Can WORDS express our feelings?

dkumars said:
Mr Brahm caught my mind and have already expressed what he thinks. Same is my opinion.

I never use such words here on JL because its really insult to such words if u write rather than speaking. These words look good when u speak with passion and feelings. I use such words many a times in my day to day life even being a professional where ppl are supposed to behave more professionally. I infact use these slangs for showing my anger as well as for fun. I just take care where and for whom I am using such words. I dont find wrong using these words but just to take care who is the target crowd.

Well, someone asked abt school ki which school teache that ... hmmm.... there are few things for which our society and friend circle are our schools. There are many more other things also which i do not want to mention. But we do have schools for that which are unregistered and unknown but they exist.

For using such words neither I am proud nor I feel guilt. Its ok with me. No regrets so far.

I guess the guys who are trying to be saint here also use such words. Hardly u will find guys who don't use this foul language and that too among jat guys ... Dunno y but they work a lot for their false image and are afraid of accepting the truth. Sala(Another foul word expressing my anger) jo bhi achha hai woh sab karte hai aur jo bhi bura hai uske liye preach karte ghumte hai. Updesh dene ki aadat pad gayi hai ... harr cheez mein ... mein kyu peeche rahun. Sab bhashan de rahe hai mein bhi dunga... chahe apni baat-cheet mein koi kyu na kissi ki maa behen ko ghaseent kar le aaye har jagah kounsa koi kissi ko ghar jaa kar dekhne wala hai .. par nahi ek gautam budh woh tha aur ek hum hai yaha ke... huhhhh

this is a perfect straightforward reply !!! :)

Brahm....i still remember your "ENTRY" with such a nice WORD, here my question to Moderators....the word for which Brahm got banned and got some infraction also, was that the ONLY word in your list of words considered SLANG? Or other members have been given infraction too?

Brahm how powerfully one like to express his mind? Is this the best way to express? Are these words taught in school/colleges? If yes, i wish to know which school/college have you completed your education from? Suppose you are in middle of a discussion or argument with family members and your words dont seem to be powerful to convince the rest of the family....will you use maa ki aankh/ maadar jaat....when your mother/sister/daughter/niece are around? I'm asking this just to pacify my curiosity. It's seen that girls are no exception in using slangs, but what the joy of using profanity?
the underlines in yr abv post compel me to put forth few clarifications for you to take note of: i was n’vr banned or got any infractions on the usage of tht word or any swearing word, neither did i ever justify the usage of tht word. however, being new to JL, i didn’t had the grasp of JL decorum nd i gracefully accepted the judgement of mr. sitaram jhakhar... you too also reciprocated the same (more or less) in one of yr posts… http://www.jatland.com/forums/showpost.php?p=170827&postcount=21 the hullabaloo tht followed was not on the usage of tht word, instead it was on the deletion of the thread on the pretext tht it wasn’t a JAT joke, cos JAT’s are not halwai’s. the only time i got banned was for other reason, nd tht decision too was revoked by lifting my ban well before its expiry. the ban was imposed on me erroneously in the fit of anger by one of the mods, who eventually resigned. well tht’s history now.

coming to the main course of the menu… :D i knew for sure tht my above post will have some serious repercussions. honestly speaking i knew as to what was stored up for me after my 1st post. yr 1st para is addressed to mods… let’s see if they can reply to you… m also too eager to hear from them.

sunita, it seems tht you got crossed in two different extremities on the subject, one is abt advocacy i.e. slangs/swear words – “gud or bad”, wch dev sir have expressed very explicitly in his posts. other is the prevalence of profanity. my post, however most predominately dwelled on the latter issue. you know abt it, i know abt it, youngsters know abt it nd the generation next will know abt it… IT IS A REALITY. if you had gone through some of my posts, you will get fair enuff idea as to how powerfully i’m able to express my thots without using any swear words/slangs. now before i start my reply answer, please have a look at the initial lines in my post when i say:
“personally i'm not into swearing words nd seldom use such kind of words especially while i'm expressing myself in writing... guess i might have used them rarely on 1 or 2 occasions in my app. 700 posts on JL”
NOW

1. the title of my post says : “i dont mind profanity/slangs/swear words !” <<< pls. note this !!! it nowhere implies tht I’m into it.
2. i never advocated that they shud be used. hope that clarifies your strongest discontent. (further on this in pt. 3)
3. NO, this is not the best way to express, neither is it taught in the schools. but, our youngsters who are very quick learners :D are very much into it. at the same time it cannot be overruled tht its efficacy and usage at right situations (<<< pls. note the underline) gets so many things moving right. no further elaboration on this, cos rest is summarized perfectly by mr. RSpaweria when he says…

I have to make people understand and for that I can use the language they understand.

