon ki jodi now mostly depending on tractors. If same rule ( change) apllies in our lives what's harm? It is up to individual to decide his / her life, be it with in cast or intercast.

devion aur sajjano

it will be better to find a match within ur caste having all quality as require or desired by individual. Intercaste marriages have much more chances of separation because intercaste marriages are love marriage which turns into hate after few years and the results in failure. reason behind failures are know to everybody

This thread has managed to amaze me again. And sadly not on the subject of intercaste marriage but that it has actually brought out the double standards of the community on the marriage rules for its sons (can marry anyone and be acceptable) and daughters (bear the brunt of a tradition they never probably had a say in making).

So let me just focus on the thing that continues to rankle me about my community and it is the crux of the matter when it comes to this forum. It reminds me of Navin’s post on the Gandhis and the illiterate village masses. Let me ask all the fathers here how they would like to see their daughters in the changing times:

Thinking beings?

Or

Following beings?

Thinking beings understand all point of views, their good and bad aspects and then make decisions, have the capability of assessing people for what they are, truly understand people around them, and are mature enough to handle their lives properly and in a balanced way…

And just in case you want them to be following beings, then I’m sorry to say but you’re not protecting them as you think you are, you’re just making them hostage to destiny and everybody else, examples are abound, see around you, you’ll have atleast one following one making life miserable for themselves and for others by not being able to see whats in her and her family’s best interest…..

P.S: I’m totally (read TOTALLY) in favour of people marrying within the community. I think it’s a great system of getting everyone hooked and keeping things nice and clear cut. That’s fine, no problems with that. But why should this tradition dominate every other aspect related to marrying a person like love for the person, marital bliss, harmony, happiness, relationships and most important personal choice. The community has to go beyond this medieval thinking about their daughters.

Yeah the reason is really historical !!

Saw some old tapes from the 1930's where they wanted to breed only with their own kind to keep things pure. The location was Hitler's Nazi Germany.

Reason is historical....... take a dip in history, hopefully u will get something desirable......

High time we Hindus get rid of castes else they are doomed in long run. We waste lots of our energy in proving our supermacy which hardly exists if we go by our place in present day society. Let marriage be an affair between the girl and the boy. As parents we have our right to advise our kids, but have no right to force our views. If my daughters go for a boy outside caste who is well educated and well placed in society, why should I oppose ? There are good and bad people in all castes.

It has happened just yesterday only in Faridabad where parents of Jat girl killed her husband who was a Brahman.

And what is happening in Bhopal and other places related to that incident in Bhopal where a Muslim Boy married a Hindu(sindhi) girl.

Sateypal

Who knows the inside facts? I heard a different story which says the Jat girl was harassed and sent back to the family.

The boy himself is Hindu now converted from Islam before marriage his name is Umesh now. But still some so called the god of Hinduism don't accept him.

yaar why are you gys making a life more difficult.....let everybody choose his own path.......

Totally with you on this... chill people.....

Sorry Priti If these are your thinking view ,I am happy with my exclusionary views with some scope for our parents let me re-post my earlier post in this regard .

The basic question was/ is ,what is right Intercast or intracast

Now the point was that since we owe a great to our parents who sacrifice a lot for us we as a human being has a duty to look for their happiness and their prestige also.

Some one who say that it is only me who has the sole right to decide whom to marry or not is basically a selfish and ungrateful person as he would have not been what he is today, had their parents not sacrificed a lot for him.

It is OK the parents may keep quite or weep afterwards but in some corner of their heart they will have a deep sorrow.

My point was, we should not let them face any sorrow or humiliation ,it is not only our duty but it is the right thing to do also.

Now For a person who has gone with the locha or what ever it is and than committed to a lady ignoring his parents than it is the most cowardice to run away from that loche effect or love later saying what my society will say this or that.

If committed one must stand for his /her love against the whole world that is like a real JAT .

And an intracast marriage is certainly more successful than intercast marriage I need not to explain reasons for this as most of us are aware of those.

I think there is no debate on one point that intracast marriage is more sucessful than intercast and facts are well known to elders who are not enemies of their childern. If parents are happy and taken in to confidence than there is no harm but to treat their advice as **** and go with your lochae is really dispicable.

When caught in such a situation one always knows that her parents izzat is on stakes ,second is pride in his own jat identity ,But if one has utter disdain for both than what can said. Better marry where you want and leave your parents alone.

No where have I said that dont care about your parents view. Please read what I have written carefully throughout this thread before implying anything...parents are very, i repeat, very important people in one's life...but I do not see any relationship between dissappointing your parents and having your personal choice....unless your parents totally want you under their control...normally, in my view most parents would like their children to have a mind of their own rather than be led by irrational thinking and dogmatic impositions...and any sensible child would take parental advice into account......

P.S: I dont understand how choosing a life partner threatens one's parent's izzat?? Maybe you're talking about the illiterate mass who have nothing better to aspire to than treat their female lot as cattle and as their property...but here on jatland we are not one of those...

Please read Chachnama the story of marriage of a Jat king Sahasi and his brahman queen Suhandhi ,The single intercast marriage is the turning point of jat history from their glorious to worst days .Story is lengthy and not suitable in this section.

May be I misunderstood your totally with you comment on quote which was put in bold letter.

Anyway if you value your parents advice than there is no conflict as they are your best well wisher .

Regarding choosing partner just tell me is there any parent these days who does not ask his daughter whether she likes the boy or not .Have you heard from any of your friend that she was not even asked how the boy was ? In other case if you want to go for inter cast than people certainly raise eyebrows which your parents have to face.

Anyway jis ko jo karna hai karo ,people have different values ,different ideologies .

I’m with you on this one.

What an irony, nothing but the last name is critical for being a Jat.
Has this thought ever crossed a "Jat" mind that perhaps a Jat woman marrying a non-jat might be able to inculcate more Jat values in her “half”(if you allow) Jat son/daughter as compared to the one marrying within the community?

Mind dissecting it more at the microlevel? Wots the difference between an offspring of a Jat man with a non-Jat woman (which is permitted and acceptable! ) AND a Jat woman with a non-Jat man, if for a moment we forget that it’s a patriarch society and the man’s name is inherited? Both are a mix (actually better scientifically) and what matters is how strong and/ or true a Jat, one of the Jat parent is so that he/she can instill those values in him/her. Rest is insignificant.

Good to know people understand that there can be Jat values too.

When any one marries outside ,certainly these values are to be halved Now intelligent people may advocate a judicious mix of various values and we can see some ready mix formulae like daughter of a jat and khatri married to a brahman to get the desired package of values.
