C for Congress, C for Corruption, C for Communalism and C for Crime

Yes, it's true to a large extant. Muslims make a higher proportion of urban poor.

But lesser proportion of rural poor? Although I guess rural Muslims would still be poorer than their urban compatriots. This is just a technical point though.

There is a view that most middle class Muslims fled to Pakistan in 1947, with or without their belongings. Most those were left were either too poor to arrange for transport to move or had too much at stake here - land, relative strength in numbers etc.

It is true that most middle class Muslims fled to Pakistan. According to the 2001 census, a large concentration of Muslims lives in two of the largest and poorest states, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar; 35.6 per cent of all the Muslims in India live in these two states. An additional 14.6 per cent of the country's Muslims live in West Bengal, which adjoins Bihar and borders Bangladesh. So these three states alone make 50.2% population of Muslims and these are three of most poor states in India.
In other states(Rajasthan,Gujarat, etc), there are very few Muslims in rural region.

So here's an hypothesis - Muslims living in poor states are bound to be among the poorest.

One way to prove/disprove this is if the richer states - Guj, Haryana, TN, Maharashtra also have Muslims among the poorest. What do you think?

In Gujarat, mercantile Muslims like Boharas and Memons are in good position. Kerala also has higher percentage of people and many of them work in gulf countries, so their condition is not that bad. I think higher population growth of Muslims may result in ghettoization of Muslims, probably adding constraints to their growth, it may lead to other problems too(more polarization, scarcity of resources often lead to problems). One reason of Muhajir-Pakhtun conflict in Karachi is scarcity of land.

Though BJP has its own shortcomings and though it is the CONGRESS which has already given reservation to Muslims, the BJP is communal.

Congress giving reservations on the basis of religion and we call BJP communal.

Coming to PM candidate we dont even have it in congress because a PM in his address to nation does not say we will try to find who is behind this riots(Assam during independence speech) rather will say we will put the culprits behind bars.PM should have came out and addressed the people when girls were lathi charged in nation's capital.PM should have came out and addressed the nation when our soldiers are beheaded instead of escalating it to diplomatic ties.

That is not really the topic we were discussing as to how a PM should behave, let us leave it to PM. But we can not expect PM to come out and give a speech on everything, can we or should we? Be it MMS or Vajpayee, PM addresses a nation in grave times. How many times did you see Vajpayee address a nation during catastrophic times like Kandahar issue, Gujarat riots(he visited Gujarat but never addressed)?

first it takes time in correcting the issues that are in bad shape from time of independence so 6 years are never good to judge a govt
.

Fair, but can you point out some corrective measures that NDA took? To me they just wrapped the same old policies under the new blanket of names.

First and foremost India became a nuclear power after 50 years of independence which is must in todays world.India would have been a nuclear power in 62 but we had leadership which lacked guts.If we would have done it 50 years ago many of India's problem would not be there today.

Like Swaich said, we became a nuclear power under Indira regime in 1970s. Even if we had not, are you of an opinion that India developed the technology with in a few months of NDA coming in power and tested on 11 May and two on 13 May 1998?

The Indian nuclear programme started in 1944 when Homi Bhabha established the Institute of Fundamental Research in 1945. Under the long premiership of Nehru, the nuclear programme's infrastructure was carefully established, and much of the weapon related facilities given commissioned in 1950s, most notably Bhabha Atomic Research Centre that operates the CIRUS which was commissioned in 1960.

We had the technology for a long time but NDA chose to encash it under their name to use it to their benefit as soon as they came to power and not to mention, start a weapon war in the sub-continent.

Worth a read:
"In 1995, Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao decided to carry out further tests. But the plans were halted after American satellites picked up signs of preparations for testing at Pokhran. The Americans under President Bill Clinton exerted enormous pressure on Rao to stop the preparations. On February 28, the BJP came to power after the 1998 elections, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who had previously campaigned on advocating for nuclear tests, became the country's prime minister. On March 1998, Vajpayee administration asked the scientists to make preparations in the shortest time possible, and preparations were hastily made. Finally, on 11 and 13 May 1998, under prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, India conducted its second group of nuclear tests."

The roads network that you see in rural india connecting state/national highways was done during NDA regime.

I do agree here, UPA also carried this further.

JATs got the OBC status in Rajasthan and center which has lead to better life for them.

So did Shiela in Delhi and Hooda is doing it in Haryana.

the telephony boom you see came during that NDA rule

Telephony boom that we talk about here was more situational than planned. Had it been anyother govt, even leftist they would have done the same if not much more as technology had just evolved.

Congress did 2G, 3G later on which got more traction and not to mention, had BJP been in its place, they would have done the same.

Dear,

Congress already played politics on Muslim reservation in UP. But don;t ignore BJP. Massacre in Gujrat under modi administration is well known to world. BJP vote bank rely on Hindutava. BJP ties with RSS, VHP etc are well known in our country. BJP politics in UP is well known. Demolition of Babri Mosque is well known to us. BJP also woos hindu voters by playing such gimmicks all the time. So dear, BJP is also not an option at all. Also BJP has corrupt leaders. Nitin Gadkari involvement in corruption in Maharashtra is well known in India. So dear, BJP is not a secular party at all.

Thanks

Sanjeev and BSBana, I know about the comparatively well off Muslim communities in Gujarat and the Malabar coast. The point I was trying to make through the hypothesis is that most Muslims in India are poor due to the inherent economic and social factors of the geographies they live in instead of their religion itself. Given a chance like others with advantageous facets - coast, better access to opportunities they can perform as well as, if not better than other religions.

They are many here who will argue the opposite of what I said - that the social and economic backwardness of Muslims in India is due to the very fact that they follow Islam.

But like someone said in that fake blog nothing in those allegation is information that will not be given in a RTI, if someone is willing to fine one?

I do agree here, UPA also carried this further. Are they not encashing on BJP''s policy here? are they not continuing the same policy but still no words from you in bjp favor but still you say your viewpoint is neutral :)

I was not discussing the topic of PM but when you said that BJP does not have a PM candidate then I said this to prove that congress does not have one either and one who is there he does not know how to do the job so here both BJP and congress are same looking from your view but I think any one be it Sushama/Modi or anyone else will be a better PM then MMS. Read again I didn't say that he should come out and speak on everything but PM should definitely speak on something that is talked in whole nation. Now even CM of there party feels the same http://ibnlive.in.com/news/delhi-ga...-sooner-says-sheila-dikshit/315544-37-64.html .IF BJP is doing the same as congress as your this statement so why not them? If BJP did something then they encashed on it and if congress is doing then is it a next step? why congress didn't encashed on it in 62 when we even had US support during war with china? you need to have guts in leadership to do these things but congress never had it so we should appreciate BJP instead finding they just encashed on it.For Haryana and Delhi I would put it in your words, it is more of situational now that they have to do it as they are not left with any other option and giving the same after 13 years is definitely very late.

BJP ne kia to encash on something or situational but congress is taking initiative and new policies. Aisa mat kar ki tumhara ishq ishq and humara ishq _

I know Delhi politics much better, I am not denying there was no corruption and if you know so well about it and have so concrete proof why dont you file a PIL or RTI get facts?

Also a general question to you, do you think corruption only occurs in congress lead states and not in BJP lead states or when NDA ruled?
