Creative Movies of all Times

Saving Private Ryan i missed that one and saw just few days back awesome movie by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks did it in a best way, a must watch.

.

The Last Samurai, one of the finest movies ever made. 5/5 .

Luckily watched this wonderful movie on a movie channel recently and I'm totally moved by the cinematography, Tom cruise's rare class acting, exhibited true pride n' honor of real warriors, courage n' true warrior spirit, artistic samurai sword fight scenes and whole of the movie. It just left me mesmerized. Highly recommended n' must watch for Jats !

Would like to add a wonderful review, found somewhere on net -

"The Last Samurai is a brilliantly crafted aesthetic pleasure, studded with supernal performances from Ken Watanabe and Tom Cruise. In fact, Tom Cruise unarguably gives his best ever performance, surpassing his portrayal of Jerry Maguire in the eponymous flick. His plaintive portrayal of Nathan Algren, not only evokes pathos but also seeks sympathy of the contemporary viewer, who can vicariously relate to Algren's disconcertion, owing to his inner conflicts of patriotism vis-à-vis humanity.

However, it is Ken Watanabe, who steals the show with his mesmerizing and poignant portrayal of Katsumoto, the leader of the last clan of Samurai. His screen presence and delivery is truly amazing and even outshines that of Tom Cruise, which is a compliment in itself. The scenes between Watanabe and Cruise are pure gold, depicting fluctuating feelings of hostility, compassion and camaraderie.

Watanabe's intense and powerful performance in which he displays a wide range of emotions, is definitely worthy of the coveted statuette, but the academy never fails to disappoint. Watanabe's brilliant portrayal, not only mesmerizes the viewers, but also convinces the critics of his acting abilities. The tacit adoration between Algren and Taka (subtly played by Koyuki), enormously adds to the beauty of the movie. All this coupled with some brilliant cinematography and a mesmerizing score, makes it a treat to watch and a truly surreal experience.

Achanak by Gulzaar .. recently discovered this timeless classic by maestro. A true creative movie not to be missed!

A nice review at IMDB that makes sense -

"Achanak tells the story of a soldier who returns home as a war hero. However unfortunate events unfold in his life and he is pushed to use the actions he was once taught in the army to defeat the enemy, on his loved ones. Yet the burden of his actions is too heavy to live with and he takes drastic steps to seek redemption. These actions bring him close to a horrendous death and from thereon he gets a grip on himself and tries to start afresh. The film belongs completely to the writer/director Gulzar. His direction and storytelling skills are at a zenith and there are numerous scenes that work at different levels and that stays with the viewers for a long time. The doctor's dilemmas have been presented effectively and army tactics used by Vinod Khanna bring in a realistic touch to the film. But above all, its the anti - war message that the film gives that hits home the most. The soldier who made a name killing people in the war reverts to the same actions in civil life when he comes across unforeseen events. He does not think about the aftermath and in fact starts getting haunted by his awards and medals. This is the most intelligent film making regarding a sensitive issue. Vinod Khana performs well but the supporting cast including Om Shivpuri, Iftikhar, Farida Jalal, Asrani, all deliver as well. There are no songs although songs as a means of sending messages have been used wisely. All in all, Achanak is a thorough classic film that would make anyone associated with it mighty proud. The film has got a timeless attraction and is as much relevant to the modern India as it was thirty five years ago."

Full movie in decent print is available on youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCSJTeyVomE

The Bypass is a short silent film staring maestro Irfran Khan and Nawazuddin (Waseepur Faizal). It's one of a kind movie which filmed in barren desert of Rajasthan and silent but hell scary. A desert tale, off the beaten track, where danger is just a stone's throw away!

Indeed one creative art movie, you can watch it here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCRBY9ss-58

Second with you Shail Bro, 3:10 to Yuma is one fine modern classic. Crowe and Bale are brilliant in movie and cinematography leaves you breathless. However it's remake of original classic (1957) but commendable effort. Full marks to the movie, it's quality stuff !

... Yaaaa! The westerns are back! (my first true cinematic love, farnkly! No wonder I love our good ol' Sholay so much too... the fact that our biggest hit was clearly inspired by that whole denim, horseback, western influence is quite unmistakable! "Yae haath nahee fansee ka phanda hain!")...

Anyways, what a COOL western this 3:10 to Yuma is, and I enjoyed it thouroughly!
Russel Crowe and Christian Bale are at their absolute brooding, sometimes humorous, laconic best!!!...
Bale being the 'traditional' hero of the movie, with Crowe playing the other 'traditional' baddie, but if you know your westerns- you would agree that there is such a thin line characterizing anyone good or bad in those wild west times.... and in the end you can take your pick who you liked better!
It is a fast paced, no-brainer, adrenalin rush caper!

Frankly, all i am trying to say is- what fuel this was for that good ol' western shoot-em-up parched eyes!!!...

ps. ... and oh on a separate note- I somehow ended up enjoying Eastern promises, Kabir... cause I guess I do like the whole mafia kind thrillers by default too, and more so cause maybe it reminded me so much of our own Bollywood potboilers! That whole larger than life cruel but now aging underworld don straddled with the useless son, who incidentally is out to prove a point to the ol' man and all that!... the movie did finish kind of abruptly agreed, but maybe then there is hope for a sequel (?)...
[Priti, Maybe the kid will grow up and try to take vengeance out on the new Don by mistaken identity???...and we have a thriller on our hands! :D]

But anyways, in the end the fact that the movie has the stunning Naomi Watts in there pretty much wraps up the deal for me completely! ;)

Yeah---awesome one

but i was not aware that it is a remake---thnx for info

Dhakad Chora - 4/5

Finest desi cinema, brave acting, tight script. Lala's performance is highly acclaimed and so is the pairing of lead pair.

Bhabhi also is expected to win best supporting actress.
