For the past so many years this govt. had been shouting in a self-congratulatory mode that they were responsible for the highest GDP growth rates in the history.

Now the RBI governor says that the country is facing the highest fiscal deficit in the history of the country.

If India's economic and fiscal policies were so sound and well executed as claimed by them, why is the nation all of a sudden staring at a catastrophic sounding economic crisis??

The answer to the above questions is CORRUPTION because no matter how much the govt. earns through taxes and investments, it is all routed to foreign bank accounts of these rascals.

And of course, after so many scams the govt. is mastering the art of COVERING UP the scams which have not yet come under public limelight.

A very disappointing budget was presented today.

Thousands and lakhs of crores of rupees of taxes in revenue are being wasted by this corrupt regime on countless Jawaharlal, Indira and PM schemes in which there is no accountability.

Are these schemes modes of siphoning of public money in the name of social upliftment schemes? How successful have these schemes been? Have they uplifted the poor beyond the poverty line of Rs. 31 per day? Shameless!

They are like bandits who with the force of the establishment that they control are fleecing and looting the common man who literally has no say on where his hard earned money in the form of taxes is to be spent. Elections used to be the one time when the common man had the opportunity to punish these bandits, but with perfection of 'cash-for-vote', even that opportunity has slipped out of the hands of the common man. After all, they will buy the MPs to stay in power, they don't need votes.

I really hope that instead of enjoying the election day as a holiday, the common man especially the middle class comes out and votes because till that happens, they will use to their advantage vote bank politics.

God save our country from these bandits !!

Meri dadi illiterate hain... lakin hisab-kitab mai itni tez hain ki jo vo family ka budget banati hain... usko agar thoda sa magnify kar de or thoda sa finish kar de to vo chiddu ke banaye Union Budget 13-14 se better hoga... :P

When Chautala family was accused I was so sure kuch nahi hona inka still they got life time sentence so woh kehte hai na " Every Dog has its day"

Criticism is easy, if I may ask you to suggest what better could have been proposed instead of saying FM should not have done everything he has done, would be more constructive.

Looking forward to see an informed and constructive criticism, instead of emotional and biased one.

Let us know what specifically you did not like about this budget and what could have been done bettter instead.

I am glad that you have decided to take this discussion on budget forward.

However, to increase the depth and width of the discussion, I would appreciate if you would first think upon and answer the questions raised by me and also dwell on the positives that you see in this budget.

Quoting your lines:

A very disappointing budget was presented today.

I am just curious, how is it a disappointing budget? According to you, what could have been done instead?

I did not mention anything about budget. Its you who started this discussion. So let us know why this budget is bad and what would you suggest instead.

The answer to your question lies in my post itself.

I would request you to read it once again, a little more carefully. And if you disagree with my observations, we can for sure take this discussion forward.

You mean Government schemes?

If so, then what government should do instead?

This Budget is an attempt to bring the fiscal deficit down. There were some good things as well as bad things. Bringing the focus on increasing the skills is one major thing that is laudable. A correct step in right direction. Boosting the infra sector is another good measure.
But there were several loopholes in it which should have been taken care. Why to tax FIIs? (still clarity is required on what he spoke yesterday in budget speech on this). He failed to woo Domestic investors who are actually taking their money out of investments instead of investing.

Nothing for power sector.

No relief for common man. This 1 lakh limit under 80C is running since 2000/2001, but considering inflation and reduction of subsidies on oil & gas sector, it is something like peanuts. This should have been increased so that govt/investments could have got more money from people for long term investments. Also, people would have got bit tax relief which in current scenario is required.
Taxing the super rich is not the solution. Does he think that there are actually only 42800 people all over the country who earn more than 1 crore? How many property dealers disclose their correct earnings? hardly any. they make transactions in cash, so that they can avoid tax.
He should have focussed on getting more people under tax, than getting more tax.

Deepak,

Budget is all about spending and cutting. Where government wants to spend and where it wants to cut in order to adjust finances. Stealing of tax is a different thing. Tax stealing can be stopped by reforming policies and procedures. Of course its about rout out loopholes and corruption. But that starts from administrative reforms. That is a different topic all together.

I guessed it from your initial reply to my post that you were NOT interested in actually having any discussion on my observation on the corruption by this govt. in the name of budget and budgetary allocations. Hence, I wanted you to come out with your viewpoint before I elaborated any further.

Well, you have left nothing further to be discussed with you when you call the opinion of others as RANT.

And of course, if it really makes you happy, let me say just for the sake of saying that 'it was a GREAT budget'.

Nope, I could not find any answer. Its a usual rant against Congress.
