Chronology of Indian History --Newer discussions

Thanks Dr Rajpal ji for your honest efforts in this regard.

I am ready to share my views with an open mind.

A healthy discussion with an open mind can clear lot of confusion regarding our past.

We must remember in Europe, history revolves more around Christ and after Christ. Before Christ and pre history is little talked about, where as we talk easily about pre history and before Christ history there fore the context of Slavic tribes and other migrating tribes remains very contextual. When i say, contextual, i mean to say, at what point of time, which tribe was where, lived at that place for how much time and what was that tribe doing there at the point of time. Many European tribes irrespective of being called as Slavic, Aryan or whatever else tribes came from East, when i say East, it means Central Asia and Northern India.

In a recent seminar organised by us on "History and Historiography of Haryana'' in our college, a very interesting research paper was presented by a young scholar, Abhishek, Assistant Professor in Physics, entitled :Application of Nuclear Techniques in Historical Perspective.

I produce abstract of the same as under:

Abstract
Qualitative and quantitative investigations of metallic compositions of historical items such as coins, paintings, statues, potteries etc. using Nuclear Techniques can provide valuable information about the history, art, culture, economics and technology prevailing at that time The purpose of the present paper is to review status of particle induced X-ray emission (abbreviated PIXE) in historical perspective. The efforts made in the international arena and scenario will be highlighted in this paper.

If permited to copy paste the paper, it can, perhaps, induce the young scholars to more scientific research; and, also stimulate participants' interest in knowing the application of the latest tools of research in determining the dates/chronology and to checking authenticity in historical research.

Thanks.

Bahut abhari honge aapke agar yeh aap post karein. Kya aap is paper ke likhne wale scholar se puuch sakte hain ki delhi ka iron pillor inke shodh se kitna purana hai?

It is very old in comparison to his research paper because it was presented on 22nd February 2013 and the Pillar is there for centuries !

Respected Chaudhary Sahib,

This refers to your post :
http://www.jatland.com/forums/showt...gy-of-Indian-History-Newer-discussions/page30
There is a reason I have stopped participating on this and similar threads

If I was to put my moderator hat on, I would have stopped this discussion quite some time ago.

It is not contributing the objectives of the Jat- History section of this site
...............
However, anyone with a little education, will have come to the logical conclusion, that simply copying and pasting quotes from writers, who lived a century or so ago, who had no idea of the Jat history or culture, could not bring a coherent picture forward.

The posts for a few months, are of the ‘ copy and paste’ variety.

They do not add to our knowledge.

If I was to put my moderator hat on, I would ban these posts.

If some one make a quote, they should also write their OWN opinion, and reasons for making the quote, and showing why it is relevant.

If the poster does not have an opinion, some critical thoughts, they should not make the “ copy and paste “ post.

In simpler words, if you do not have anything that adds to our knowledge, do not post

............. The more participation we get the better. That is what this site/ Section is for.

What I would like to see stop, is the mindless ‘ copy and paste’ posts, and the endless circular justifications, of ‘ so and so said’, therefore it must be true.

Feedback please?
What would members like to see?
Ravi Chaudhary

I wanted to avoid confrontation with you, who happen to be pillar of the Jatland forum. But Since you have invited feed back, I beg your permission to put below a few points directly [not in the indirect way as you have targetted me] for favour of your perusal please :

1. I would like to continue the discussion after comments of the participants on the gamut of problem as summed up in post 587 above :
http://www.jatland.com/forums/showt...gy-of-Indian-History-Newer-discussions/page30 have been received and analysed by all concerned.

2. Kindly join us and share the level of your knowledge by participating in the discussion, so that we can gain some insight in your scholarship. [What else is parameter of gauging the standard and then raising the level of posts to come upto desired level set by the editor of section]

3. Kindly do not use threatening tone to close down the thread because of the reason that you happen to be in a position to do it [Perhaps,it was earlier also closed and then reopened due to reasons best known to........].
Even now, it is up to you to wear hat or any other headgear and either to continue or close the thread/threads started by me.

4. If the discussion is moving in other direction than desired by someone, he/she is welcome to contradict giving arguments supported by sources [primary or secondary] and counter the points raised by me and other participants in the discussion.

5, Regarding other objection raised by you is a direct attack on the very base of the thread by saying that it is useless because it does not relate to Jat history.

It is beyond comprehension how the Aryan Issue is not related to the History of the Jats? Can Jat history isolated from the History of Aryans, if so how ?

5. Then, the methodology of research applied throughout the world has been targeted by you as useless wastage of time. Very amusing summing up, indeed!

In social sciences and humanities researchers take literary evidences from various sources like religious literature, secular and creative literature to prove or disprove a point or two. When they quote from say Rig Veda or Bible or Adi Grantha or Rajtarangini or Prithviraj Raso, Meghdootam or from inscriptions etc. they have to copy from the originals and then discuss their relevance. Does this also falls in the category of the so called copy paste category.

The emphatic reply is a big NO.

Then, how it is that to castigate the persons who have used quotations from standard research books fall in this supposed category 'copy paste', propounded by you.

