first person to be dismissed from the highest post, india has ever seen, devi lal was. that too by a person whom he himself made ruler to dismiss him.:)

New Delhi lost contacts with leaders in pakistan, Europe, USSR and the US. They neither had good friends in these Governments nor did they develop relations. the three long years 1977-80 were rather wasted in searching which hunts in the R&AW and IB.

Since you were not an insider, you do not have all information. This was the time that India developed relationship with Israel. This relationship was later curtailed by Indira Gandhi, but a line of communication was developed. This relationship proved invaluable during the Kargil War.

USSR was almost bankrupt in 1980's. They could barely sustain a war. USA was totally allied behind Pakistan at this juncture due to Afghanistan.

While going thru few of these Indira's achievements (if you have little brain, you should know the degree of difficulty to achieve any of these) keep the context in your mind that contemporary India was a hungry, poor, unresourceful, backward, problem infested---still be the case---country. Note, when you are a beggar you can't be a chooser. All this time she was working against strong internal and external opposing forces. Indira did -

Nationalization of Banks
End of Privy-Purse---it was end of samanthwad, if you know.
Bangladesh creation
Accepting 2 million Bangladeshi migrants
Sikkim integration
AP integration
Science & Technology investments
Space and Missile technology investments
Nuclear energy and research
Self reliant push
Family Planning
NAM - independent foreign policy
Ideological open support for apartheid, Palestine
Green revolution - led to self sufficiency in foodCalling
1977 election and gracefully accepted the defeat and let the democratic process take its course, unfortunately she lost to "Jokers" though.
Remember the intent of emergency was good, it was just the collateral side-effects created some damage.

She had failures too---after all she was human being, contrary to Durga (called by her staunch opponents).It was in Indira's time that India became the 3rd largest reservoir of skilled scientific and technical manpower, the 5th military power, the 6th member of the nuclear club, 7th in the race for space and the 10th industrial power.

It was her absolute refusal to compromise India's sovereignty, unity, supreme interests and honor. H. Kissinger and Nixon called her "bitch". She stood that kind of American and external humiliation for India's supreme interest.

India was a poor country, and part of the reason was the overwhelming soviet induced socialistic order which has produced poverty wherever it has been practiced.
Nationalization of Banks Is this a good thing? Socialism has never worked anywhere.
Bangladesh Creation It was more due to Pakistan's mismanagement and General Manekshaw's brilliance as a military commander that this was possible. I will give her credit for leaving Genral Manekshaw alone in planning the war.
Accepting Bangladesh Refugees This was not a good thing as problems in Assam are pretty much related to these refugees.
Family Planning Another fiasco. The program of sterilization was so mismanaged that it cost her an election and any mention of family planning was forbidden for next decade as it was political suicide.

Sorry..I have to stop taking you seriously after this asinine comment. She had imposed emergency where she had jailed all her opposition. This was the biggest threat to democracy in Indian history. "Intent of Emergency was good" ...what was the intent? besides to consolidate her power and have her sons roam and rape girls.
First Asian Games Collosal waste of money for a poor nation. Any useful infrastructure because of the games came at a huge expense.
Ideological open support for apartheid, Palestine You must have had to look pretty hard if you have to come up with this as her accomplishments. I believe no Indian is for racism and Aparthied
Sikkim Annexation If you read history, this had nothing to do with Indira Gandhi. The local populance was tired of corruption and a referendum was held whereby 97.5% of the population voted to join India.

If I have to praise her , it was for continuing the nuclear program. I can go on and on on her failures but there is no need to. Suffice to say that we agree to disagree on her greatness.

.we can never be with congress which even opposed to make a memorial of chaudhary saahab at kisan ghaat........BJP has never established a harmony with farmers(ofcourse jats).....SP and BSP are only a single person show and purely caste based........ u can choose the left now.......got it?:).

Without giving a chance to any party/person u have given good rationale..

Best one was that u dont support Congress just because they were opposing to the memorial... But you support Ajit singh in spite of the fact he has not done anything...

Coming back to the topic - > Baghpat Seat has been with LokDal since Chaudhary Saab won the elections for the first time, Sompal Shastri won the elections in 1999 but couldn't retain the seat for long because of early elections. We cant complaint about him as he never got time to work... and Ajit Singh has taken this seat as his legacy, come what may, no matter he works or not he knows he will win this seat.

Why doesn't a poor person gets to contest from Lokdal for MLA seat?

And why doesnt the same person gets or ask for the ticket again?(Of course leaving 1 or 2 early exceptions and u know where am i hitting)

Even if I died in the service of the nation, I would be proud of it. Every drop of my blood... will contribute to the growth of this nation and to make it strong and dynamic.

dear , i never made a count to you of ajit singh credentials and never claimed him as a true successor of chaudhary saahab as well....he is not even a bit of that great man.......but we don't have any other alternative to look for..:o.......... All your question targeted for me are not applicable only for Ajit singh and lokdal but also for all political parties and leaders ...isn't it?
