Dnt know anything about creativity in movies but surely this thread on jatland is inspiratory enough to established and upcoming 'creative souls' of world.S.Spielberg, where are you? Script is waiting..:D

Well it is a matter of choice, your circumstances and mood when it comes to choosing your favourite movie........but if you like watching movies then you got to watch likes of citizen kane, cassablanca, gone with the wind, lawrence of arabia, raging bull

....there are other great ones too but i guess u guys might not have seen the aforementioned. ....also try watching famous works of hitchcock(some of his movies between 1940-70 were unbelievably good, like north by northwest, psycho etc),martin scorsese(if you like watching gangster, urban crime sagas etc) and ofcourse spielberg(you might have seen his latest work but check out his old stuff-absolutely brilliant)......

having written all that..i would say godfather 1 & 2 , shawshank redemp.,goodfellas, forest gump, schindler's list,"scent of a woman", raging bull, scarface(pardon the 'f' word) and those mentioned above would top up my list of all time favourites.........

oh yes and i forgot to mention vetigo, pulp fiction, the good the bad and the ugly and spielberg's gems like one flew over cuckoo's nest, raiders of the lost ark and munich....all of them will stir you up.....must watch movies i would say if not favourites

Hey Akshay, welcome to the thread.
All the ones you mentioned are classics and most would agree that they're great movies and one can probably watch them many times over (especially the guys, pulp fiction and all). One of these, 'flew over cuckoo's nest', i liked it the first time I watched it (maybe i was getting seriously bored) but wouldn't waste time again even if somebody pays me to watch it! I love Jack Nicholson and he's really good in it but its a excruciatingly slow movie.

A movie I recently watched 'Juno', thought it was great. Its a pretty hyped movie with the Oscars recognizing it and stuff but its worth all the hype. Very simple, very truthful, close to reality movie and it deals with a tough subject with such a light touch...makes one feel good. Whoever made it has done a great job and i think i heard that it was the director's first movie, not toally sure though...totally watchable.

Not just inspired Raj, many of the scenes are exact copies, but i agree that its a different 'army' movie and deals with a usually ignored subject matter....I think Rahul Bose is much better in roles where he doesn't have to portray a hyper-party type character, so i didn't like him in the beginning of the movie but got better as it progressed...the movie would have been much better had they made the characters more subtle in their behaviour...

I liked the movie too. However, it could have been a lot better. The court
scenes needed to be handled a lot better. The scene where the Brig was in
the stand was poorly done. The Brig pretty much couldn't stop himself
from talking even without much prodding.

Rahul Bose and KK Menon are fine actors and they were a treat to watch.

Should also watch the Holloywood one that this is inspired from...A few
Good Men....Jack Nicholson is pretty impressive...

Check out this scene:

Outsourcing

I wont call OUTSOURCING as a crative movie but i think it is a must see as it gives a true picture of the outsourcing culture...
check the movie out

I am not sure how many of the many movies mentioned in this thread are really creative. The storyline of many of them is so common. I think people are just naming their favourite movies or simply the movies they watched and liked. But where is the creative work...not all are.

"50 first dates" for example was not that a great movie but the idea was creative. I liked its idea but I did not like the movie.

Thanks,
Sumit
P.S.: I am not recommending the movie here.

Rock on!...

Rock On! ... yeah, this is the name of Farhan Akhtar's latest flick !!
Movie looks quite promising featuring 4 Rock Star musicians ... dont have much info for the time being but am pretty excited for the very movie; music is rocking, energy is oddling ... sounds rocking to me!! ;);)

But, at the same time am quite annoyed with Mr Farhan as he used my copy right, 'Rock On!' signature without my permission so certainly he breached the copy right law, so am planing to sue him!! ... am quite serious about it! :p;):p

nyways, u just take a snick pic of the movie : http://specials.rediff.com/movies/2008/jun/25video7.htm

Rock on