6.It is requested that instead of accusing others, you must devote some time to understand what the ' Research Methodology' means and how it is applied in the study of humanities and social science subjects.

7.If one has no argument to offer to contradict the points raised or issues discussed by the participants, it would be in the fitness of things not to create bottlenecks and derail discussion.

Kindly note, bowing under your pressure of threat I will not adopt 'invented history method' but would go for 'Reconstruction' of history on the bases of available and accessible sources of historical research tools/sources and analyse them in as objective manner as possible. If anywhere I go wrong, I am open to amendments/improvements of my statement under the light of newer/fresh evidence but this does not mean that anybody can challenge my integrity and sincerity and go unquestioned.

This is in nutshell my 'Mindless' feedback for your goodself. The policy makers/editors/owners of the Forum are requested to decide the matter sooner than later, to continue or close down the thread/s on merit .

Thanks

I would disagree with Ravi ji' observation about copy paste stuff and irrelavence of this thread to Jat History .On the contrary I must thank participants for their sincere efforts in this thread. Good posts based on supporting evidences can give a real credence to this History Section.

Matbal yeh pucha thha ki kya yeh shodh shastri bata sakte hain apni shodh ke dwara ki dilli ki killi kitni purani hai?

Pehle aap apna mat Rigved ke Divodasa se sambhandit shloka per dijiye. Adhaar hi agar galat hoga to imaarat to giregi hi.

Aap ke dwara Shri Roy ka kathan ki Divodas dynasty Iran ki thhi ka Rigved ke shlok se khandan kiya ja chuka hai. Aap aur kis contradiction ki baat kar rahe hain?

PGW ka aryan logon se koi lena dena nahi hai yeh bhi saabit kiya ja chuka hai.

Rigved me ladai mein bhaag lene wale Caspian sea se aaye thhe ya ladai Caspian sea ke chor tak ladi gayi Rigved mein kahin nahi likha hai. Phir bhi baram baram yeh tathya aise kaha ja raha hai jaise sach ho. Kya karan hai?

Kindly read carefully the Rig Veda mantras dedicated to Indra and you will get the reply of your many questions on the locale and participants of the Deva Asura Battles.

Please read, think and then contribute, only if, you subscribe to the idea:

This site is like a child or like a seed which has flourished into a full-fledged tree. As a seed contains the huge in its entirety, so also childhood has in embryonic form everything that grows gradually into full shape with the coming of manhood. it is a seed that makes the tree.

The site has made gradual but tremendous progress in successive years since its inception and has in a short span of time flourished in the shape of a banyan tree.

The contribution of the founders and other initial members, who have been associated with it from the very beginning in various positions and the successive policy makers, have made it what it is today.

Needless to say they have served it day and night and it is due to their sweat and toil that they have irrigated the fertile soil, provided sufficient manure and water which are some of the pre-requisites for a seed to grow into a healthy and strong tree.

Similarly, if policy of independent thinking and principles of participative democracy set by the seniors to encourage healthy discussions, without fear and favour and also that all the members continue to contribute proper nourishment in the form of their posts, this would automatically result into Jatland Com becoming communities' proud possession and neighbours' envy in the real sense.

Hence, let us resolve to take this site to scale still greater heights, with the active cooperation of all old and new, active and passive, senior and junior members; as well as wish that moderators, editors and all those who are at the helm of affairs provide enlightened leadership.

!!!!Are We Ready To Enrich the Site by adding classic as well as latest Research based posts!!!!

PS :Inconvenience caused to readers, due to this non related post to the thread subject, is regretted.

Isse kya nishkarsh nikala jaaye? Mein to yehi nikalunga ki copy paste ki niti bekar hai jab primary source maujood hai.

Friend,

Welcome your feedback.

As advised by you, I will try to learn to understand the full 'baat'.

Which point is contradicted by Rig Veda ! Please quote full Mantra from the Text as your RV 6.61.1 is half quote and does not convey the meaning you want to impose.

Kindly see full text and its Hindi Meaning as per Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Veda--Rigveda Bhasha-Bhashya, Vol. 1, [Deepmala VS 2030], published by Dayananda Sansthan, New Delhi 11005, page 584.

It does not convey the information of the birth place of Divadasa at all.

If you have any other interpretation by some scholars to corroborate your statement that Divodasa was born [according to R V 6.61.1] at the banks of the Saraswati, rest assured, I will accept your view without reservation.

regards.

Friend,

If you are interested in Research, you will have to devote time to read not one but many books.

No body is free to spoon feed the scholars.

Thanks.

In fact, so many references have been posted on the single issue of Divodasa's battle on page 28 with desirable comments for the benefit of participant to carry forward research on the issue.

But, instead of going to originals to find out the truth, the avoidable comments on the researchers/historians are coming up !

If we continue to do so,where would this all lead us to, is a matter to be pondered over by all of us. Perhaps, nowhere.

Therefore, it would be in the fitness of things if we devote more time to what the research points contain than to discuss persons who did accomplish it.

Thanks.
