I lost confidence in democracy hence not going to vote anybody. And as for politics, I literally hate it. Period!

Only way to save country and to stop it being a banana republic, Martial Law is need of the hour.

I agree that confidence has hit a new low. But Martial Law is not the solution. Whatever is the case; democracy is the best for a country. Martial Law destroyed Pakistan over the years. India has a history of coming out strong from crisis; Emergency, Financial Crisis. Now, also we are going through a leadership crisis and I am confident that we will come out with new leadership in the country after present political churning. Sooner or Later we will surely get a nationalist government.

Baba Ramdev ---gr8 fan following

now money-----I may not be sure ---but sharing some experience-

I went to Hrishikesh 2 yrs back with family , on our way back we went to Ramdev walal Aashram shayad Rudki ke pas hai---yad nahi

It was very nice , there were doctors----who were quite qualified kuch Mbbs some BAMS----they were charging consultation fees of - 5 INR

Food was getting served at very nominal price---full AC -very clean-----
so many people they were resting on floors-----

There were rooms available only for families travelling with elderly people

Rest I don't know ----from where money comes n goes .
But I was impressed by Medical Consultation at less than nominal price -----that too 5 INR

I don't want to enter into a fray on Baba Ramdev as I never exactly searched about his business model. But the argument that because he made money and created a business empire, so, he is a thug, I find quite strange. Being rich is not a crime till it has been done by all legitimate means. When he was only a yoga guru, majority in political class and media houses were praising him, the day he started talking about black money he became thug!!!

As far as I know baba ramdev ka yogdan/contribution bhot sarahniye ha specially in Yoga and ayurved
By the way if I can vote today, I will not vote for Baba Ramdev or his candidate.

The poll should have a third option. I think many people would like to see the kind of candidates Anna's party fields/supports in their constituency before voting. Many times seemingly good parties with great plans put up people with dubious backgrounds or with a criminal record. So one cant blindly say that its Anna's party afterall, lets vote. So my answer to the poll would be a third option, "Depends on the candidate".
 
Baba Ramdev have done tremendous job, specially campaigning against soda and promoting the yoga. He is very revered figure in rural folks. One can’t deny his contribution just on caste basis.

The abrupt decision of taking a plunge into active politics by the much talked about anti-corruption crusaders of India known as ‘Team Anna’ has provided a fresh impetus to the debate which was losing gravitas in media circles and social forums probably because of the oscillatory nuances of some of the chevaliers of Anna Brigade, especially in the aftermath of Hissar by-election which made first revelations of team’s political bias. Grapevine has it that a section of the team commandeered by Arvind Kejriwal as well as some infiltrators from Ramdev camp having proclivity towards one particular political group have been trying to hijack the movement on behest of some political pundits having allegiance to a particular sect of politics for long. But they had to hold their emotions back just to garner support from across political spectrum to solidify their mass base. Once the movement gathered momentum they could not conceal their inherent bias towards one particular shade and started hobnobbing with a particular sect of Indian polity behind screen. This dichotomy has been causing ruptures in the camp and some meaningful people had to drift away from the group. People like Justice Hegde had to give veiled disclaimers too. The team’s disguised political ambitions have now come to the fore. However, it would be unfair to question the proprietary of their disguised political gameplan in view of the fact that every mass movement has to have a strategy and tactical road-map hatched in the basement of war-rooms, which cannot be shared with public in the larger interest of the movement. But, it is bound to raise eye-brows if someone who had repeatedly and publicly proclaimed to be apolitical, above party politics, as transparent as Gandhi and Socrates; and exclusively dedicated to a single cause of effective ‘Lokpal ‘ makes such an abrupt announcement which runs counter to the fundamentals of their professed agenda. It would have been wise on their part to make their intentions to form a political group clear from day one. There was nothing wrong in that.

Authenticity of the above views notwithstanding, the fact remains that the credit of bringing the gangrene of cancer to the fore and launching a mass movement against it goes to Shri Anna Hazare, Arvind Kezriwal, Justice Hegde and Prashant Bhushan who were able to create a huge mass base. But they can never succeed in their Mission without entering into active politics. Politics is an inalienable part of our life and all those who take part in electing a government will be deemed to be in politics with inclination towards one party or the other. Similarly, Arvind Kejriwal or any other sane citizen in a civil society has every right to be in politics and they have to do so if they want to deliver. But, they wouldn’t have faced the flurry of questions at this juncture had they made their intentions known at the very inception of their crusade. Anyway, better late than never. It is high time Team Anna should crystallize its political line and should not be changing goal posts. Its wavering stand on relations with Ramdev & Co. will also have a dampening impact on their movement as Ramdev's bonhomie with one particular political group is public by now. The innuendos Team Anna is facing now would compound further if they do not dissociate themselves with the ‘saint’ who has already been written off by a vast majority of Indian people, especially after Delhi episode. If his followers support Anna, it should be fine but no space for their ‘Guru’ should be ceded on Anna’s dais.


