Roj
Roj (रोज)/ Rohaj (रोहज)[1][2] Roz (रोज) Rojh (रोझ) Rojha (रोझा)[3] Roja (रोज) Rojadia (रोजड़िया) Rojiya (रोजिया) Rose (रोज)[4] is Gotra of Jats living in Rajasthan; Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, New Delhi and Maharashtra. It is a branch of Chauhans.
Origin
- They are said to be descendants of Nagavanshi mahapurusha Rajju (रज्जु). [5][6]
- कुछ गोत्रों का प्रचलन पशु, पक्षियों के नाम पर हुआ है. नीलगाय से रोज जाट गोत्र प्रचलित होना माना जाता है. [7]

History
According to the historical records of Roja gotra Rao Mutia Kamas of Dahiya Kshatriya clan came from Kannauj in samvat 905 and constructed a fort in Nagaur city in Rajasthan. Lakhan Rao, Ballu Rao, Joon Rao and Pipa Rao ruled here for about 200 years. Rao Pipaji married with Deyoo Jakhar the daughter of Maihan Raja. Their sons were Sahajarao, Rajdeo, Mandeo, and Gangdeo. The descendants of Sahajarao were known as Ranwa, those of Rajdeo were known as Roja. The descendants of Mandeo were known as Mandiwal and those of Gangdeo were known as Gugal Jats.
In Mahavansa
Mahavansa/Chapter 2 mentions the genealogy of Buddha starting from Mahasammata, who was the first monarch of the world according to Buddhist tradition. Roja and Vararoja are mentioned as Kings in this genealogy.

रोज गोत्र का इतिहास
डॉ पेमाराम लिखते हैं कि रोज गोत्र के जाटों का प्रवाह बीकानेर की ओर से मारवाड़ की तरफ है. रोजास (बीकानेर) से लेकर छाजोली (नागौर) तक रोज गोत्र के जाटों का राज था.
- 855 ई. में रोहितास नाम के सरदार ने रोजास नामक गाँव को आबाद किया था.
- रोहितास के ही वंशज छाजूजी ने छाजोली गाँव बसाया था जो नागौर परगने में है.
- छाजूजी के पोत्र चावड जी ने कठोती गाँव आबाद किया था. इनके वंशज छाजोली, कचरास, सांडिला, खाटू, खूनखुना आदि में आबाद हैं. जब राठोड इस इलाके में आये तो इनकी प्रभुता समाप्त हो गयी. (डॉ पेमाराम, राजस्थान के जाटों का इतिहास,2010, पृ.22)