BOTTOM LINE: you should know what are you talking and where are you talking and to whom you are talking. too nice to fool is not good”
4. wud you use same kind of words in the presence of yr near and dear ones?... very obviously NOT… guess this is answered above by me as well as by mr. RSP.

5. now comes my school: i did my schooling from “the mothers international school” sri aurobindo marg, new delhi - 110 016 (kg to 12th)… was among top 1% of successful candidates in ungrezi (core) class XII all India CBSE examinations. if you have any idea, this school is arguably best or one of the best when it comes to moral, ethical and spiritual upbringing. college : hansraj college – ungrezi (hons). left, after topping my 1st year exams, for pursuing engineering… m now n “instrumentation & control” engr… gud for me, otherwise I wud hav been banging my head in Indian media... guess, i'm better off at JATland stimulating my grey cells. :D

… tht was a bit personal, now you tell me honestly how many times you have used the word “sh*t in yr spoken language? if not tht word, then how many times have you used the word “crap” in yr spoken language? (it may be noted tht the word “crap” is also a slang nd the uses of “crap” are mostly a subset of the uses of "sh*t.") we all know, this is not the right word. the fact remains – it is used extensively, so is true with other swear words/slangs… nd this is precisely what I wanted to convey. So my argument was/is tht there are so many swear words/slangs wch are a part of our everyday conversation. they are adopted by every TDH+C <<< thts tom, dick nd harry with charlie… :D and hence are very much a part nd parcel of our life.
gud or bad… its yr take !
take offense or ignore… its yr take !
however, the fact remains - U CANNOT CHANGE THE WORLD. hope tht clarifies.

pls don’t assume for allaha’s sake :D tht the profanity, i’ve talked about is applicable to me… or for tht matter it implies tht i’m into swearing words nd slangs every now nd then. i just stressed on its importance nd on its extraordinary emotional power plus the linguistic flexibility it affords, very precisely quoting examples for you to comprehend easily. as reciprocated previously wch goes w/o mentioning tht - i don’t mind it and in my closed circle (<<< pls. note the underline) where i might be using it as well. this to me is acceptable, as long as i don’t also start acting like them nd bring that in my daily talk... thts my individual take, wch in my opinion can also be true with majority of populace, whether they confess this or not, is a different matter altogether. (well all including piyush meel, RSP, anil, nishant, DK have already confessed)<<< this may please be noted.

there are few aspects of profanity wch i cannot explain, cos you being on the other side of the gender. :o for rest, i guess i’ve said enuff on the subject nd have clarified my perception. rest, the onus lies on those who are into using these words on this portal… i guess they owe a better explanation than me. even on the current hot thread, i n’vr expressed my frustration by using those kind of words, instead i used a nice copied smiley from jattland wch was appreciated by dev sir as well.

p.s. 1: take my post in general nd broader perspective… see the reality that exists.
p.s. 2: :):):)
p.s. 3: also chk my nxt post addressed to anil… hav a grip on what I hav to say nd pls. for allaha’s sake (the god of peace) :D don’t draw unwanted conclusions.

Warning!

Folks,
Unless you want a ban, stop using abusive language here! Even with ** in the middle, there is no excuse for such nonsense! Whatever you want to communicate, you can say without using expletives! :thappad

We are not going to go after previous posts but the next one who is found using such words will be dealt with strictly.
-Satyeshwar

I beg to differ !

It is nothing but insane to say that , these swear words add to anything.

Even you examples of adding a tinge in the movies is lame to me , i mean i do not believe that the plot would not have veen successful without those so called "bujj" words of yours.

In my stay here at JL and even otherwise on the online world , I have never used these words ( at least to the best of my memory) , yes i have got agitated a few time sbut still managed to hold on!

The use of slangs / swears reflect lack of communication/writing skills for sure. I mean there are N ways to reflect what exactly you feel.