Having a tie-up or alliance with any political party is, however, not a sin but having any truck with a party which is not free from corruption charges defeats the whole purpose of fighting against corruption which has been the trade mark of Team Anna. At the present juncture there is hardly any political party which is not facing the charges of corruption, communalism or inefficiency. In this scenario it would be a wise decision if Anna refrains from having any truck with the existing parties and raises a brand new party, if he wants to take his movement to the logical conclusion. There can be no question that Anna himself is an honest and dedicated person and has been doing a splendid work for annihilating corruption but he has his own limitations. Only being honest is not enough in the rough and tumble world of politics. It requires Machiavellian skills too which he has not shown so far. Nevertheless, whatever he is doing against corruption is the best and praiseworthy. Let us hope people with tinted reputation and political careerists do not find any place in Anna’s upcoming party. As far as voting is concerned, it is something secret.

Very well said. The trouble I foresee in this political initiative is whether they will be able to maintain their distance from any political party or whether in their effort to maintain this distance they alienate some of their supporters too.

The biggest question will be about Modi. Its true that an overwhelming number of Anna supporters are Modi and BJP supporters. Kejriwal has made no bones about his dislike for Modi but at the same time Baba Ramdev has shown his support. That none of them likes the Congress is a common binding factor and hopefully should keep them together in spite of their differences. And this team would have to keep Anna involved and would have to keep him as their official mascot. Anna has mass appeal and is one guy who find favour with rural and urban folks alike and across all sections of the society. Others I am afraid arent as popular in spite of their accomplishments and cant generate the kind of mass support that Anna does.

1). na to mai gandhi ka samarthak or na mai gandhivadi logo ka samarthak... jaise so called "mahatama" ne koi andolan pura nahi kiya, waise hi karnamo ki umeed mugjhe uske chele se thi... anna ki team mai kuch log as an indian/individual bahot acche hain, infact role model ban-ne layak hain... but leader ban-ne ke liye or bahot sari qualities honi jarori hain...

2). unka badlav lane ka tarika hi mugjhe sahi nahi laga... vo ye umeed kar ke baithe hain... ki ek aisi govt lokpal bill pass karegi jisne corruption ke sare records tood diye hain... it is completely hypothitical expectation according to me...

3). or chlo ek bar ye bhi maan lo ki ye sarkar bill pass bhi kar deti hai, tab bhi ye mugjhe imaginative lagta hai ki 10 saal tak to india mai logo ne khoob paisa loota or fir lokpal aate hi ek dam se bahot sare chor jail mai dal diye jayangae... or india mai corruption ek dum 70% (as once Mr Arvind Kejriwal said in his interview, ki lokpal se curroption khatam hone ki surity to nahi hai but 70% tak khatam kiya ja sakta hai)... kisi bhi society mai itne sudden changes expect karna... mugjhe to possible nahi lagta... 60 saal ho gaye or 3 generation nikal gai, azadi milne ke baad... magar aaj bhi hum indians se na to gulami ki aadat gai hai or na hi goro ko apne se superior samajhne ki... to mai ye kaise ummed laga lu ki lokpal bill pass hote hi, hum log ek dum change ho jayangae... badlav waqt maangta hai... or lokpal agar ek dum se impliment kar diya to kuch hi din mai aadhe se jayada desh jail mai hoga...

or bhi bahot sare reason hain but vote na karne ke liye to bas 2-3 hi kafi hain... :)

Your points are fairly true. But dont you think for 2 and 3, Anna's team also realized this and hence decided to take the direct route for change i.e. via politics? They realized that to change the system one needs to work from within as outside measures like agitations, dharnas and anshans have a relatively short-term effect. But it remains to be seen if they are successful in politics.

1). Direct politics mai to sab tab hi enter ho gaye the jab unko voting ka right mila tha or pehli bar un logo ne vote ki thi... ab to shuruat power gain karne ki hui hai...

2). Jaisa ki samar ne bataya... bheed ko votes mai convert karna bahot mushkil hai... bheed to madari bhi juta leta hai or rahul baba bhi par mugjhe nahi lagta ki koi usko vote karega... leader mai thoda "chatur singh - 2 star" hona jarori hai, jo sab leades mai dekhi jati hai... fir jab ye "chatur singh-2 star" wali quality insaan ke basic character (imandari ya baimani) ke saath mix hoti hai to leader ka asli chehra saamne aata hai... (aapko mere example dene pe problem nahi hoti to mai example de kar bhi samjha deta.. :) )... anna ki team mai dono kisam ke log hain... but "chatur singh-2 star" wali baat 1-2 mai hi hai... to unka jeetna bahot mushkil hai... or jab unki marji ki power unko nahi milegi to unki marji ka badlav bhi vo nahi la payange...

3). Chlo ye bhi maan lo ki vo log jeet bhi jate hain... or power mai aate hi lokpal bill pass kar ke lagu bhi kar dete hain... to ek dam se itni imandari public sehan nahi kar payegi... logo ko suffication hone lagegi or sarkar ko nai-nai jail banane ka kaam suru karna padega, agar anna and team ne ek dam se lokpal systam lagu kar diya... or fir jitni agitation lokpal lane ke liye, private companies mai kam karne wali middle class janta ne ki hai us-se 10 guna jayada agitation govt employees or businessman suru kar dengae...

I did that intentionally. Further it is more about Anna and team's ideology than the candidate they would choose and as they said that candidate would be honest and clean.
