Why I'm not "Proud to be Indian" kinda citizen !!

भाई जी , ये अंदर की बात होती है...कोई भी खुद स्वीकार नहीं करता कि वो ऐसा ही सोचता है. वैसे कभी अकेले में इस बात पर विचार करना कि जो भी करने तुम टेक्सास गए हो (और वहीं बसने की सोच रहे हो), यदि उससे बेहतर अवसर तुम्हें भारत में ही मिल जाए तो फिर क्या तुम भारत नहीं आ जाओगे?
Yes and this piece of land is feeding you and your generations for centuries. Have you done anything to improve this land? It us who are selfless creatures who only takes from this land but don't give anything back to make this beautiful.Roots ... eeerr what?

This is disappointing that people here are not getting the inherent meaning of my post. I never said that my country is bad or I feel bad to be called an Indian. If it was the case I wouldn't start the thread at first place. My heart aches to see the ever worsening condition of my mother land and that's why I tried to pin point the issues that make it no more great. But I wonder people still living in illusion and take pride in "Jhooti Shaan".

There are many things to proud of(In Context of India). Feeling proud about something is an individual perception. But you cannot say that why people are feeling proud of when so many things are wrong! And you cannot blame people who feel proud to be an Indian for bad things in India.

i think proudness also comes from comparison you need some baseline and then you observe where you stand ,if you are on positive side you feel yahoo ........and proudness comes in......otherwise you know everytime you just want to get rid of your identity as happens when some Pakistani attacks or plans to attack western countries pakistani diaspora claims themselves as Indians rater than Pakistanis .
JEET bhai you must be doing right becoz wht everybody must have seen there are crores of chest thumpers claiming they feel very proud of being Indian and their contribution is nil in country`s progress rather in my view most of them are tax chor and cheaters (as topiwala and partywala are in majority ) .
you have choosen different road ......... obviously road less traveled i hope your lesson learnt would enlighten us.
but definitely from just feeling OK ............and feeling proud the gap is large and it should be filled by making life better more crores in our country.
one step i will take in forthcoming election to the loksabha is that i will vote for first time and if things improved surely i will feel bit proud.
but unless serious efforts are made by the state all these effors will be as fringe elements becoz irrespective of our zeal we can`t fill in the space of strong and efficient STATE

I don't take pride in calling myself a Proud Indian. Reasons are many few are stated here by a sarcastic but hard hitting poem. I don't live in bubble and accept the fact our Incredible India is in deep $hit, thanks to so called "Proud Indians" and great "Gandhi Topi Netas". I would rather call myself an ordinary citizen with civic sense who's striving to give back to country.

If my parents are bad, corrupted,fallen ; I am damn proud of them because of only reason that they are my parents. Same applies to my country and motherland. If someone think and feel otherwise they need to check their self esteem. It might be hitting bottom low.
No person/land/organisation can be perfect but yes sentimental people would always be in pain instead of accepting the fact and reality that it is just another natural phenomenon. No comparison is a good comparison any day, anytime, any place. It is like being being ungrateful to 99% good things and being sulky about 1% negative things which by force of nature are always bad.
Anyways, who gives a shyt about a sentimental poem or such a belief by an overseas illusioned or delusioned guy. Ask me? I don't.
I love my land irrespective of all the shyt it throws at me and I will always be.
Shame on all who think and feel otherwise!! Again, ask me- Do I care. No I dont.
The poem nicely depicts the pain of a patriot. The poem is written in critic style, a well known style in Hindi poetry. It doesn't mean that the poet doesn't love his/her country and that the poem is an affront to the feelings of proud Indians. No doubt that motherland is always better than any other piece of land in the world. I forgot the name of poet, but he had expressed this feeling very well in below lines-
when a passenger passes by a burning tree and finds the birds burning with it.
Traveller asks to birds:
आग लगी इस वृक्ष को जलते इसके पात,
तुम क्यूँ जलते पक्षियों जब पंख तुम्हारे साथ.
birds reply:
फल खाए इस वृक्ष के, गंदे कीने पात ,
यही हमारा धरम है अब जले इसी के साथ ..

Good to know that you love your land. If a person loves something he/she automatically care for the same, if not, then he/she is just hypothesizing the "love".
And I believe, it was the desire of the so called "overseas illusioned or delusioned guy" to improve the "actions" happening on the land for which he cares for.

Being proud of one's parents for giving birth is very different than the one being proud of his/her parents.
Being proud of someone is a big-thing. It's like happily taking the other person's place.

Things like brutal rapes, blasting corruption, ever growing greed are destructive phenomena of humans which are unbalancing nature .

You know what, we the Indians live in a bubble, we carry false pride that we're the best .. ballah, ballah. "Kuwe ke mendak" would be appropriate term .. Na, wait .. now it should be "$hit ke mendak" and if you're proud of this $hit illusion I don't care either. But country as a whole I do care that's why I shared the poem at first place. Until we realize the fact that our beloved country is in deep $hit we can't work towards to pull it out of the filth.
And last but not the least, being emotional is good cuz' whenever it comes to love something be it a person or country .. you should feel from heart not think from mind.