I am not claiming i never use these words , but the audience is my very close friends! I can never imagine myself using thse kind of words socially! Never ever......

i wonder, as to why you got to beg someone while putting forth yr points. even if you differ, you don’t have to beg for it. :D:)

anyways, thts yr take on the subject, mine is different for sure. you might be an exception… i’m not. i’m not a stereotype, copy perfect mr. nice guy nd m glad I’m not, nd wud n’vr like to be. i’m a common man nd speak the mind of a common man’s psyche tht surrounds me. while doing so I ensure, i’m strt. forward nd don’t mince my words. i also carry an open nd adaptive mind, wch at times can be highly irascible nd emotional cos it cares for every soul tht exists on this planet EARTH. at the same time, pls don’t forget tht this mind carries the latest multi layered, dual core processor frm intel inc. :D wch agn is backed nd powered by another quadruple core stand by processor tht operates in conjunction with the main processor simultaneously. :D for sure i’m a part of the crowd nd enjoy taking pride by being amongst them. at the same time, i’ve barriers wch i can n’vr transcend cos many times i’m a creature of circumstances. having said so, i guess i feel the same way the majority does, if not then may be i’m terribly mistaken.

in my short tryst with destiny, i’ve read the psyche of ppl belonging to different groups, cultures, ethnicities nd communities. i got a chance to stay among biharis, UP men, gujaratis, sindhis, marwaris, punjabi’s nd off course jats. internationally, i’ve dealt vry closely with britishers, umricans, south african goras of various origin… be it frm deutschland, germany or a norwegian nd the local blacks of various groups, tribes nd ethnicities. i’ve also dealt with colored ppl of cape town – a rare blend of different species of homo-sapiens, a gora among them always a frontrunner who mingled with every female of different ethnicity. everyone have adopted these slangs/swear words in the best way they can nd in accordance to maximum permissible capacity… 23kg + 7kg per person. :D

i don’t think the usage of slangs/swear words anywhere implies tht you are somewhere lacking in yr communication or writing skills. few of the folks, if not all, who hav used those slangs on the current hot thread have excellent communication nd writing skills. i out rightly nd very strongly reject your ratiocination, if at all it carries any logic. ;) for rest, pls go thru my 1st post agn nd the one above… have a feel of it as to what i hav to say. :)

the usage of word “maderjath” in the movie “gangajal” very nicely depicts the culture tht prevails in tht part of india nd it’s popular acceptance among the locals when in fit of anger/outrage. remember the song “bidi jalai-le jigar se piya” written by gulzaar. now this song nd its picturization from the movie “omkara”, if i go by your logic, seem to be a vry vulgar one. but to me it’s a very nice catch of the feel by gulzar of the local dialect nd everything it depicts nd conveys… rightly hit at the psyche of biharis nd ppl of UP.

man, try catch the essence… touch the base. the ground zero exists on terra-ferma, not on cloud nine. ;) don’t take an argument just for the heck of it. i also n’vr use such words socially, tht includes this portal as well. my 700 odd posts are testimony to my assertion. the fact, however remains tht i don’t mind them, cos they have become part nd parcel of our everyday life. although socially speaking i condemn them out rightly, but again it is “situation specific”. just to quote you another example – i don’t mind the outburst of members on the thread “new face of terror” it doesn’t matter, to me at least, whatever language they have used to express their discontent or frustration. i appreciate satyeshwar’s post when he accepts the usage of all those words nd also politely warn the members on its future usage. catch the point madam sunita nd mr. anil s. dalal nd anil don’t get intoxicated with “brahm effect”… :D as warned you earlier, its highly contagious.

p.s. : pls. note the amendment marked in red (my 1st post) - “these swear words or slangs (often times) add an extra '”underground' appeal”

Sunita ji, you have rightly said about the use of all these slangs and abuses in english,,

One more thing i want to add is that i have seldom seen Jatlanders using typical Haryanvi slangs and abuses. We have plethora of such slangs and abuses in our kitty,,,,

