Dear Jitender:
We are the society. We should not apply double standards. Boys are also involved in those Mallika-like acts. Why is it okay for them to get away with all that disrepute - any there is any? We need to change our outlook to a more rational one. That is the only way.
]Jitender Singh (Oct 17, 2003 12:26 p.m.):
Dear Dr. Dudee,
Obviously it is the nature of every natural entity to be distinct from the other. Even I don't want to push up my thoughts, because I even don't expect my best of the friends to agree to that.
The benefits of such debates is that we come across with people with different thoughts. Certainly, I also won't agree to everything in the debate, but I am certainly gaining in what people do think on such issues, where I am still a bit reserved.
Now, the point I want to press is that I have really seen girls struggling to get their due, only because such acts (as Mallika's) are still considered against their culture and parents fear that even their girls may bring disrepute to their families.
Had there been rational society I would certainly favour your point of view (as your signature too indicate), but in the society we live such acts strike against the rights of thousands of innocent people.
I still do not expect you to agree to me, but that is my view point.