Hamari Haryanvi bhaasha mein itne saare slangs hain lekin bahut dookh ki baat hai ki unhe koyi paryog nahi karta,,,,,,,

aaj-kaal ye jo tale likh raakhe se ,,,jaanu kati lupt hoge:-

1. Bhai-Royi ka
2. Dhedh ka Beej
3. Karam-thok
4. Dheekhar gad jaana
5. Meri saasu ka
6. Dhumma thyaa dyaange

aur bhi itne saare aise slangs hain aur hamein apne yuvaao ki inka paryog karne ke liye protsahit karna chaahiye,,,Only then we can get rid of these English slangs and dirty words.:rock:rock

Members, i've noticed many a times in real life and here on Jatland too, people using slangs. The words like> WTF/ M*F*/ Kameena/ A$$/ B*C*/ M*C*/ C* etc. etc. Can user of these words tell that why do we use such words? Are we short of vocabulary? Are you short of expressions? Or do you doubt our capability of writing skills or communication skills. Is it that you give up so easily WHEN YOU HAVE TO WRITE SOMETHING BAD....these words easily creep up one's mind and give A RAPID SATISFACTION of EXPRESSING THE BEAUTY OF YOUR MINDS? I noticed stronger the hatred stronger will be the SLANG.... but do these slangs really express the degree of serious thoughts you want to DELIVER. Do people ponder over the SELECTION of words before hit the "SUBMIT" key. Please share your views.

Thanx for reminding us such a beautiful slangs in Our own desi language..:rock:rock:rock

Ok....that you weren't banned...Generally IN THE PAST this type of HULLABALOO was made when a member got banned and that too for the FIRST TIME....uske baad to used to ho jatey hain. I'm shoche that you'ere not even given "INFRACTION"

Dear DK i agree with u that almost all of us uses these kind of words and i m not trying to be Saint in any manner. I except that i uses same kind of foul language but i never used that for any member of JL and again like u if i use those words definitely i always see first who is the target audience but that doesn't justify that its a good practice.
And beleive me these words can never be powerfull when u want to convince anyone. Mind it that Mr. Kalam never uses these words in front of audience and beleive that his words can make a magic without using a foul language in any manner. Songs sung in our Patriotic movies can create a vibration and again no foul language used in those. And the point is not that u uses those words or not point is that are they really express your felling that u can't express with other good words.

Nishant I do not encourage ppl to use these words neither I target u in my above post. I said that in general for ppl who preaches a lot here and use the same foul lang in there personl life. If someone has to do something then implement in personal life and stop creating this false image. My words were never for u and infact if i m in the same category then it applies to me also.

Sunita ji my point was clear that one shudnot use such words in public forum like JL. And neither i advocate and encourage to use such words. My point was that one shud be true and show what he/she is. Preaching is quite easy but implimenting things in life is quite a dffiicult task.
Also, if I am with my frnds of same age group then i I dont mind using these words. I believe I never used these ****** kinda words here and I shall maintain that. But my target are those jinke muh mein ram bagal mein churri.

Regarding Saint... if u could not understand the sarcasm then u may call them devil who speak abusive words :D;)

Hey dear i know that it was not for me and u r a good person as u have accepted the thing.

I think things got mixed up here.

Brahm bhai, your point very well taken that some or other times we all resort to using slang in various situations when we are either angry, boastful, frustrated or disturbed and the slang used will be directly proportional to the dictionary acquired by the individual.May be in private or in a personal confrontation with some one we can use them(not jarruri though)...but using them in a forum where people from all ages and all walks of life read...will be in very bad taste. There is nothing so good about these slang and i am very sure that they hardly provide any one the UPPER HAND in a situation.....rather it help deteriorate the situation.I agree that YE SHABADD HAMARRE HOTTON PE DHARRRE REHTE HEIN and slightest provocation instigates the tongue to spread them like Bullets of AK47.......But still controlling them will make much better human being out of each one out of us.

Recently, i was to write a personal letter and being comfortable in english i opted and wrote in english, then, my bhai said you should have written this in Hindi or even in haryanwi. I agree Nishant, the reader's comfort must be kept in mind and thats why i thought english can be grasped most comfortably. But, since my bhai pointed out i was bit perplexed, what if the reader doesn't UNDERSTAND HOW I WANT TO EXPRESS:)since then i'd been pondering over this issue and in the past i,myself felt english doesn't express our emotions as beautifully as Hindi might do, is it just a hiccup or thats true? Can others flash some light on it?
In my opinion depend upon the reader if the person is comfortable in English then it might be english otherwise Hindi is always here for us.
